And how about a burrowing travel power?
Make the avatar invisible/remove the model/something, aply -jump and -fly and add some sort of durt trail/cracked ground and a burrowing sound.
Maybe not the most handy of travel powers, but it makes for some great themes. -
It can be bit tricky in oranbega maps (damn torches), but otherwise not really no.

Quote:It's true, it was mentioned at comic con I believe. If that's true it's the first I've heard of it. Also if it's true I have to wonder what they are going to replace the City Traveler vet reward with since being able to take one of the first three powers at level 4 makes being able to take a travel power at level 6 useless.
City traveler vet power goes away in the new paragon rewards system. -
Quote:The same reason as it makes clicks unavaible. Animations. The toggle on animations still would need to be adjusted if toggles were still allowed.Hmmmm... grays out powers like walk. I suppose it has to have significant downside compared to regular fly.
I'm fine with it making click powers unusable but why does it have to undo toggles? If it's a code issue I understand (but wish they'd find a way to get around it) -- but if it's a decision thing, then why??? -
Quote:Most of my flight characters use fly all the time (hover during combat obviously), also for travel inside missions. This is a lot more tricky without toggles, self heals or other defensive poweres available. Why? People don't take fly for combat, they take it so they can avoid combat while they travel between missions.
Rocket board might so cool that I'll get it anyway, but from a practical viewpoint it's useless to me. -
Quote:Yea, that's too bad really. :/ I would definitely get it if it was an alternate form of flight. But as a pure cosmetic power most likely not. It's a purchasable premium power, as I understand it. And it would be awesome, if you could use powers while riding it. However, sources say it grays out all your powers like the Walk toggle does.
It does make sense though, since it would require a new version of every single animation in the game. Lots of work for a single power. -
Quote:Not that considerable. The series will end in another 2 books. He also averages about one book every 3 years. Wouldn't call that 'prolific'. Unless you count his shorts and editing work. But I don't see how that relates, as they have nothing to do with ASoIaF.
HBO executives stressed their commitment to making Game of Thrones authentic to George R.R. Martin's books and to keeping the show going as long as Martin keeps writing -- which is a considerable commitment given Martin's prolific nature. -
Quote:This. I'm not opposed to updating the CoT and other older villain groups, on the contracry I'm very much for it. But I also really think that the updates should keep the feel and the identiy of the groups intact. The current CoT revamp only partially does that imo.I don't think there's a general resistance to changing or updating the CoT. The overall vibe I got from the thread was the specific changes that were being resisted.
Other than that, I agree. Give us a heads up, maybe even show us some concept art.
That being said, I really do like those designs for what they are, especially the minions. -
Quote:Yea, but you do it with your special brand of vehemence. As I said, it's cute.Just like, oh, almost everyone else in the world. That's because if you actually attached all of the philosophical qualifications that are implicit in every statement (from "2+2=4" to "The sun rises in the east") you'd never get anywhere, since everything you said would have more boilerplate than actual content.

Quote:I like how you state all your opinions as absolutes. It's cute.I've taken multiple ATs through it myself but acting as if it's no harder than the standard 1-20 game is just being silly. And just because you can do it doesn't mean it's worth the effort. It isn't, not even close. The 1-20 game was the only part of the game that did not need a difficulty increase.
I wouldn't run another character through Praetoria unless for some RP reason I wanted to run an opposite-faction AT without side-switching (though it's hard to imagine the character being a Praetorian being less conceptually problematic). Once we get i21 that reason will be history. -

Quote:http://youbentmywookie.com/entertain...el-recap-13362Yes, that would be a problem. However I would think Aang would try to teach others the skill or at least try to write down what he knew and how he was taught.
Apparently Korra has found an airbender to teach her. -

Quote:As an Eu player I agree with this.Sorry but you ARE on a level peg (to mix metaphors). You have exactly the same reward as anyone else who has played the game for the time you have.
The alternative, that EU players who where there at the EU launch should get a bonus, is unfair to US players who have been invested for the same time!
As far as slights against the EU player base go, I'm really not seeing it this time.
Everyone is treated equally in that they get reward tokens equivalent for the time they've payed. If you started with EU launch you've p(l)ayed less than the people who started with US launch, so you get less reward tokens. I fail to see the problem. -
I'm okay with 800 points. It's high end, but at that price I'll buy all powersets I'm interested in. (Which currenlty will only be Street Justice. I'm not much of a weapons set fan, especially not guns.)
Of course I wouldn't be opposed to them dropping the price to 600 points or so, (realisticly the lowest I believe they'll go) but that still wouldn't be low enough to entice me into buying sets I'm only moderately interested in. -
Bugger. This weekend just happened to be my monthly free one. I have to work during the rescheduled one. Late shift too.*sad face*

Quote:While I'm not advocating getting rid of any AT, I can't think of any situation in the game were a brute built for survivability and played by a halfway competent player can't fulfil the 'primary tank' tank role with ease.I lol'd.
When you can show me a Brute that can take as much punishment and hold as much aggro as a comparable Tanker can (i.e. similar/same power sets), come back. If anything, it would make more sense to get rid of the Brute, since it could be considered the middle ground AT between Scrappers and Tankers. But that notion is only slightly less crazy.
Yes, tankers can take more punishment than brutes. But the thing is that the large majority of the time that extra survivability is overkill. You simply don't need it. If you take team buffs into account most of the tankers inherent advantages even dissapear. Most defenses and resists end up capped anyway. You're just left with your higher hp (and regen), which hardly ever come into play.
The same thing with agro management. If you focus on it a bit instead of going pure RAAAARG SMASH it isn't really hard on a brute.
The first time I saw a LRSF starting a few days after GR went live. The leader was refusing to go without a tanker and an empath on the team. I almost choked of laughter. My Invul brute has been acting as a 'tank' on the LRSF succesfully for years.
Or the time I was on an ITF where the team had 4 brutes and the teamleader turned down people on a blaster and controllers because he wanted a tank, and then got pissy at me because I said we didn't need one with this many agro magnets and that I'd take the AV tanking role. He eventually got his tank only to have him lag behind or die practicly everytime he did go in first... Yes, I was insufferably smug for most the second half of the TF. (at the teamlead, not the tank who obviously was a newer player doing his best.)
I'm not even talking about tricked out softcapped builds (something which is imo highly overrated with all the defense buffs you get on the average (villain) team). My ss/invul brute is a concept build, with an IO build focussed on +health and +rec bonusses. I also don't have hasten, or multi stacking rage. (though I have added a number of Lotg's 7.5% that I got off merit rolls a while back.) -

Quote:I wasn't going to jump in and join the pile on but seriously? The overwhelming sense the game has put out for the past year has been "Incarnates," as if there was nothing else. Even the defenders of Incarnates never once argued that there was other stuff being developed in the background; they argued that the rest of the content didn't go away, so those of us not interested in Incarnates still had plenty to play with. Had there been actual hints of non-Incarnate development, someone would have said something, and verification of that from the developers would have been very mollifying (I am mollified knowing it now, after the fact, albeit still a little bitter over the long silence. Had I known long before now, the mitigating effect would have been more obvious.)
I have personally on at least two accasions pointed out to you directly in discussion threads that there still was stuff other than incarnates being developed. There was in Issue 19 (arcs, missions), there was in Issue 20 (mid level TFs), there was plenty of info floating around that there would be in the future.
Quote:In hindsight, I'll give you that one. I was in a very anti-Paragon point at that time, and read it more negatively than was warranted. Where's my crow?
There was plenty of information, you just chose not to see it. -
Quote:That is something that should definitely NOT be 'gravy'. A better working base editor should be part of the basic game imo.Really looking forward to the gravy, myself. If that gravy comes in athe form of a revamped base building system, all the better.
Now, extra base items and stuff (statues of your characters anyone?) is something that has limited appeal to some if not most and a lot of appeal to others. Because of it's limited appeal I imagine that stuff like that isn't high on the priority list, so it doesn't fit into the regular issue budget. So it would make more sense as gravy. -
Quote:Ah, boosters are $10. Since they are 9 over here I expected them to be something lik $12-15 and I was basing the 1200 off of that.Boosters have always been 10$ and should never cost more than that to purchase ALL of the pieces in a single booster. If that's going to change then I really don't want this new system.
Past few boosters have been 60+ costume pieces and a power for 10$ I expect to get the same amount of costume pieces for the same price. Which means they need to take existing boosters and split them up so that if you wanted all 60+ pieces for that booster you have to spend that many points equaling up to 10$
Obviously I don't expect to get a free boosters worth of points or even half of a free boosters worth of point. But I do expect the cost to be exactly the same as its always been for boosters. 10$ no more, no less. -
Quote:This is expecting a bit much don't you think? $15 is the cost of your monthly subscription and you're expecting to get that amount worth of free points? As long as current subscribers are treated very well and those monthly 400 cash points are worth a lot (at least the same value as the old $14.95), then I am all for drawing more players to this game through F2P.
Going by other similar services I know, I guess that 400 points will be worth about $5, and something the size of the current superboosters will be 1200 points. I'd be (pleasantly, obviously) surprised if the value of 400 points ends up higher.
