    Temps Art Thread

    Very cool drawing! I especially like the lips and hair, just enough detail to make them more of a focus than the simple clothing but not enough to offset the rest of the image. You asked for critique and I know I shouldn't be giving it but here it is. I'm a little worried about the reflection effect on the gun. Because it's raised up and in line with her hair you get this weird effect when the two get combined. It makes me feel like her hair is either too glossy because it reflects the same kind of metallic sheen as the gun, or the gun is oddly contoured because it's got all of these different patterns of shadows and light. Just my thoughts, though this does very little to take away from the piece as a whole and I think it looks great.

  9. So for a change of pace I've decided to do something stupid and fun with my latest character, a Rad/DP Defender named Duskchain. The idea is to fit as many procs into as many attack powers as possible while still making him somewhat competent.

    While obviously this will be a little on the expensive side, I've tried to minimize the cost a bit by avoiding purple sets, LotGs, and PVP IOs. This is just something to do for fun, not something I'm building to smash content or be a one-man Offender. Any thoughts, comments, critiques, or advice is more than welcome

    Very very cool rendering Primantis! It's actually rather cool to see her in such a classic outfit with very little frills. Like I said before, it adds to that whole "kinda cutesy innocent" motif despite how very obvious it is that she's a demoness and probably deceptive and cruel This is one of the few images in a while that I've downloaded to see all the little details you've added in. My personal favorite is the stud in her belly button

  11. The detail on Neko is pretty stunning! Right down to her name engraved on the collar. I like the playfulness of the tail, but mostly the eyes catch me. They're much wider than you'd expect, almost anime-like, but they don't feel out of proportion on the character at all. They fit very well into that kind of semi-innocent tease that seems pretty essential to her character. The color is also starlting in the best of ways. Can't wait to see the finished work

    Ah, did not notice that it was counting the procs. You are correct, thank you.

    Noted the change in PA slotting and realized, though harder to get, the second Soulbound provides a better bonus both from the enhancement and from the set. Has been changed.

    Even without the proc this build has Hasten pera iteself and PA is off by exactly .1 seconds... of course it's got 5 purple sets, 5 LotGs, and more money than sense dropped into it.

    So I have a question. Does anyone have a cheap build to get me going and moving on while I put together the money and drops for this crazy one? I usually build a pure non-set IO build cause it's fairly cheap to run on and replace those over time with sets that I collect. I'm not sure how effective a non-set IO build would be for this combination though, so any thoughts?

    Possibly the most expensive build I've ever even considered trying, it somehow ended up with nearly 100% more recharge than the sample build it was based on... if I messed something up or if there's anything I can do to improve and possibly (hopefully) cut down on cost of this can someone let me know?
  14. No problem at all. I try to do what I can to give artists a good sense of what I see in their work. I have no skill myself so it's always nice to let people know just how appreciative we all are as fans

    I'm looking foward to seeing more and rather curious if you plan on taking on anyone elses characters as well. I like the little details that you add that aren't available in game, and while sometimes that can move dangerously far away from the original design it's pretty clear that you are well grounded in the existing character design and simply build upon it. Makes me wonder what little things you'd add or change to another persons character, like the infamous Neko up there or possible some other well known often commissioned character (Thor's Assassin springs to mind, and pretty much anyone else from the Virtue-verse) or maybe even my own humble character >.>
  15. Already favorited on Deviantart but wanted to leave a comment here.

    Really liked the Dark Resonance piece. Something about the pose and the way the shadows fill in along the muscles of the arms, shoulders, and around the eyes is very disturbing in that perfect "dark puppetteer" way that is essential to the character. The whole idea of being manipulated beyond your control is very frightening, even to a hero, and this character portrays that fear very well.
  16. Very cool. Always fun to see different styles and even more of a treat to see new mediums being used.

    I like what you added to Suffress from what can be noted as her COH costume. The spines on the back of her legs tie well into the ones along her collar, whereas I always feel they are a little alone on a normal character. Lowering the wings from between the shoulderblades to the lower back above the hips does a lot to change the way the character poses and how she comes across to me. If the wings were high you get a much grander sense of self, like a certain arrogance in that the wings are a greater functioning cape. With the wings lower like they are on her you get a much more intense sense of seduction and coy playfulness, like they're part of a dress or extra inviting arms. I almost want to complain that the background might be a little bright and active, but then so is the character with her little "come hither if you dare" finger curl and open mouth. Overal very nice take on a classic theme

    Eternia is stunning. There's a lot of pieces here, like you said, that you can immediate identify in COH, but some have a rather simple but unique twist to them. I like the combination of the Reaper and Assassin face coverings that you did, and the design on it is very eye catching. The stealth armor looks like real kevlar, which fits perfectly for this ninja. I especially love how you managed to integrate the metal and spikes of her shoulders and belt into this otherwise sleek design without taking too much from this character. It adds another dimension of danger to her that immediately identifies her in my mind as either a well-paid assassin or a very serious anti-hero type character.

    Very exciting work, and I look forward to seeing anything and everything else you care to share with us The designs and details for this pair make me feel rather awkward about my own rather serious and bland Black Luminous...
  17. Heh, the Assassin pattern defies gravity for the same reason that some of the others can even stay on a moving body despite lack of support: Cause of Superpowers! Everyone knows when you become a female superhero you instantly become three times as attractive and your clothing bends the laws of physics to its will.

    Great guide. I'm actually now very interested in running Fire/EA as my next toon. I tried it back in the day and like many was turned off by how squishy it was at the time.

    I was wondering if you had any slotting recommendations for SOs and simple IOs though. I usually don't have a lot of money to start with and make builds with basic enhancements before delving into sets. Is EA an armor that works without set bonuses or should I start making money on another character to get ready for this one right away?

  19. Just finished favoriting the work over at DA, and hoping there's more to come.

    I really have to compliment you on the colors and style on this. It has this vector feel that makes it look like she should be in magazines or on billboards. Very fitting for good looking hero-types such as herself

    I'm no artist so I never feel right giving out criticism, but I have been told it's appreciated so here goes... The chest emblem feels a little fake to me. It doesn't have the same smoothness as the rest of the image, like it's been embossed and laid over it. I love the idea of it almost acting as though holding the top of her costume together, and it's very cool to see the chest emblems (perhaps the hardest part of a costume to integrate correctly) in such a different way. It might be just me though, if so ignore my petty comment!

    Overall I really like it and encourage much more You have a wonderful style and a very cool way of showing off costumes. I love the colors in this, so don't worry about blinding the audience If it works go with it, and I know it'll come out just right in the end.

  23. Hey all, hoping to get some feedback and possible suggestions for a build I've been working on. As it stands I think this is one of the better characters I've made, but there's always room for improvement. So I open it up to the masses to tell me where I went wrong or what I could do better. I personally love this tank and will be playing him (no matter the build) for a while.

    My budget is limited, but I own and have slotted just about every enhancement in this build to date. Most of them come from merit drops, auction house, and gracious SG mates and friends. The next step is to move up to purples, but that's a ways off so any advice without them or PVP sets would be appreciated.
