  1. Good idea. I'd like to add the minotaur head. Allow the Terminotaur to become whole!
  2. I would love to see us be able to cuztomize and make our own giant monsters in our arcs. I realize these would have to be outdoors but so be it! Would love to design my own toon the size of Jack of Irons (does he still drum for Pearl Jam? Anyway...). Just hoping that is a future feature!
  3. I will say a lot of the TFs need to be changed. They are horrid. In my 2 years here I have one toon with the task force commander accolade. The sole reason is due to how painful the TFs are to play. It's like work. The worse has to be Synapse.

DEVS, please, make some changes! Synapse is repetition defined! Change it up! Lots of running around and the same thing over and over. I realize these were done long ago and designed to take a lot of time so players were doing something and didn't complain about running out of things to do but please....there's lots....change them so we could actually enjoy them! The Shadow Shard ones hurt too....so much running around.....ugh...pain!

Finally, I am all for longer TFs/SFs if they are interesting and don't involve running all over for no reason. I think the game is at a point now where these things could be 'updated' after GR. After Mission Architect was released it seems altering a few missions in a TF/SF wouldn't be too tough
  4. I tried out CHAMPS in hopes it would have more potential than this game. It obviously did not. Unfortunately this game is still stale to me and I hope GR changes that. Anyway, there are a few ideas this game could 'borrow' from CO to make it oh so much better. The things that have great potential from CO: the Nemesis system and the effects/look of the power armour powers. Those are the big ones and would be quite cool to add to this game. Not the exact same but, yeah...

Everyone has their own taste as far as humor is concerned. We are all allowed voice our opinions as well. You liked Jay's post while others did not (I thought it was in poor taste). He is also a representative of this game and may want to consider this and try not to tick off the paying customer. That is how service oriented industry tends to work.

Honestly, I could care less what he says or spews. His opinion/point/comments don't effect me (and I am sure most of us). However, we all have the right to comment on it.

So, moving on, when's the next GR info going to be released!
  6. Possibly one of the worst TFs in the game. Good luck getting peeps. One of the main reasons I have the TFC accolade on one toon in 2 years.
  7. I play on Virtue (mostly) and yes, we are running out of names. Sure, you can go out and find some obscure versions of a name you want etc. Or you can add various letters and hyphens at the end, periods etc to get your name. No thanks. I think that is ridiculous. I also really really dislike non-names such as Orion's Sword or that ilk. Silly, really. How many iconic, popular, classic supers have such names?!?!?

On the other hand, I do love how there is only 1 of your name on the server. So, what to do? I suggest releasing names for toons as the policy currently exists and if they have been dormant for over 4 years then any toon under 40 should have its name removed. Come one....4 years?! Or something like that. Given the vast amount of toons created over the years the name issue is becoming a bit of a problem.

I would also be disappointed if I was to come back when/if GR hits and the best name I could come up with was something like: xXX StaIker Xxx That would make me lose some interest. This game is aging and many good names get taken and get locked away.

So, long story short, good names ARE running out!

I don't think we're bent about it. Well, not me really but it seems a bit rude and arrogant. This game has been sub-par lately and we still support it in hopes of GR being a significant upgrade to this game (my opinion and some SG mates as well). Then you get that antagonizing bit of dribble from a DEV. Honestly, it's not a big deal but when you go and 'slap' your playerbase in the face with those type of comments...well...it's not the best move. It hasn't changed my opinion of the game and it is one DEV only kinda stirring the pot. Ah well. A bit immature and tasteless but that's just my opinion

I also think some of us may have set our expectations a bit too high with GR. Many of my CoH buds make it sound like they're expecting CoH v. 2.0. Although this expansion has been in the works for maybe a year, I can't see it being that big. Unfortunately, to extend this game's lifespan, it might have to be. Stay tooned, true believers!

Remember way back in the day when this thread got started and everyone was like “WOW those are great resistance costume pieces, I can’t wait to wear them, splat, splat, splat,” and “Oh super keen, first I changed my desktop to a lolz cat and now my crippling depression doesn’t seem so bad anymore, because I have a reason to live again, I get to wear glowing stuff.” Well, get out a mop and find something sharp. That picture is of a NPC, not a new costume set.

Me so sorry about that there wasn’t a clearer explanation of what was going on in the screenshot, I really am. But when you get down it and think about this rationally, this is really your fault, you jumped to a conclusion. You know I told you a thousand times not to do that, but I guess I need to teach you another lesson in the silence of the basement, next to the treadmill you don’t use anymore. Looks like you and I won’t be going over to your mothers for dinner like you planned. Canceled! The writing is on the wall baby, you are going to just have to tell the neighbors how clumsy you are, and just deal with it. Let the guilt of your wrong doings lead you on a path to righteousness. You’re welcome.

See how I turned that around, take a note kids.

Wow. That was nice. Could this be one of the many reasons why this game's player base has become so low? Probably!

Seriously, we get a screen shot with no explanation after months of waiting and then are told it's an NPC? Seriously? Wow is all I can say. I really hope GR is worth the wait. Looks like GR might have to be a big deal in order for this game to retain players. For me, it is the make or break point. Too much other stuff going on for me to put up with the way NC Soft has been treating the CoX customer. Way too much competition out there and it's growing
  10. Who are these people??? Guest authors? I don't think I know them?
  11. I really hope they improve their community relations dept. The latest news is informative but there isn't a lot to it. CO has constant updates but their game is just too lacking right now - hopefully CoX can get into that mode and update frequently.

I also get the sense that we are not really being told the whole truth here...call me a conspiracy theorist but they tend to keep a lot quiet even when they tell us about stuff. Ah well...they have some good reason to do this, I guess
  12. Hi WW! Gratz on your new position - from one Vancouverite to another! So, I was hoping if you could answer some or all of the following:

    - What direction are you planning on taking the game? Lately we have been getting a lot of issues/additions but little to do. Some players feel a game of this vintage has to keep evolving to keep it's players. I notice the player numbers are very low lately and maybe this is a partial explanation? So, what will be your focus in the upcoming year? More missions, game mechanics, innovations?

    - Will you be looking at older content? Some of it is not enjoyable and just plain work. For example: Synapse TF and the Posi TF among others. There is numerous content that can be fine tuned but changing up the TFs might be a good start. A lot of the missions and TFs/SFs tend to have a lot of pointless running around. I am hoping this is done away with as well for future content - make the story streamlined and relevant.

    - Will you be using new maps and environments for future content? The same old mission maps have been done to beyond death. Hoping they don't get used much in any future content additions.

    - Will you be merging the markets?

    Thanks!

None of that is true at all

Your prayers will not be answered

Wow, I am so glad you have posted such a useful post! It's awesome! Good work!

Oh, and why would you say i17 being light and before GR is not true?! I am pretty sure they noted that at Hero Con but could be wrong. Either way, not a big deal. I am on a break from the game and hoping GR brings me back. That is my make or break point for the game so my hopes are high

Oh, I also hope you learn how to make a constructive post as opposed to just pick on what others post.
  14. Essentially no new info. Great. And the beat goes on.

Although props for the new changes and what not.

I also don't buy the OP stating there has been no new info cuz they have been so busy. Rubbish. Keeping the players in the dark the way they have is tantamount to to a slap in the face. Sad.

I do like a change in lead development. I still remember last year (maybe in May?) how they promised the next few issues would be huge and there are huge things coming this year. Well, the issues have not been huge and GR might be that huge add we've needed. The only positive I take from this is a new lead dev. I have been around for i12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 - the only ones that were decent: 12 and 14. 13 was almost a complete joke and 15 wasn't really an issue. Apparently 17 is supposed to be light too and should be out 'soon' or before GR so who really knows.

War Witch, PLEASE inject this game with items that make it fresh and exciting. I hope your version of content isn't doing the same missions, with the same minions, same maps but with different text. This game is too repetitive and it wears on me. I pray the dev team never uses any of the existing maps in a mission ever again. Make up a new group and slowly add to them. Go back and fix the old TF's - they are not fun to play at all (esepcially Synapse and Posi). Add some new mechanics and stop adding items that are like what we have. I beg you!
  15. I also have to wonder why next to no news about GR and even i17. If they are going to try and release an issue every 4 months then 17 should be out soon. Doesn't seem like that is going to happen (oh, when I say soon I mean like in a few weeks...not the CoH soon which is, apparently, a year+)
  16. It's early 2010 and no news at all. I thought this was the period where closed beta invites were to be looked at? Has there been a set back?
  17. Ya, the market people are really annoying. I don't mind not getting precise details bur how about SOME news. Is i17 still coming up before GR. Any features we can hear about in i17? Anything?!
  18. I feel it's a bit much not to release any additional info since Hero Con. Honestly, that doesn't bug me too much. The big issue is what will GR contain. This game's high repetition is wearing on me but I do enjoy many aspects of it. GR will need to have much more than shown at Hero Con, IMO. A lot of the GR features revealed at Hero Con were 'fluff' type additions.

We didn't get details on side switching - will the missions be using the same old maps and be something like the tasks we need to complete to join the Midnighter's Club? That is tiring for the umpteenth time. The new area looks decent but, at first glance, it seems like....another city....don't we have a large one of those already lol.

Anyway, I am hoping there is much more to GR than revealed. Some new systems, game mechanics etc would be wild.

Oh, and maybe a recipe price cap (dependent and varying on recipe type) might be nice. It would be nice to, one day, actually be able to afford to put a full purple set in one toon.

Exactly what I'm doing now. I can't even IO out my toons cuz the market is just stupid. It's just frustrating to watch a good product start to fade away.

I hope GR is much more than what they have revealed. If not then I will have to find a new game. I already tried to go to CO but they aren't quite there yet.

I doubt I'm the only vet that has become bored. GR is taking forever. Another booster pack would help, but I doubt I'll log in again untill GR goes live. I just can't redo the same content anymore.
Gotsta agree here. I am tired of the same old same old as well. All of the game adds have been primarily 'fluff' and nothing really new to do. I seriously hope the DEVS have realized they aren't fooling us when they tell us we have 'new' content and it's the same old mission map, enemy groups and looks - it isn't new when all you do is change the text to a mish.

Some news/updates would be nice. I thought i17 was coming out before GR. If i17 is going to be more fluff then just skip it. Honestly. The game has a ton of 'content' and adding anymore of this 'content' would be too much - make it new and exciting!
  21. Is there a decent red side population on protector?

Then another portion qualifies as blatantly obvious.

So, um, you're saying "We need more new content and it should be good." Okay, I think everyone can get behind this.

No offense but, if we think ideas are bad, we're allowed to say so. That's kind of the point of a public forum. Please note, you're not getting "No" or "/jranger". You're getting comments like "I don't think this has broad appeal." "You're overlooking obvious items." etc.

I'm always amused when I see comments like that, since they always seem to reflect at least a little of "If you don't agree with me, go away."

Yeeeeah, I have no problems actually having feedback on my posts. None at all. I was just hoping people would put in their 2 cents and ideas so we could discuss them. If you want to just be critical and then start on your soapbox about how it's your right...well...be my guest. I could really care less.

The very tone of your post is confrontational and that's your right. I just don't see the point. Your 'feedback' basically says: I don't like it and that's my right. Brilliant. Way to contribute. Ah well.

Also, my new content comment seemed to be obvious but I think you missed the point. Obviously we want new content but not the way we have been getting it (IMO). Re-hashing the same old is dull. Obviously this is my opinion.

Anyway, I can see this post is not generating ideas the way I hoped. Just a haven for some trolls

This could be fun, but I fear that it could end up like so many of the GMs. After awhile people just don't care anymore.

I would like to see new missions for all levels, not just 50s

The Nemesis system on CO is one of the things I hated about that game. I wouldn't care if they added it here as long as it's optional.

There are so many temp weapon powers that something like this would be easy to add. I'd just leave it as a temp power thats just fun to have and not something that could overpower a build.

Time will tell if they ever will do something like this. I remember reading in the past about how the powers were balanced by the number we have now. Adding new powers to the mix could end up with a new round of nerfs.

It takes a lot of work to make totally new content. That's why they pad what we have by re-hashing older content

The sad thing is that the more control of content you give to players, the more farms and other "junk" will be made. It's just how it goes. It doesn't matter how many times you tell people that something isn't for that. They will do it anyway and then whine when it's taken away/nerfed. We were told from day one that AE wasn't for farming, but after a very short time that's all anyone was using it for. I still run into people that can't understand why they lost the AE farms then ask how they get to Independence Port right after.
Great points for the most part but I must still with my OP. I think letting players add an arch-enemy would allow them to add to the game and limit their control of how it's done. Could be the perfect balance - most would love to see the new enemy appear etc.

I realize new stuff is a lot of work. So, do the work. Adding more re-hash is not enjoyable at all IMO. Seen it over and over...why add to it? I would even be all for an issue which only introduces a pile of new maps...just that...seriously.
  24. Well, something for the level 50s to do? Here are a few ideas.

    1) How about, at 50, supers get enlisted into a new service where they deal with high end threats/missions etc. Being a member of this squad allows you access to lvl 50 only arcs. Each arc would involve a new signature super (not another version of the current ones). All new signature supers that we have to deal with. These arcs could slowly be added by the DEVS and perhaps DEVS could include arcs from AE in here and make them canon (they were mentioning this before). Oh, these should include all new maps

Another good way to intro new signature supers would be to have each one run through P.I. or Grandville - using the same element as the rikti invasion. However, it would be just one AV or Hero (suped up a bit in the open environment maybe) to deal with. These open world 'invasions' would only happen to intro the new super and could reward a badge. Once that person has been intro.ed then maybe move to a different one. I figure doing this 'invasion' style intro is easier than a new arc.

    2) Since we have a ton of repetitive content, please make all new content a bit more interesting and not so intentionally time consuming. We have a ton to do so any future material needs to be new.

    3) Our own Nemesis system ('borrowed' from Champions, to a degree). Have a zone, or front, that is not as well gaurded and where only 40+ can travel to. That zone should only be occupied by some new minions and AVs/Heroes created by the players. Every time we hit 40, we have the option of making our arch-enemy. This enemy can exist continuously in this unprotected/open zone. Extra rewards for going in and dealing with him/her/it! Perhaps, if your toon reaches level 50 then this arch-enemy gets powerful enough to hit the regular environment and it would be an open mission - to beat the random enemy in the zone. It would beat the constant zombies and rikti invasions - I like both of these but in moderation. Between the new area/zone and having your enemy 'invading', each of us may see our counterpart every now and then!

Also, perhaps the DEVS would allow us to create a Giant Monster in addition to our arch-enemy. One GM per account when any toon dings 50 - like an unlock. The GM could be in the new area and outdoor environments. This GM would also plague heroes, vills and Praetoria zones (outdoor).

    4) Perhaps, at lvl 50, give us the ability/option to buy weapons. No more than maybe 2 at a time and allow us to slot them. These weapons should be in a 2nd section on our build. Each weapon is one slot and can max out at 3 slots. We can easily obtain them, delete the weapon and get a new one or just replace them with a different weapon. Slots obtained via XP - no need to level but just get XP.

    5) Level 50 - 1 extra divine power. An arc where, if you complete it, you have the opportunity to get 1 new divine/super power. 6 slottable and those slots are, again, gained via XP. Perhaps a NEW power for each AT (examples of new powers: missile launcher from shoulder, gattling gun on shoulder, power staff, power javelin etc.).

    6) NO MORE re-hash of existing content. There is enough of that. Let's keep everything else here on in fresh and new!

Anyway, I think the more you involve the player, the more fun. So, I would love to see more player stuff (arch-enemies) etc. Architect Entertainment is an awesome tool but there is too much junk in there; too many farms. This would be another cool way to get more player involvement.
