Champions United Rules, Limited Collector's Only Edition
That's nice, dear.
The Melee Teaming Guide for Melee Mans
@Celestial Lord and @Celestial Lord Too
Due to the recent extreme popularity of threads for other channels out there, I figured I too should re-clarify the rules of Champions United.
These rules are in place for a reason and should be respected as such. Ive taken the time to break down the rules individually, catagorize, alphabetize, colorize, and any, and all other ize words you can think of. An official draft of these rules will be drawn up in the near future to see if we can get them approved and signed off by Posi himself, this way we can all sleep better at night knowing we have corperate backing. Now on to the rules section: RULES 1. ............oh yeaaaaa..... we don't need no stinkin rules. |
Taking nothing away from your totally unique thread here, this little coincidence just struck me as humorous.
Ping that was my saying if don't like the rules.... Kicks rocks homie. You digg.?
Oh bleep the pingu son. Elf Stalker runs da show.... Dogg
Huh, I thought it was first coined by someone else making fun of Bud.

What show? Is there a show? And did you really just say bleep? Eh well, I didn't even know you were still around. Thanks for following me into a thread though, Showrunnerdoggdigghomie.
I'm always around... Ask your women!! :0)

I think the point to the humour of this thread is that where BMT is (or was) unnecessarily moderated, the CU Global Channel survives, and strives, without those limitation.
With all due respect, one is a Global Channel and the other is a Tournament League. It is .... well.... comparing Apples to Oranges.

As for its ability to survive under such conditions, I'm not surprised. I see it as a similar argument to the one Apple posed for years when comparing itself to Microsoft. Apple would point at Microsoft's issues with hacking and viruses and say, "Look how much safer our computer is. It never gets viruses," while the tech community would point out that the reason it never got viruses was because nobody gave a crap about Apple and they weren't the big kid in the neighborhood. When I was last here, CU was a fledgling startup borne from the anger of a single moderated SG leader who got mad that he wasn't allowed to be in charge of BMT (a mirror image of what happened with the Hami channel, if I recall correctly). He tried desperately to force his channel to catch on by attacking the rules, leadership, and approach of BMT, and with his SG-mates and a variety of others, it did. However, BMT remained the big kid in the neighborhood, though I can honestly say it doesn't matter to me what channel has what popularity since the point of all of this silliness is for folks to enjoy the game.
The rules that were decided upon for BMT were put in place simply to make the channel as welcoming to as large a segment of the population as possible. For comparison, I also ran Pingu chat, and its rules were far, far, far different, but such an atmosphere is by no means for everyone. Kinda of like how the Pingus' Pass the TO game isn't for everyone, eh Dinah? BMT was designed to be a family-friendly option to help folks with their quests to attain certain badges, monsters, and task forces while also doubling as a helpful landing ground for newer players. CU was built with a different goal in mind, much like Pingu chat, so comparing it to BMT is, as you so appropriately put it, quite like comparing apples to oranges. It never really made sense to me why people compared the two at all, since their reason for existence was quite different.
Now that I've learned that CU is still in existence, I'll happily recommend folks head over there if they are unhappy with the approach and design of BMT.

Currently I'm reading the "God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins, so I see this as "Natural Selection". CU is a mutation of the BMT. Only time will tell .....

Or maybe even c) both. Who knows?

They have the same basic structure if viewed from afar (both comprised of the same basic elements and molecules, both inhabit the same general ecosystem known as Earth, etc.), but when one takes a moment to truly look at their nature and purpose, is there any reason for them to be compared and one to be declared better than the other? Both seem to excel in their given niche and serve their given purpose quite well. Both seem nigh useless if placed in the other's niche and forced to attempt to serve the other's given purpose (chlorophyll is one thing ants have yet to master, to my knowledge). Sometimes, comparisons are useless even if both objects came from the same source.
As Einstein said, "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
I apologize if I gave the impression that everyone that left BMT for CU did so for a selfish reason. Only the founder of CU left for the reason I stated. After that, many people shifted to CU simply due to its different nature and approach, which is a perfectly valid reason in my mind.
Hm. Interesting. Comparison neither accurate enough to be reasonably considered satire nor absurd enough to be clearly facetious.
Perhaps only funny to Canadians. Defective humour gland? Bears investigation.

Guys have a milk shake and set on toilet cause cause every player has a preferrence on how they want to play the game.
Whether rules are 'needed' or not largely reflects member preference. Since there are several members in both channels, it can be safely assumed that both styles of moderation are effective. What's important, in my opinion, is not which style is 'better', but that a choice exists so that people can pick the channel that suits them. The fact that the channels have different qualities is a good thing.

Some people actually appreciated that the channel was kept game-related.
