So wait, I am going to be punished for having to much recharge in my attacks? Say I have enhanced recharge to 99% and agility t4 pushes me past 100....I get slapped for it? I think is be ok with this more if incarnate enhanced recharge didnt effect this. Then again I could very likely have a bad grasp of what is really being proposed.

I just used my ill/cold controller to kill them all then alted over to get the badge. Who needs teamwork.
-
More on col/son.
Solo I can solo gms, do better st damage than most (even min/maxed) melee characters and blasters.
On teams I can turn a team of tankers in to murder borgs and can even make a blaster not a complete liability on teams. -
I had a full t4 max build tw/ele and currently a tw/fire of equal investment. The tw/fire does better damage but no combination is as balanced as tw/ele for a tw brute. I liked the tw/ele more but made the tw/fire more as a experiment. Now with rad armor coming down the pipe I will get back in to playing tw seriously again cause my itxh for tw is there, badly.
-
I run fire blast - sw chain on my ill/cold and he has gotten times in the low 1 minute ranges without lore. I have a hard enough time keeping my phantasm alive is a reason I never tested mace.
-
Personal preference or not, I think stj has put out the highest st time as of right now.
-
Muscle on a brute is almost never worth it (great dor other ATs though). With agility you gain recharge and defense. So more damage and Survivability. Regardless of sexondary. It's my go-to alpha on my brutes.
-
It definitely is not that simple. There are things in each primary that give it weight over others, not to mention what everyone values more than the other. Do you want the best st damage you can? Aoe? Survivability?
-
Quote:Considering my first character was a claws/regen scrapper that is extremely nice to hear, but i find it hard to digest giving away all those sweet sweet damage options. Regen just isnt going to put out the damage od other sets. Although I will readily admit Regen being back to its former levels of survivabilty is almost an appealing enough idea to polish off my first 50.Read the link in my sig to my guide for /Regen...
With all the stuff available to /Regen toons these days...I can run around constantly with never less than 1000-1200% Regen at all times with perma hasten and perma DP.
Do you regenerate +/- 160-170 HP/sec all the time? Somehow I doubt it...
If regen had better Regen and recharge debuffing protection I'd most likely go back. -
Quote:If this is the case I'm quite glad to hear it then. As much as I looooooove burn I like the idea of TW's optimal chain including cb even with burn available.Based on what I can gather from Mids, running the numbers...CB becomes more effective than Burn at about 75-90% damage buff (or BM + Med Red Insp), after that Burn is costing you DPS...
It appears as though Whirling Smash being worth more than Gloom would be somewhere around +/-125% damage buff (BM + 2 Med Red Insp)...based on my late night math... -
Quote:TW doesn't suffer redraw when momentum is active, so you can replace CB in the normal chain with gloom if you wanted and I use burn in my BM chain. This chain is completely self buffed, just fury going at 100%. As for your question when the buff would exceed the need for burn, I'm not sure.Wait the best TW includes Burn? How does that work out with the redraw penalty?
Also that clearly cannot include having a high damage buff considering Burn has a 400%(300%) since its a pet summon.
So at what point would a brute's damage buff exceed the need for burn on a tw brute? -
I think ele melee stalkers are quite capable of doing more than 160-190 these days. Not sure about scraps, wouldn't be surprised they sat there. Obviously ele brutes need gloom to do it, but I don't think their st damage is horrible either. I run a gl ci jl chain wth mine and he is killing pylons in les than 5 minutes. I think someone recently got a 3m time with ele/nin stalker.

Without looking id aim to run muscle for your alpha. It's what I run on my stj/ea/lev and he does pretty well to say the least.

I've edited my post a few times, might want to check it again, but ss doesn't need fire armor for amazing dps. It does need that RAAAAAAAAGE though.
a lot of my argument and opinion is based on that tw is not easy to get to ss levels of damage. And sustain it. Much like hitting god mode with dark armor.
-
Quote:I'm not sure you read my post or maybe I didn't explain well enough. I already said tw has the best brute pylon time, even beating ss/fa/soul.So, your argument is that SS can be combined with another powerset, and a specific epic pool, to form an attack chain with the best powers from 2 powersets (1 from SS itself) and arguably the highest DPS attack in any epic pool for a brute; in addition to 2 damage buff powers...and all that is ALMOST as good as the top DPS attack chain from TW, which is so tight for recharge that adding an attack without the weapon would cause you to lose momentum and cost you DPS?
Thanks for making my point all the more exascerbated.
I am not discounting SS/FA...but I am tired of people comparing a set with 3 great powers...(Rage/FS/KOB) to TW...only by combining it with other sets. I love SS, it might be my favorite brute primary...but it is time to call a spade, a spade.
I will let you prove it, here is the challenge Tommy:
(1) Roll 2 toons 1 TW/Regen and 1 SS/Regen
(2) Slot the 2 with identical common powers and only the primary sets as differences
(3) You may take any epic pool powers, but you may not use attacks from those pools, only primary power attacks in your attack chain.
(4) Record each Pylon run, you may have 5 for each toon, and post them for the forums to see.
(5) Compare the best times from both toons and the average times of both toons.
(6) Come back and tell me, "I guess you were right, SS is like 60-80 DPS light compared to TW"
When you compare the 2 objectively, there is no comparison. I can build any TW with enough recharge to do the top DPS chain...you MUST have FA and Gloom to do it with SS and even then you come up short.
Whether you like it or not, TW is THE best DPS set for a brute or any other melee. Period. There is not a discussion to be had...and SS is a very DISTANT second. TW is not even one of my top 3 favorite sets for brutes...but, even I cannot deny that it is an absolute monster, if you can build it, master it, and fuel it.
So, you can keep comparing a complete toon, purpose built for one purpose, to a primary powerset, or come out of the cave you're in and see the light. Either way, my post was accurate...run the numbers...SS with anything but FA is not even in the same zip code for DPS as TW with ANY secondary. So go run this little challenge, and try to prove me wrong, but work out an attack chain with KOB for ST DPS that is even close...
Let's see, that would go something like this...KOB...(recharging)...KOB...(recharging)...K OB...
See my point?
As for your comparison test? I've already done it. I already posted my times in the pylon thread. Pre-hybrid I held the best ss/fa/soul time AND tw/fire time. I have a clue what I am talking about. I'm not just pulling this stuff from my experience leveling a tw. Both my ss and tw brute have about 15b invested in them. These aren't casual builds, none of mine are.
Tw does do better dps than ss, but for that to happen you must have a PERFECT rotation with no misses. Ss is a lot more mistake friendly to achieve amazing damage whereas tw is not to get to that level of efficiency.
Don't get me wrong, tw is my favorite melee set in the game, but it is by no means head and shoulders greater than ss, not to mention there is no way whatsoever I would recommend it to a newer player. Tw is the first set in this game that just can't be facerolled (compared to other sets) to maximize its potential.
Also regarding your comparison, I fully understand the comicness of needing gloom for the best dps chain as ss. Well, so does tw at rhe moment. It also needs burn. Hence why I compared both my tw/fire and ss/fire. Granted this will change with the new brute ato Proc, and I only use burn for my st rotation on my tw when bm is popped, but thats the case.
Also are you trolling me? Why would i make x/regenerate ANYTHING? :P
BTW I have access to a non fire armor ss I can do times with also. I am fairly positive the times will be similar to to my my tw/ele brute (who I recycled for my tw/fire). It will be a ss/sd/soul brute. If you arent ok with it being shield I can run it with a ss/ele/soul. If not still, oh well. My argument is that TW is not as superior to ss as you make it out to be, regardless of how they are paired. I mean obviously....take gloom away from ss and that is the case, but that isnt happening. -
Just reading the first post I realized my plant/fire/ice dom fits the bill. At first first I was thinking ny ill/cold triller then farming was mentioned. Then control was mentioned and that excluded my ss/fa brute (unless you count dead as cc....which i do). My plant/fire/ice fits the bill.

Yea spout adds a very large chunk of dps on st targets and it can take a -res proc, but with db the new kd proc mightvbe better. With the stalker changes how is fb now for them?

Quote:This is a very bad post. Tw is amazing, and as far as I know currently the holder of the best brute pylon time, it is literally only by a few seconds. And this was done via a PERFECT run. No misclicks, misses, and a clockwork smooth chain the entire run. You flat out won't consistently beat a ss/fa/soul brute simarly invested. Now come i24 and the proc changes? We shall see. But saying ss is a distand second you are out of touch or out of your mind.Titan Weapons, hands down...and I do mean by a large margin...Super Strength is a quite distant second...after that I would have to think maybe Claws and then MA/StJ/DM/SM/Kat/FM/KM will all be in there somewhere close to each other covering the middle of the pack. ELM/BS/BA/WM/EM/Staff will all be behind the others...

Is it still solo-ING it if you multibox the clicky parts
also solo-ing the khan tf was rough on my brute. I imagine that being a good challenge for scraps. Need a looooooottt of dps.

Personally I enjoy new incarnate powers being introduced. I find it fun and engaging discussing with other min/maxers how best to optimize my builds (or theirs). This applies to all ATs. The only reason I don't play scrappers as much as I used to is simply one thing: runners. So in other words, taunt aura. There are only a handful of defensive sets that this isnt an issue, and those sets are good for the most part, but man I really want a tw/fire scrap but the idea of chasing down a boss that survived out of a large group is depressing. I ca accept runners on my stalker for some strange reason (he makes AVs flee...stj/ea). Maybe because I played this game when giant rock monsters weren't afraid of robots with claws that this irritated me so much. I definitely have old 50s I abandoned due to runners.
Also anyone that knows me understands I try to min/max all my characters, regardless of the combo. My main defender for example does on average 3m pylon times without hybrid or lore pets activated. I have a plant/fire dom that has a best time of 2:14. I only consider a combo bad if it can't kill a pylon solo. Doesn't have to be quick. Actually I don't remember if that was his time...seems to low. Id have to check the pylon thread. I remember it being less than 3m for sure though. -
Quote:This is a troll right? I mean, what is there to learn about this game using only brawl after playings for 8 years? This is up there with a dude i played with years ago who solo-ed a mind/rad troller to 50.Naw, it was too fun, I don't miss the hours at all. I learned a lot, playing 'Chess' against the game to see if it could be done. Not sure if everything used to make BH work would translate to another character, due to the slotting. But the mechanics of the game? That knowledge? Oh yeah, my awesome claws/wp scrapper Homeslicer, if I rebuilt him using some of BH's knowledge, would just be plain *scary*. Thing of Bigness too, the SS/Inv Broot, and he's pretty powerful now.
As it is, I've rolled the Kick Jump only Brute, and... I gotta say, it's just hilarious to me to see this jumping only dervish slam the enemies in the jaw with bootheels. I dunno why. Oh, and sometimes they get knocked up in the air? Frackin funny stuff. Then, at level 6, I got Hasten. O. M. G., that is a serious contender for DPS, it recharges so fast, she's literally jumping non stop.
Dang it, I'm smiling thinking about the silliness. I can't wait to get Hasten to Perma on this one.
I know. I'm an oddity.

My wm/sd scrapper is awesome fun and does great dps. I averaged out around low 2:50s with mine for pylon runs. I'm actually thinking it could be better.
