  1. Just out of curiosity, wouldn't it make more sense to all of you if melee power sets were given something closer to a Tier 1 ranged attack instead of the Tier 2? Since they specialize in melee, they would have lesser ranged damage, or so I'd think.

So Charged Bolts (107.79 Avg Dmg @lvl 50) instead of Lightning Bolt (175.63 Avg. Dmg @lvl 50), just as an example. Maybe up the recharge to 8 seconds from 4. As for Throwing Knives or Shuriken, I think we can all agree that they need to be brought in line with whatever attack damage scale is used for the other sets' ranged attacks.

I don't know if I am ready for more base love, after the "love" we have gotten in the past

    [/ QUOTE ]

Didn't you know? They're going to introduce a new form of salvage used only for crafting base items. They're going to do it as another time sink for people to invest in to create their base items.

They'll call it something innovative... like.... "Base Salvage"

  3. Just as a quick disclaimer, I skip posts in red text because it gives me a headache. The orange isn't much better on a blue background, but it takes longer to drive the spike into my brain, so I normally try to at least skim through those. So if I miss anything addressed in those posts, there's the reason.

Anyway, Prestige isn't that tough to generate, believe me. Without using Comm Officer farming, I managed to generate over 200K in Prestige for one SG, playing one character mostly solo, in the past month. It just is dependent on time played, just like everything else in this game. If you're playing enough to keep leveling up, you're playing enough to generate the Prestige.

My Dom has generated somewhere over 800K for the group she's in over the course of the past 5 months, mainly from running TFs. No exploits involved there, and very little farming.

The Prestige is still out there to be had, on both sides. Just need to actually do the work to gain it instead of expecting to gain from exploits, such as the Comm Officer farms. And for the record, I have no issue with farming. I'm primarily an RP'er but I recognize that farming has its uses, and I have no issue with people farming legitimate non-exploit content.

Yeah, as I posted in the patch discussion thread, Martial Arts Shuriken is actually it's strongest attack. A shuriken should not be doing more damage than all melee attacks on a melee-centric mob, especially moreso than their tier 9, three second animating, slow-motion kick to the head move ( I forgot the name... ).

Being able to choose which ranged attack would also be nice.

Considering most "adjustments" in this game seem to be done with a barrage of sledgehammers when the fine tuning of a single screwdriver would actually make sense, is anyone surprised by any of this? I mean, seriously, did you think they wouldn't go total overkill on some of this stuff?

    My issues

Trust me, I feel your pain. I had to redo custom units in 5 arcs that were up (two accounts) and it took me most of the day to make them even remotely on par with where they were, in attempting to create units that were even remotely balanced in comparison to official in-game units.

I noticed that a captive you free in one of my missions lost her animation (and it's no longer on the list of animations for a captive despite being on the list for bosses), which she had no trouble performing before.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I found the "Captured (Energy Field)" was missing for my captives when I went in to fix everything in my arcs (on two accounts) that this patch and the new power assignments broke. Same animation?
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Bah, I can't do Zombra's patrol idea. It doesn't seem to want to let you select a custom group for a patrol if the group contains no custom critters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I do it all the time.

If the custom faction you want isn't in your list, select a different custom faction, then click the "Edit faction" button. All you have to do is click "Exit and Abandon Changes" and it should have your list refreshed to include all of your factions when you go back out, including ones that don't have custom critters.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I believe it's only the helmets that you unlock.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Correct. If you reread the description of the costume pack, it specifies that you're getting the helmets and makes no mention of any other Arachnos costume pieces.
  9. Should have been a GMotD update, just like with the alert to not edit bases or make changes to storage. Patch Notes the last few months have been slow in being updated. I've stopped looking for them when I log into a new patch as a result.
  10. Oh I agree completely. Since we can't trigger ambushes between mishes, I figure the next best thing is to have an ambush inside mishes after the required objectives are complete.
  11. [ QUOTE ]

Here's one I've died to a few times, kinda like the oriignal Firday the 13th movie. I've done the last objective and received the mission complete and exit option. So I decide to nap in the rowboat and catch up on the clue novels I didn't get around to reading while my end and health refill, and blammo Jason and his two buds jump me.

If the map has a clear finale', don't add an ambush to it. That's my last impression of the mission; I'm gonna bet it effects the rating I give.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I couldn't disagree more with you here. If the story you're telling has clear-cut objectives and the players achieve them, that doesn't place them in a safety zone where nothing else should be allowed to go after them.

Leave when your objectives are completed unless you're prepared to continue fighting. Nowhere on the map should ever be considered an automatic safety area, mission complete or not. If you've just busted up Object X and Faction Y isn't happy about it, reinforcements can arrive to seek retribution. Exit (ie escape) or accept that you are now subject to reprisals as a consequence of your actions.

If you're in the mission, never assume you're safe. That's what your base is for.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Ehh honestly the influence required to change difficulties is a joke. It would be nice if they had a seperate difficulty tab for just testing missions that was seperate from your actual difficulty rating but its not that big of a deal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll agree that you shouldn't be charged for adjusting your difficulty in Testing. At a 110,000 a pop, changing difficulty 3 or 4 times a day adds up when using my main to test stuff at level 50, not to mention doing so on several alts a day.
  13. I fixed some pages that were vandalized by a VV user, usually replacing all text with "Courtesy of Mike Frost." Posting here in case someone I reverted doesn't have email notification turned on, so they can check their pages for themselves.

    Otherwise, nothing new here. >.>

    SG NAME CHANGE

I think it was that they can change the name if there is a copyright problem, not just change the name.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So If I copyright my SG name I can get the GM's to change it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

you may have trouble copyrighting a name that was created inside a game system owned by someone else...

    [/ QUOTE ]

What if I also "created" it with a leaky pen on an IHOP napkin, and bribed the waitress to countersign verification of a fabricated date before my subscription began?

Yes... yes... the plan is good. Now I just need to get the plutonium and 150 lbs. of industrial carpet shampoo... yesss...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And the waitress.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't forget the feather duster hand-crafted by seven Portugese virgins under a full moon on the island of Sri Lanka. It's critical for the ritual to succeed.
  15. Very nicely done. Has a great feel to it, similar to the giant robots from the 30/40s Superman cartoons or maybe Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (brain is a little fuzzy on details for which one tonight). Very nice indeed.
  16. If I hadn't informed the leaders of most of the SGs I'm affiliated with, most of them wouldn't have known about the Base Salvage change. This information is not getting out to the people who don't come to the forums regularly. It needs to happen BEFORE i13 goes live or yeah, we're gonna see a bunch of unhappy people trying to use their salvage.
  17. Thanks for the update!

Just from a quick glance, I'm seeing that the bases themselves will go down in cost for Prestige. The items we craft to put into those bases however.... not so much.

The conversion process of base salvage to invention salvage is a bit convoluted though and to be honest, I really don't see it as being any kind of improvement on the method of using Base Salvage to craft Components. They're just exchanging one convoluted system for another, except now its likely to cost more.
  18. Do we know if rent costs are staying the same? That would give me pause before upgrading some of my bases' plots. No need to upgrade the size if a possible SG slowdown will lock me out of my base or make me tear it all back out to afford it again.
  19. Though I'm sure my agreement with Enos is a sign of the coming apocalypse (like a breaking of the 18th seal or something; that kind of "adding insult to injury" deal that's just completely over the top...) I have to agree that this has a lot of potential.

Personally I would prefer to see the person crossing over take up a sk/ex slot, as it shows that their mentor is directly responsible for them, just like they're now responsible for their sk/ex. Not sure I like the idea of making you go to a specific contact in a specific zone to make yourself available for teams using this. Make it available under your Hide options or under your general options to show if you want to be available or not.

I really liked the idea of no-xp ambushes for heroes/villains who stray from their teams. Perhaps you have to escape the Zig all over again if you're a villain who is captured though. Could set up something similar for heroes as well, where you have to escape an Arachnos prison? Make them instanced zones as well, so they're not in general population with the level 1 heroes/villains out there. This extra prison escape mish would only happen if you don't choose to return to your team when defeated. Your sponsor could claim you from a PPD or RIP station to prevent this.

The second page, there's a picture over top of everything.

    EDIT: Fixed. Okay?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gah! Not remotely okay. It appeared fine on my browser and I'd rather remove it than see it shrunk to a miniature size that barely appears on my screen like that....

I've deleted both pics you changed from the entry instead of having them as tiny thumbnails.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I use Firefox.

I thought it looked pretty good. Those "tiny thumbnails" made me want to click them and see the whole picture. They would encourage someone to read your profile.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I use Firefox as well. In IE the page looked even worse with the pics as thumbnails.

I'll resize the pics to make them better suited for use on the page at lower resolutions than I'm apparently viewing, as thumbnails are not something that will likely encourage people to read the wall of text that dwarfs them. I'll find another way to do it so the thumbnails aren't needed, and the images won't appear so horribly undersized on my screen or (apparently) oversized on someone else's.

Thanks. Looks like I might scrap the whole page and start over though if the images I want are that much of an issue though. I'm exceedingly picky about layouts and appearances though.

This is how Vet Rewards should work....

You get a choice between Sands of Mu or the Ax as normal, but then you get to choose from Nem staff, the wand OR which everpower you didn't pick the first time. That would mean at 54 months, you'd get to choose from two NEW powers or the remaining two you didn't pick before. What ever power you passed up should always be available the next time you unlock a vet power, but there should ALWAYS be two more new ones.

Did I explain that as horribly as I think?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whta I've suggested in the past is that the devs make a "veteran melee power pool" and a "veteran ranged power pool" and add powers to each as necessary. Make the veteran rewards grant one choice from the appropriate pool. So if they decide to add some new snazzy veteran attack, newer players will still have a shot at them before they grow old and die. The advantage older players will have is that they will have more *selections* but not necessarily a better set of selections which means there is less of a problem adding overly interesting veteran attacks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Defintely a better system than we have now IMO
