Quote:Frankenslotting. I tend to follow the "Law of Conservation of Slots" aka "The Bang for Buck Postulate". On any char I like and play a lot I always end up ex'ing down mostly for TFs but sometimes just to hang with some buds. It depresses me to see any fancy set bonuses I had disappear, which is why I tend to invest any heavy bankroll only in purps. Very few of my chars reach this point though. Generally they live long happy lives with slots full of eh from many different sets. My feeling is if I already have 95% acc/dam/rech (or whatever), set bonuses become irrelevant. (Mind you I don't PvP). Anyways, sorry for the ramble, I just...can't..resist..the bait!" I personally feel set bonuses are overrated (except purples), but that's a whole 'nother thread. :P "
Funny I feel the opposite is true
OP--if you are now considering a ranged pew-pew blaster, Hover probably isn't a bad call. As someone noted, it lets you stay out of reach of the Freak Swipers (and whatnot). But yeah, unless you are getting significant def bonuses elsewhere, Hover will make little difference in that dept. -
Quote:This is my standard CJ slotting. Personally, if I feel the need for more defense I just eat a purp or two...Need knockback protection? Slot a Karma KB protection. (At lvl 7 you can slot the lvl 10 if you can find one)
Noticing you're not hitting as much as you'd like? Slot a Kismet 6% Accu.
Or slot both!
Need some more recharge time bonuses, slot a Luck of the Gambler 7.5% recharge.
OP, if, as you say, you enjoy playing your blaster "blapper" style, I heartily recommend taking CJ solely because it's the best way to pop in and out of melee range quickly and accurately. Example: On my Fire/Fire, it's BU/Aim+pop into melee+FSC+pop out of melee+fireball+cleanup. Even if you are an ST type of blapper, I find it best to be in and out of melee ASAP (bosses don't take kindly to bonesmasher :P).
I also believe you can get some decent ranged def bonuses out of Thunderstrike, so you might check that out. I personally feel set bonuses are overrated (except purples), but that's a whole 'nother thread. :P -
It also helps to watch the market dialog in your chat box. It's the only reliable way of knowing if your transactions are happening.

As I have always disliked the "Aww man, my eh just turned yellow" moments, I like very much that I can slot two and three parters in my low 20s and never touch them again. So this is where I invest most of my kitting energies until the char closes in on 50 (at which point I'll decide if I care about taking them to the "next level").
Every ten levels or so, I'll browse for replacements. I'm not picky about the levels or the set bonuses, so I can usually find something. And, of course, I always have four or five different toons going; if I hit an enhancement wall on one due to either recipe or salvage unavailability, I just put in my bids and go play something else... -
Quote:Agree. I wouldn't use the fear unless I made a PvP build.I would suggest Oppressive Gloom instead on a Spines/Dark, as it is comparably effective at knocking enemies out of commission, costs a lot less endurance, and the self damage will be minor compared to the damage prevented.
As for the slows, yeah, don't do that, nothing stays alive long enough to get away anyways. -
If you are asking yourself this question then the answer should probably be "no, don't take it". I'm extrapolating here, but my guess is one who is ambiguous about taking sb would often be less than enthusiastic in it's application. You can kin perfectly well w/out the power, so why spend a power choice on somehting you won't utilize?
I personally find it to be a fantastic power, and it very much fits my gogogo type of playstyle. When applying, you can target through you allies and pop off attacks--I find it best to start during the cleanup of the last few baddies in a group. -
I've played a lot of levels of Radiation Emission.
The debuff toggles can be extremely useful, but to be useful in a large team:
a) the bad guys need to be hard enough
b) the rad must outsmart the damage dealers, i.e. quickly determine what is likely to die last or next to last. I find Lts are often a good bet since minions are pushovers and blasters tend to focus fire on bosses.
If the the toggles are not needed, just lean on LR, blast, and toss heals as needed.
I personally can't relate to those who complain about either not being able to anchor something that doesn't die immediatley (see above), or having their anchors killed--the powers recharge really quick, either everything is dead/near dead or you just reapply.
I would also never play a cold either as I get bored of buffing very quickly. To each their own, that's what pretendy fun time games is all about. As has been pointed out plenty of places, play whatever you want as long as it is with competence. -
Guess Citi switched to the same borked UI that we did...

Welcome to the game!
Make friends with your map. In addition to showing you the locations of interest (trainers, stores, doors to other zones, special events, etc) in any given zone, I've found it immensely useful in missions (especially caves) for tracking your location and teammate locations.
I keep mine open all the time (shrunk to the smallest size and in the bottom left corner).
Have fun out there! -
Wow.
Thank you for this thread.
ryancowboy, I feel your pain, but...lol
I hope you can at least appreciate how truly epic and awesome this fail is. This beats the crap outta adding an extra zero to your bid.
Best of luck with the next respec. -
I too washed my hands of the Dominator AT many moons ago...
However, I knew, vauguely, of supposed improvements so I gave them another go. My most recent creation, a Plant/Fire, has been one of the most fun evar! You will definitley learn to love fire breath in that combo--confused, and immob'd in a little cluster, you DESTROY.
Also, domination is *much* easier to come by now, even on a small team.
As I am now deciding what my *next* dom will be, I will venture to say that /earth looks like a good solid set... -
Heh, yeah, that sucks too, but I've seperated (in my mind at least) the problems with the market performance and the problems with the market interface. Hopefully the performance will improve soon as those issues are even worse than the baffling lack of tab functionality.
-
One more for "don't like".
Searching hasn't been an issue, although I liked when the "other" recipes tab was at the top--or bottom...w/e. I do like using the "find" button from my inventory, it makes it easier to dertermine list prices on some postings.
BUT. I *hate* the lack of a "tab-able" interface. Crazy though it may seem, I sometimes want *more* than one of something. I now have to click over into the teeeny lil window, BACKSPACE, and retype. Also, when making a purchase, I like to creep up w/ lowball bids. With the persistent bid action going on (and no tab), this process is made woefully tedious. -
Am I the only one who has crafted buttloads of empowerment buffs?
Confusion resistance? Why not!! Beats deleting, counts for an invention too. -
awesome badge.
Delicious, delicious tears...
edit: oh yeah, and grats... :P -
Ah, how I've missed these threads.
Been away for a while, so it's good to see we're still on track!
But where's eryq2? I'd really love to get his take on this.
My 2 inf:
Played WoW, it was okay. The thing I disliked most (besides all the walking) was the frickin' market. "I can't place a lowball bid?!" I wondered incredulously, "WTF?!" A market where SELLERS set the price is crap; your deal-finding is at their whim and on their terms. Pah!
Although 6 pages, and countless other threads have thouroughly explicated how one might acquire their salvage (or anything, for that matter) at a non-extortionary price, HK has shown no glimmer of understanding. And all because he wants it nao...
As has been said, you can have it nao. Start with the "2", and keep hitting zero until you can't anymore. Click "Place Bid".
And if you have a hard-on for WoW, go play frickin' WoW...Escape this dying game with it's broken market while you still can! -
I believe it's:
/bind enter "afk your message$$startchat"
Not %100 on that though...I'm sure someone will set me straight if need be. -
Cool...I actually had a q about MM PB as well.
So it affects slows? It doesn't mention that anywhere in the text or the detailed info--it was one of the reasons I haven't taken it yet as slows are one effect I would love to enhance.
How about defense/tohit debuffs? Any boost to those? -
Council Marksmen stay at range too, but they don't scamper off like wounded deer as soon as they're agro'd.

Okay, this day job thing? Isn't that basically rewarding us for NOT playing the game?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, don't play as much as you want as long as you throw in your 15 bucks.
This is going to be awesome...I'm definitley going to be rock the mission designer ASAP! -
First, as MissInformed stated, low level mobs DO run from high lvl characters. This makes sense to me; they have no chance against you.
What DOESN'T make sense to me is a +3 Freakshow boss with half his health picking up and tearing across the map.
This:
-is annoying as all hell
-makes the game tedious
-seems to be happening even MORE since i12
If it's an exploit for me to defeat a +3 boss, perhaps it's time for me to hang up my spurs.
