I´d say the majority of us agree that while the new CoT costumes look great they're just not the Circle of Thorns we've come to love/hate/loathe/admire.

Yeah, going to have to agree, those are not the CoT. They are nice, I like the shoulder pieces, and they definitely have a magical vibe to them. But that's a bit more than a graphical update, that's a complete redesign. Now, if those are specifically the Praetorean CoT, then maybe I can get behind that idea, but as an entire redesign I'm going to have to agree with the OP.

Nope I'm not liking the new look.
Hmmm... I'd leave the art aspects to the Devs (and other players to an extent) for the most part, I do honestly like the new costumes, but I do see where other players are coming from.
I'd more likely tweak powers and level ranges.
For example, I'd probably give the Thorn Wielders new powers and push them up to the level 35-50 (or maybe just them off at 45) range, I mean these guys are supposed to be the ELITE guardians of the Circle of Thorns. This would also mean that at level fifty, instead of ONLY seeing Ice Thorn and behemoths as minions and ONLY Death Mages as bosses, you'd see Ice, Fire, Earth, and Air Thorn casters (and possibly Thorn Wielders), probably a long with Spectral spirits, behemoth demons, etc. Of course this also would mean the bosses you fight would include Succubi, Hellfrosts, Behemoth Overlords Death, Agony, Ruin, and Madness mages.
That's a rough run down of what I'd have in mind. I'd probably do the same to other groups, oh, and would probably give at least ONE CoT NPC demon summoning.
Edit: Oh! and for some higher level ones, I'd probably give them a power where if you defeat them, there's a chance the "Spirit" within will escape and begin attacking you, viciously.
Second Edit: oh yeah, and I'd give Archers actual archery powers... and give them that mook hitman code that tells them NOT to run into melee like idiots for my SoA to rifle butt their jaws.

These could be made using pieces that players already have access to, including the arachnos waistcape and steampunk skirt. Later tonight, I'll see about doing some more 'shopping to give them the hooded and faceless look that so many are clamoring for. Like it or not, we're gonna see the new Circle of Thorns in game, but giving them some skirts, buttcapes, and making a few other tweaks might help bridge the gap between the old CoT look and the new.

Thorny McThorn is mine the other pic is from Amanita and it´s an improvement as it hides the tights and stil keeps the new pattern.
And to answer your question; I never said they were ugly, just inappropriate for the CoT.

a couple changes to the new COT not prefect but you get the idea could us baggier clothing over all though

I´d say the majority of us agree that while the new CoT costumes look great they're just not the Circle of Thorns we've come to love/hate/loathe/admire.
So to safe David and Jay from having to read the whole Thread(it has 24 pages by now), maybe we should put our suggestions how to improve the costumes in one place.
Let´s see, what we´ve got so far:
-hoods with invisible faces for the Minions
-fiery green eyes
-robes, or if that isn´t possible (too expensive) at least a breechcloth
-half-exposed faces on the Lts (maybe tattooed foreheads)
-buttcapes or just capes in general
-tall arcane hats for Bosses
-less shiny spandex and instead more rough leather or cloth texture
-Libri Vermis' sash (and shoulders please)
-large sleeves
