Many good points have been made in this thread. I am not involved with the current league, and have not been involved in any pvp, of any type, in quite some time, nor do I plan to be involved. But a few thoughts I would like to share are as follow...
I think it is a good thing to see organized pvp in this game again. I believe the best way to learn is a combination of both playing against the best players available and having those same players teach. It was the best way for me when I learned way back when, but that may not work for everyone involved here in this discussion so take it for what its worth.
Back when I first got into pvp (pointing to I4) I took alot of beatings...I mean a **** ton, but eventually I got decent at it. While I would have never considered myself "elite", or even very good back then, I could hold my own. But I would have never learned without taking some lumps, and competiting against everyone possible.
My personal opinion is that people who want to be in the league should be allowed in. From what I have read (on this thread) the rules of this particular league do not allow that. If that is the decision of the organizers of this league then so be it. As an outsider looking in I respect that...I disagree, but respect it at the same time. Getting good at pvp in this game from the player perspective takes alot of time, dedication, and alot of "I ******* want to do it!" Those players who have become better pvp'rs have earned it through hard work. For the players who are venturing into the "Arena" to learn...god bless you because it is a learning curve, but one that can be ascertained with some dedication. So in my opinion new players could only benefit themselves by playing against every pvp'r out that...even if it means breaking the rules a little.
And lets all remember the old saying: "It's just a game". Enjoy it my friends.
I could be missing something going on behind the scenes here as well, and if thats the case then unfortunately some drama may be involved, and that my friends is no good for anyone.
Some things should be considered. Possibly a discussion on Vent could clear the air. Just throwing that out there.
That is all. Wafflecakes. -
Meow...you're not crazy. Teamed with him a couple of times this weekend.

True, but I hate to see everyone putting marriage down for someone that hasn't experienced it yet...Acey and I were fortunate enough to be married when we were already 30+...I KNOW I'd be divorced if I had married in my 20s...thank god for Acey!
And Cajun, you had one truly wonderful thing come out of your experience, a beautiful little girl! -

Mindripper...I hope everything works out well. If not get a lawyer...get a good lawyer...then spend the money and get the best damn lawyer you can. -

My first toon was Mister Freezzze. An Ice/Ice Blaster later renemed to Cajun001. I started playing again here at the end of last summer, broke him out of the box and got him some of those fancy IO's. Very vaible set that can fill several roles on a team and fun to play.
Since his creation I have made damn near one hundred toons, some I like better, but the first one will always be special to me. -
PCJL - Was one of the original founders of this group. Great bunch of people with whom I still keep in contact with even though some don't play the game anymore. Mad props to @Duskhammer, @Irish, @Icewing Death, @Stone Godd, @NewGuy, @Kayla Firestorm, and countless others.
HVND - Great group of guys. Some of the best players to ever play in this game in my opinion. @Biotron, @Angelfist, @Kail, @Blue, @Citizen Zero, @Deadly Love, @PerilX, @Avid, @Black Thought, @Incursion, and again countless others.
BOSS - After being away from the game for a long time BOSS gave me a home and it was much appreciated. I have had a blast playing with these guys. Thanks Ultraaman and Myrmydom for having me! -
Is the team already filled for Sunday?
-
I hope so for the teams sake. Good thing they got rid of Jamarcus Russell too. Nothing against him personally, but I never was a fan of him even when he played at LSU.

Quote:I hate to say it, but LS was also responsible for one of my favorite experiences in game. After much huffing and puffing about Daytime raiders and how evening raids not on his schedule were bad for the community, he swore that hed grief every one of them. To the point where he vowed to cause a yellow dawn at one. However, when the time came to gather for the raid, there was less than a full team with him in the Hive Not really a real threat, as far as griefing goes.
A couple mins into gathering, though, I got a tell from one of my SG members that there were a LOT of SFers in Warburg, gathering nukes it looked like. Odd, but considering how handy those could be, it wasnt really concerning. Until, that is, I got two tells out of the blue from SF members, or more specifically, former SF members. Apparantly, LS had called out the SG to gather nukes for the purposes of nuking Hami during the hold phase, specifically to lag the raid out and cause a yellow dawn. Theyd never liked the griefing behavior, but they liked the SF group, so theyd tolerated it. Having the SG turn out like that for the purposes of sabotaging a raid that wasnt his was too much for them they were out of there, and just wanted to give a heads up.
This was a problem Bud and PON had turned out in force to provide manpower for the raid, and we had a strong veteran presence as well, but its hard to prevent a mechanical lagging of the zone. What do you do about that? Then I got a tell from the same SG member that told me about them being in Warburg, saying that he was taking out as many as he could with his Stalker, but there were just too many of them to stop them getting keys. Light bulb! Looking at who was online, I found Ping, and asked if he could help said Stalker out. Ping replied with something akin to Well see what we can do, grabbed a few others, departed Eden, and started whacking SF in Warburg.
Unfortunately, a little later, I was informed that it was just slowing them down, not stopping them. There were a LOT of SF in Warburg, and numbers added up; they were killing em left and right, but it actually looked like all that had done was call more SF into the zone to help. So, with about 10 mins to raid time, I put up a Hail Mary, and sent another SGmate to Test. Why Test? Because that was where our at the time almost universally hated coalitionmates were spending all their time.
A few minutes later, I remember seeing PVP? pop into Arena chat as a team of HVND loaded into Warburg and began swatting bumblebees with extreme prejudice. And of course, when they showed up, a whole bunch of ESK and VORI dropped whatever they were doing and piled into WB as well to fight them, with more SF collateral damage. I never had the pleasure of seeing it, but Im told that the carnage in that zone that night was epic. The raid went off without a hitch. Despite LSs best efforts to taunt Hami (no one steals UManns agro), there was no yellow dawn.
Next to the first successful raid on this server, this raid was my favorite. Not because it was a particularly amazing raid, or because of anything I'd done myself, but because it demonstrated just what this server community can do as a whole when differences get put aside. Everyone may have had different reasons for participating, but the end result was the same. It reminded me of the fact that Supermans greatest power (according to him) isnt super strength, or invulnerability. Its his friends. And this community has those in spadesNo SG, no matter how willful or angry, can beat that.

Haven't seen any of the movies, nor read any of the books, but I hear the books are way better.

Player Auction houses are a great example of PvP content
[/ QUOTE ] plz explain
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah I don't see how that's pvp either.
[/ QUOTE ]
The whole sentence he said, "Player Auction houses are a great example of PvP content that is typically embraced by PvE players." PvP = Player vs Player competition. So, I think he means that players will be directly competing against each other in the consignment houses. Just like if they added an implementation of 2 player pong. It would technically be PvP, but not exactly what everyone expects as PvP. It's a somewhat pedantic point.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I specifically went for an example that most people wouldn't think of as PvP. "Pedantic" is, I suppose, deserved.
As for how it is PvP, say you are selling "Progenitor Goo Mk XII" for 800 Quatlu's and I have one I want to sell. I am going to price my item based off not only what the 'market' says it should go for, but also based off of what others are selling for AT THIS MOMENT. So, if I think you're selling too low, I could buy yours, then try to sell both at a higher price. Or, if I think you're selling too high, I can undercut you, reducing your chance of selling. Either way, my actions will effect you, and your actions will effect me. Thus, "PvP."
