  1. Ice Mistral was a great success, thanks again to all the masterminds who came for the carnage.

I'm only level 4, but I looked at the Paragon Wiki and it doesn't seem Warshades get much more to combat these guys. They're specifically designed to make my life miserable.

Am I missing something? I often only get 2-3 shots in before I'm at the hospital. I'm only level 6 now, and not looking forward to level 10+.

I've got a Brute, Scrapper, Blaster and Widow and none are such a PITA to play.
Welcome to the best game around!

    In my opinion...

few characters have a lot of survivability at such a low level. You are without a lot of powers of any type. Few attacks and probably no defense to speak of. At low levels you should generally kick back and enjoy the game content and teaming. Scrappers, brutes and widows DO have good survivability at lower levels, likely why the warshade seems "squishy" to you.

most characters don't really shine until their 30's. At that point you DO have enough attacks for a chain of some kind and some shields to keep to alive.

Warshades can be very powerful toons in the right hands. But they aren't for everybody. I'd say play to at least level 30 before making up your mind about them. Perhaps even 40.

And yes quantums ARE designed to make your life miserable.

Now the answer to your question? Yes, it definately gets better. Way better. Have fun!

Is the rest of the high level this stupid now?
The simple answer to this is - form your own ITF. Yes, there are others that feel the same way you do and will join your team. Advertise an XP / Shard / kill all / plow - whatever. People know what you are talking about and will join.

On a personal note. I too used to believe speed runs to be stupid and bypassing what i found to be the "meat" of the game. However, after running ITF (which is still argueably the best TF in the game) and all of the other "high level content" many hundreds of times.... it got a little tedious.

I now greatly enjoy speed runs and find it fun and challenging in itself to form a great team and try to push for a faster time.

If you were to form a kill all, I might join you with a tank or mastermind. I do still enjoying killing stuff eh

If you wanted a speed run, I might grab a scrapper or debuffer.

Don't get down on one run. Play the way you want and you probably will make a lot of friends who want to do the same. Theres no reason to look down on others for playing a way that you don't approve of.

Its a game. Have fun. I am.

  6. Doors

With the level shifts many toons can hold a door solo or duo. Mainly though I find it easier to unleash hell at the door because the prisoners tend to "hold" there for a second. Often too, they are killed before exiting the door.

Consider all of the AOE toons most controllers, dominators, masterminds, many tanks and scrappers (fire, shield, etc).... it's much easier to drop a burn patch or shield charge at a door where you have a stationary target, then in the middle of the sidewalk on moving targets. Seriously.

Especially taking into account the lag some experience, and the plain old mess of 16 toons at one point (and 8 at the other assuming a team of 24) with infinite buffs, debuffs, and attacks. I often hear people complaining that they cant even see what they are trying to hit at choke points. A huge waste of resources.

When I used to lead BAF's I would ask AOE's on doors everyone else on sidewalks. They generally went fine unless an arguement interrupted about how choke points were better......

Now I just join others trials and shut up and follow the "choke pointers".

As always the bottom line is - do what the leader says or form your own damn trial.
  7. January 2nd's all mastermind run of Lady Grey at +2 was a great success! Thanks guys!

    And now.......

    Mastermind Monday January 9
    +3 Ice Mistral
    9:00pm EST

    Requirements:

    1. A Mastermind
    2. Be of Villain, Rogue or Vigilante Alignment (sorry heroes)
    3. Be of level 35+

Meet in St. Martial - spots will be filled on first come first serve basis.

Last week some masterminds stepped up and formed a lowbie Synapse Task Force. Perhaps if there are heroes or lowbies someone could form a second team for heroes and/or lowbie masterminds.
  8. Croatoa is great (I like Faultline too). I was curious about the origins of the "red caps" and found that they are real! Wikipedia says so here....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redcap

Upon further research I found this.....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papa_Smurf

omg. papa smurf is a vicious, dirty, knife wielding red cap.
  9. Yes pets getting stuck is annoying... .BUT....

remember when pets DIDNT zone with you and you had to respawn them EVERYTIME you went somewhere.

and then after respawning them you had to BUFF EACH ONE INDIVIDUALLY!!!!!!!

now we are pampered with zoning pets and aoe buffs.

    ahhh the good ole days......

oh yeah, get off my lawn.
  10. Thanks all for another fun all-mastermind run!
We ripped the traitors of cimerora multiple new-ones!
  11. Mastermind Monday Presents:
The All Mastermind Imperious Task Force!
    9pm Eastern in Cimerora

    Requirements?

    1. be a mastermind
    2. be lvl 35+
    3. have midnighter club access to cimerora (see montague in the univerity in steel heroside or ashley mcknight outside the midnighter club in cap redside if you haven't already done so)
  12. Mastermind monday was a lot of fun! - thanks again all for showing up!

We completed the Mortimer Kal Strike Force at +3 with little difficulty

For this week I was trying to get an idea of how many masterminds would show for such an event and what lvls and faction they were.

A lot of lower level toons showed - but not enough for the co-op winter trial (12-24). The redside Death From Below didnt work out since a couple of us were vigilante (my bad ).

For next week I will have a task force prepared in advance.... watch for "Mastermind Monday December 26".
  13. I stopped counting at 20 toons with trays cleared (there are definately more). The loss of macros makes it even worse.

After /bugging - I received a letter assuring me that if i reorganized my trays they would not bug out again.

    NOPE.

Not all mind you, but I can confirm that at least one toon with freshly sorted trays has cleared again.

    >
  14. The people have spoken ......and I was wrong. EVERY response I have received so far is from a VILLAIN mastermind. So I have changed the meeting place to the University in Cap.

    Thanks for the responses guys.

Like I said, I assume most masterminds are heroside.... based on the lack of teaming villainside.

All is not lost! Prove me wrong! How many villains are hiding out there?

An all mastermind BAF or LRSF would be awesome to annihilate if the interest is there!

At least a couple people have expressed interest in the all mastermind mothership raid :P
  16. EDIT!!

Monday the 19th, 9pm EST - we are want to get a few masterminds together for some laughs. Meet at the university in Cap.

If just a few show we can run a task force or trial. If we get a (plethora?) of masterminds we can invade the winter realm and even crash the rikti mothership.

If the interest is there, we'd like to make this a regular thing.

    Viva Le Mastermind!
  17. Yup. Logging in to empty power trays..... SUCKS.

Thought I'd see how far reaching this goes.....

    New toons... yup.

    Older toons I haven't logged in 2 years...yup.

18 of the 50 i've checked so far. Lots more to go.....

    Sigh.
  18. "And by dead, we mean they’re gone from the game. We’re going in and taking them out from missions and zones. There will be a major ripple effect that’ll affect the world once the death occurs. Even if you don’t play the Signature Story Arcs, you’ll still experience the repercussions. "

but on that note - my vote is to kill Synapse and delete his task force
  19. I'm getting the same thing. Weird flash since tuesdays publish. It is very jarring and only in CoH.

All drivers up to date, yadda yadda....

My card is nvidia.... but i've noticed a lot of ATI users have been having problems. Possibly related?

Anyone got any info about this?
  20. all of the carnival costume bits - but especially Vanessa Devores hair.

i want it for my toons. i also want someone to style my hair like that.

the sybils robes would be cool too

i noticed the merit vendor has IO and market licences available for 180 merits each. so apparently for 360 reward merits per month you can pretty much do anything with a free account outside of incarnates

though you may have some influence limitations
  22. I feel your pain. I play on all 15 servers and we only get 15 global chat channels. I believe the chatload/chatsave commands only configure the chatwindow and do not join/quit the global channels like you were probably looking to do.

I also don't think thats neccesarily a good idea. Some of the larger chats (freedom tf, virtue lfg) are at or near maximum capacity, if you were to quit, you might not get back in.

Perhaps you could be more selective in the channels you use? Do you really need more than 1 or 2 of the most active channels on each server?

One thing I have gotten into the habit of doing.... have all 15 channels running at once in the chat window (with the channel of the server I'm on tinted to red so I know where I am - lol). It can get hectic at times but I can always see something to do (and end up doing a lot of server hopping).
  23. Torment And Agony

    The future sets

since shields came out as a melee set i've wondered why not a blaster set as well.

    trow dat shield boy!

light ranged single target / heavy ranged single target / cone / AOE all stuff you'd expect from a shield ala captain ameri*cough*

even a nuke that would likely resemble [shield charge]
