The reason why he says not to slot TI is because enhancements add to a power based on its own numbers. TI has a low resistance value, one which changes very little with training (TO), Dual (DO) and Single (SO) origin enhancements. TI only adds to smashing and lethal damage, which we pass the 90% cap on under I4 with his build.

By not slotting it, we can 6 slot attacks, defenses raising resistance to energy/elements/toxic, or travel.

Remember that some powers reach a cap with SOs, meaning additional SOs are wasted and will not make the power better.

Havok has taken all of that into account. Look in this thread for his Invulnerable spreadsheet to see his numbers. Play with it to see what effect your slotting changes will make to the overall defense and resists of your toon.

His numbers are just that good. Hence why I intended to respec Kara to his build before learning of I5's gutting of this AT.

Air Superiority is just that good. Fast animation, knocks foes off their feet, AND knocks flying foes out of the air. One of my favorite attacks as it chains well with the others for a damage per second (DPS) string.

    [/ QUOTE ]
TI is not slotted because it provides a large boost in RES, not small. It's something like 32.5% RES. The reason it isn't slotted is because with RPD+TI's base slots + the 44% from fully-slotted Unyielding, you're past the 90% cap.

That way, you save slots and use them in attacks. The alternative is not taking RPD and just slotting TI a couple times to break the cap.

Once I5 rolls around, this will all be different, though.

    Also, Havok eats brains.
  2. Due to the scaling of the bar (0 -> 1.0), the Defiance bar is very unintuitive. Since it scales from +40% - +500%, the bar always looks mostly empty.

I'd suggest a linear scale for it. Five notches, evenly spread across the bar for each level of defiance (also with a tooltip that states at what level of health the ability kicks in).

Aside from that, the usefulness of an ability that encourages a Blaster to spend more time in battle once in the <40% HP range is a bit suspect. I didn't find that it helped any more than popping an inspiration for me.

Perhaps starting the effect earlier, or adding a minor amount of DEF at the <10% mark would make this more viable?

If it were a simple expansion, you'd need CoH to play CoV and vice versa... but you don't. An example I've given many many times, now, is that CoH and CoV are like Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. You don't need one to play the other... but to have access to certain bits of content, you'd need both.

    [/ QUOTE ]

these pokemon games you're playing, you pay a monthly fee for them? if not, then your comment isn't that relevant.

cov is very much an expansion to coh, if it weren't, then how is it you HAVE to buy cov in order to get bases for your hero?

if you're just throwing out answers because you're a fanboy, sorry, warn me next time so i know.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ah, but there's a further concern. You combine Pokemon Red and Blue and get to see extra stuff, as you do with CoH and Cov. So that's the same.

The monthly fee is because this is an online game that comes with quarterly "Issues". That's the difference.

Any future plans for 50 content? At all? I mean, having a lot of content between 20 and 35 is great and all... but we're going to outgrow that quick at the rate you guys keep adding it in. We're all going to hit 50 eventually. Before no one has slots left for new characters, we're going to need something to do at 50... Take a poll guys, seriously. (P.S. CoV is not an answer)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, we're working on 50 level only content.

I'm surprised more people aren't flipping out about the Stamina comments. he said he wasn't going to remove it, or make it inherent. He didn't say he wasn't going to nerf it. He did however say he wants players to make a choice about what powers to use and when.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I said it elsewhere, but the Stamina thing boggles me. They couldn't figure out a way to drop it by 80% and then just apply that 80% to our base regen rate or something?

I'm *sure* there's a few fairly simple solutions that end up as a nice buff to non-Stamina people (less downtime is more fun than standing around), and does little or nothing to the current Stamina users (which is like, what, 80% of players?).

Nerfs: Mr. Emmert throughout the lecture constantly said that arising to challenges = fun. He said that all Ats should be able to do a mission on heroic solo. However, if invincible offers no challenge prepare yourself for the nerf bat (there goes my illusion/rad <sigh&gt. Right after that he said that if you can agro 50 guys and not be defeated something is wrong. He also stated that no one should be able to cap with out a defender. I’m assuming this means defense but it’s one of those shorthand notes and could also mean damage. He mentioned that the 30’s game and above is NOT Balanced (his emphasis). He said that he wanted to make it more challenging and exciting to get a Yes!! I beat it feeling. He didn’t mention specifics other than differing damage types.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Simply awful. I wish a new development team would take over...one that understood wimping is awful and masochistic challenge is not fun. I can guess that the "YES!!" level of challenge equates to hamidon level of difficulty. This is precisely why I left EQ.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Why do we assume "challenging" means "as challenging as avoiding getting boned in prison"?

I'm sure there's a middleground between "breezing through missions on Invincible" and "how come my blood is all outside of me?"!

  9. Seems to me like getting a 33% boost to two aspects is like getting a 66% boost from one enhancement overall, no?

I have no issue with this decision, but I would like more solid info on Issue 5!

See my prior post for the correct answer. That's from Manticore himself posting the changes. All those body switches made Psyche's powersets a mite odd, IMHO.

You are correct. Sister Psyche has always been a Mindrider. Her merge with Aurora Borealis was obviously the most extreme case, but she occasionally picks up other powers when she is riding with a super.

Debt reduction? Seriously, people, come on.

Debt is easy. Honestly. Just get yourself into a smart group and don't do anything stupid.

Sure, Blasters have it hard in the high levels. Well, now that you know that, scale back on the attacks. Relax a little. Let things get good an aggroed, then apply damage judiciously.

Debt is a necessary negative consequence to dying. If there's no negatives, then there's no reason not to die.

So, don't die. If you've died, it's your fault. Don't blame the Tank, or the Defender, or whomever else. You. You got in over your head. You know why the Devs give you debt-free levels in the beginning? Because that's where you're supposed to learn your limitations.

As you level, your limitations grow incrementally, so you know what you can take and what you can't. Unless you're PLed, in which case the debt you earn now is payback for not learning the ropes earlier.

Don't jump in the pool if you're not able to swim.

Statesman I have tried to side with you on every change you have made. I understand that you are a visonary that has the best intentions at heart. I watched you build my invunerability/super strength tanker from poor to uber and I loved it. I have also seen names of people dear to me changed, some very very unsubstantial, but I have understood. But here is a change I can not side with you on, this change I feel is going too far.

    You are NERFING debt.
And I will not take this and be quiet.

Debt is one of the many reasons I play this game. Debt is the major draw/focus of my supergroup, of the J-Force. If someones debt is not in the 7 figures they aren't J-Force.
I go OUT OF MY WAY to reach the debt cap every level. I have leveled in debt 7 levels in a row (since 33) I am the J-Man and my mass amounts of debt are one of my defining features.

First you take away debt until level 10. I'm saddened by this because nothing is more exciting then your first real death with debt. And now myself, my J-Force and the CoH community have to wait 5 more grueling levels until that first debt. But on this I understand, this is a kind of force/incentive to play beyond level 5 (something I rarely do besides my main).

The second one is really really tough for me. See the majority of my game play is with a large team on invincible missions. The J-Force and I get together NIGHTLY to go on what we coined Debt Runs(TM) and we dont' just keep it to ourselves we welcome any hero who wants to see what real fun is. With only receiving half debt you are effectivly forcing us to work three times as hard to do what we are now, hit debt cap.
I REFUSE to be forced to street hunt.

But after reading each and every post on this thread I see that this comunity is not made up of real men and woman. That its mostly sissy, wimps, wusses, chumps, wankers, girlie men, and even more girlie woman who can't seem to take their debt like the hardcore heros they are. Yes this is griefing of the entire community, because the many are making the life of the few so much more difficult.

Statesman, please, I beg you do not take my debt from me.

But if you do, I have one small request. Please Statesman, remove the debt cap. This way while it may take me longer (much longer) to accure massive amounts of debt I will never ever have to reach a point to where my deaths are worthless, every death will raise not only my purple bar, but my enjoyment of the game.
It has been my dream to out debt a level 50 before I reach it. Never ending debt *swoon*

I appologize if this post sounds rude, I don't want to be rude. I am just very upset at the prospect of losing the ease of my debt.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Dude. Seriously.

You're playing the game backwards, and you want them not to make changes for you?

AND you have the nerve to get all uppity over on the Tank boards when it's your explicit goal to DIE A LOT?

For serious, lay off the pipe, bub.

    XP and I5

    People, seriously.

If you don't like this change because the game is too easy for you; it wasn't implemented for you.

If you feel like it does nothing since you rarely die; it wasn't implemented for you.

Astonishing as it may seem, there are actually players out there that don't frequent the boards and are struggling, yes, even after they get SOs, to solo their own missions.

Those are the people who this is for. This change is to help lessen the frustration of those players at the bottom end of the curve. You know them. They're the ones that can't solo their own missions and worship you when you come in at a lesser level than them and clear the thing out.

And here's the beauty part: this does NOTHING to hamper your gameplay! I mean, really, they could just make purples harder again, if you want...

Debt is nothing from levels 5 to 10 so what's the point of that? I just don't see any reason for it.

It speeds up those first 10 levels, which for people who make lots of alts can get repetitive and tiring.

    I ponder this...

Hmm. So if you die on a mission, you'll pay less, speeding up the advancement of people that die often (and do missions), while those of us that rarely die will go at the same pace.

Basically, you're trying to help the lesser-skilled/built/game-mechanic-educated players keep up?

    Sounds fair to me.
