Technically, SHE wouldn't be humid, just experiencing humidity.

Are you sure? Haven't you heard someone referred to as "steamy"? -

Agreed, Aisynia. I think they should change the Broker to something else... it's not like she matters. Perhaps: Mona the Glint, Dalia the Glint, or perhaps just Diamond?
[/ QUOTE ]
Why? Desdemona the Glint has been in CoV since launch. If there was all of a sudden a metallic blue armored character added to the game, should it be called Blue Steel? Or maybe that guy that just stands there should have his name changed to "Shield Guy" because it makes sense for the new character to keep the name because it is Blue.
[/ QUOTE ]
Those are obsurd examples.
Desdemona =/= Blue Steel.
Blue Steel is responsible for the formation of a significant villain... Desdoma, stands there and looks go actually, she doesn't even look good. -

The purple drop rate is probably the single biggest issue, and its one I wish they would nerf by upping it. No way something that enjoyable will happen though.
[/ QUOTE ]
I for one move to have the purple drop rate become a 0% chance... but I am in the minority, I guess. Purples and IOs have fueled much of the greed in this game that has gone about breaking other aspects of this game. Can you say Merits? They wouldn't exist if people hadn't exploited TFs the way that they did (and still do) just to get a reward. -
Which is, of course, the way it was intended. It was nice while it lasted though.

As long as this is technically possible within the constraints of the servers and such (which we have no evidence to believe that it is): /signed

To answer your question in regard to me, personally: I don't like PvPing in most any game I have ever played (aside from fighting games like Soul Calibur). This game is not an exception.
-
Nice idea. I think with the advent of the Super Leader this type of system is probably possible. I think it would help out a lot of casual players who run very "not there, then back again" types of SGs like you mentioned. I am sure that other productive uses could come from this as well.

Also, I think that the /SGTell command is the best bet there. -

So defeat badges are grinding? Then all of the defeat badges should be removed? I dont think there was anything wrong with most AE badges but some needed to be changed or removed but not as many as they are doing. Does everyone not want to work for anything anymore want everything handed to them?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes they are lowering the bar so that everyone can wear a badge. Making the meaning behind the badge valueless.
Why remove the badge to rescue 50 hostages? That takes some time but certainly a lot less time and energy than killing 200 toxic tarantulas. They are making MA badges meaningless because everyone will have all of them. Most players dont badge so trying to find and kill 200 toxic tarantulas isn't important, but MA is super popular so all of a sudden those badges must be very very easy to get so everyone playing MA will have them.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you're one of the 'I have X, you don't: I'm happy' people then.
Eco.
[/ QUOTE ]
For me at least, its more of a "I have x that few people have because I did something to earn it"
This sort of change is basically being told to my face "don't bother trying to excel and put your best arc ideas to digital paper and work tirelessly to make them as perfect as possible. after all, just get 20 buddies to 5star you and you have all the authoring badges"
Its a nice change if you're a badger or don't care at all about recognition. Its a morale killer if you actually liked being able to be proud of your accomplishments.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you need a reward to be proud? I am plenty proud of my Arc, regardless of how many people play it, or if I ever get any variety of recognition for it. -

I dunno.

I hated FF the time I tried it on MM's. My favorite AT is the Corruptor, and I don't see myself using FF it were to be added.

I would avoid it like the plague.

This game isn't exactly rocket science. There's nothing hard to figure out. Anyone who can't figure it out on their own won't figure it out at all. Doesn't matter if or when they hit 50. That number doesn't mean jack.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's an easy position to hold as a veteran of the game. Right now, I could probably pick up an AT I've never played before, levelled to 50 already, and still figure out what to do with it within a day. However, I also know almost everything there is to know about this game and can cite precise numbers on most powers off memory, as well as explain the intricacies of obscure in-game mechanics.
This isn't as easy a position to take if you're a newbie, however. For me, it took over a year before I even started to grasp the basic concepts of the game, and I've respecced my old characters many times over because of the stupid stuff I'd done with their builds. And it took me until recently - that's FIVE YEARS - until I figured out the very simple concept that what costs more is not the power with the highest cost, but rather the power with the highest CYCLE cost, meaning the cheapest of powers often end up being more expensive than the most expensive powers. And that's one of the simpler, more obvious things.
I don't know, maybe some of you are geniuses who can figure out the game on your own instantly, but my experience shows me that this is FAR from a simple, obvious game.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I will take the middle ground: this game is neither ridiculously easy and completely intuitive nor is it so hard you may need to have a degree in Rocket Science. -
[ QUOTE ]
Was never the case since I've been playing this or any other game.
It's easy to make it to max level and not have a clue how to play.
Join team/party, earn exp, remain clueless at the 'endgame'. Stupid people don't suddenly stop being stupid just because they hit 50 nor do young players suddenly become child prodigies just because they maxed out a character.
This game isn't exactly rocket science. There's nothing hard to figure out. Anyone who can't figure it out on their own won't figure it out at all. Doesn't matter if or when they hit 50. That number doesn't mean jack.

And I can tell you... Vet Status doesn't mean much either. Excepting maybe those with the 60 Month Vet, if you have been here since day one, than I would hope you know what you are doing by now. -
[ QUOTE ]
The only Arachnos fort-type place in Port Oakes I could think of would be the ghost-infested one in the NE... no clue if that gives dayjob cred though.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am failry confident that it does not. -
[ QUOTE ]
Make a special cyborg set as a main archtype and provide a free 2nd costume that would BE the ALT mode.... vehicle or jet or something... So you could have a special new toggle power that would simply switch the costume immediatly and provide an animation for this, so people could see you actually TRANSFORM into the other form... that would be SO cool.
This suggestion is out of pure imagination and I FULLY realize it would be ridiculously tedious to ACTUALLY do, but its the IDEA I wanted to share, its not that I believe they'd ever actually do it, so save your hate mail... I get that it wont happen.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you recognize that you will get "hate mail" and that your suggestion will never be implimented... than why bother posting it?
Also, I think that any idea that is added to this game strictly because someone wants to do here what is done in some other media should be automatically disallowed. -

Used to be that if someone was a level 50, you could count on a certain level of skill and teamwork, because they had worked hard through all the zones, and knew what to do.

At what point, exactly, was that the case? -

I do. But I dunno if I count, since I don't play on Justice. (Just wandered in b/c this Thread was in "active topics.") -
[ QUOTE ]
OK, in all seriousness... I believe they ARE loaded.
Why? Because unlike an instance mission (which only has to scale for eight characters max AND can be 'kickstarted' on the instance server when the mission is accepted) the zones would take too bloody long to load for the first person entering them. Everything IN the zone has to be instanced, which would mean the server has to set aside the resources, run the AI code, et cetera. I'm fairly sure that all of that takes a bit of time to get going from null. Theoretically you could start it all while the client is loading... but the client has to be taking cues from the server, not the other way around, or someone could theoretically hack things by injecting their own code (say, to disable the fog in DA).
An instance that is in idle state probably doesn't take that much away from resources (there's not much 'happening') once everything is staged. But the staging itself would need to either A) already be taken care of or B) happen rather quickly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Good points. Shows exactly what I know about how this game works. -
[ QUOTE ]
I was just running through Dark Astoria and I had an interesting thought ... does this zone exist if no one is in it? Does the game load it up only when at least one player is in it? And if not why not? I would think it would save a bit on server work ...
Anyone know?
Peace,
Amrat
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I don't think it would be "loaded" and just sitting there waiting to be used. That would be a waste of space. Zone events can occur there even if it is not loaded (I would assume, obviously I don't know for sure) because I would guess that the deciding factor of when or where a zone event takes place is nothing more than numbers in a database... numbers waiting to be called up when the zone is loaded. I could be totally wrong. -
[ QUOTE ]
No I am not. You are misunderstanding or choosing not to, whichever the case is... Until something is observed to be defined it simply exists as data waiting to be defined values through observation. Until you know how to measure a particle you don't know its there, you don't know what to call it, therefore you don't know it exists even if it does. End of argument. Everything requires observation to know, or implied knowledge through to observation of something else which can then lend to other theories and other predictable events our outcomes of a particular observation...
.
If an entity is made of energy, it cannot touch the ground it cannot feel the air it cannot observe these things we 'feel'. It is merely data to be measured and then defined. It is all subject to perception. There is no getting around it.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem there is that we DO exist. We have already defined what light and sound are. Whether or not there is an observer at this point is irrelevant. Anything that fits the definitions we have crafted simply is what we have defined it to be.
Example:
A supernova explodes in deep space, far removed from Earth or any variety of observer. It will take millenia for that light to reach Earth. The light given off by said explosion is still light regardless of when or even if it is ever seen. Why? Because we are the ones talking about it, and we know what light is. If what is emitted fits our definition, than it is light. If a being from Klaxion Beta sees it, and says it is a beam of cheeseburger, than by golly, it is a beam of cheeseburger whether he can see it or not (assuming that Klaxions refer to light as cheeseburgers). -

Wow. Are you going to post everytime someone makes a mention to the BUFF? And if you are going to "fix" a post, one would think that you would at least go through the effort to make the rest of the "fixed" post make sense in regard to your changes... Sheesh. -

I would imagine because Gravity is not seen to be in the top tier of Control Sets. I like(d) my Gravity Troller, but YMMV. I remember being very annoyed by the lack of damage early in my hero-ing (some of the angst was due to me being a newb and unaware of what exactly a controller was). Singularity (the pet) and Wormhole (a teleporting AoE disorient) make the set as far as I'm concerned... not to mention the fact that chucking debris everywhere is fun too (that would be Propel). Unfortunately, the coolest powers come late in the Grav Troller's career.
I paired mine with Force Field, I found this to be a bit too passive and so grabbed the Medicine pool so that I have a bit more to do during combat. I have seen it paired with Storm (watch out though, as the Immobs in Grav do not have -KB, the holds do) and Rad as well, to great effect. -

Stalkers assassinate people...so do Marines..or SEALS, SWAT if they have to. Punisher kills peolpe all the time. Sometimes they don't even know he's on to them. He just blows the building up.
[/ QUOTE ]
None of that makes an assassination any more heroic. I find it harder to justify a Stalker as heroic than I do a Necromancer.
