Some End Game Ideas/ New Ideas (kinda)
Here's the thing. If they announced tomorrow that every single one of these things has been implemented, I guarantee you that by middle of January at the latest, people would be complaining yet more about how there's no new content, and the devs need to [insert more ideas here].
It's a never-ending cycle. The devs do add new content, for 50s and for other levels as well.

Nice of you to poo poo my ideas without offering any suggestions

I think this belongs in the suggestions thread rather than the General Discussions thread.
So, I guess we should just stop adding content? I think you missed the main idea here. New content that is different and allows the player to put more of their creations in game.

A good portion of your post is stuff that appeals not at all to me and that I think has very limited appeal to the general population.
Then another portion qualifies as blatantly obvious.
2) Since we have a ton of repetitive content, please make all new content a bit more interesting and not so intentionally time consuming. We have a ton to do so any future material needs to be new. 6) NO MORE re-hash of existing content. There is enough of that. Let's keep everything else here on in fresh and new! ![]() |

I'm always amused when I see comments like that, since they always seem to reflect at least a little of "If you don't agree with me, go away."

I think you're missing the point too. So you're describing something here that YOU want, that appeals to YOU.

So, um, you're saying "We need more new content and it should be good." Okay, I think everyone can get behind this. No offense but, if we think ideas are bad, we're allowed to say so. That's kind of the point of a public forum. Please note, you're not getting "No" or "/jranger". You're getting comments like "I don't think this has broad appeal." "You're overlooking obvious items." etc. I'm always amused when I see comments like that, since they always seem to reflect at least a little of "If you don't agree with me, go away." |
Yeeeeah, I have no problems actually having feedback on my posts. None at all. I was just hoping people would put in their 2 cents and ideas so we could discuss them. If you want to just be critical and then start on your soapbox about how it's your right...well...be my guest. I could really care less.
The very tone of your post is confrontational and that's your right. I just don't see the point. Your 'feedback' basically says: I don't like it and that's my right. Brilliant. Way to contribute. Ah well.
Also, my new content comment seemed to be obvious but I think you missed the point. Obviously we want new content but not the way we have been getting it (IMO). Re-hashing the same old is dull. Obviously this is my opinion.
Anyway, I can see this post is not generating ideas the way I hoped. Just a haven for some trolls

Okay, then, in the spirit of generating the discussion you say you want -- can you give some solid examples of new content that was delivered "not the way we have been getting it"?

I'm not trolling. It's not that your ideas are bad ideas, it's just that basically you're saying, "I want to see new and different stuff." Well, welcome to the club, we all do. It's not particularly insightful, the devs already know it, and every issue, we do get new and exciting stuff. With Going Rogue around the corner, within six months or so, were about to get a lot of new and exciting stuff.
Plus, Ironblade makes a valid point. You assert that the stuff we've been getting is boring. That's your opinion. While you may firmly believe it and you have every right to, framing your suggestion in the context that it needs to be "fixed" will only turn people away from what might be valid suggestions because they don't hold that point of view.
Last, but not least, the devs have stated before that they're happy with the amount of "endgame" content. They would much rather add content across all levels. By framing your suggestions in the context of "we need more level 50 stuff," you're also turning people away who are 1) new, 2) play a lot of alts, and/or 3) don't want CoH to become more like WoW in that particular respect.

Welcome to the forums, JazMan!
Hey, waitaminute.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
I agree that the variety of things to do needs to be kicked up a notch. Our 'door' missions are pretty much the same thing: enter an area, defeat mobs, collect glowies, occasionally guard/escort someone or fend off attacks. Street sweeping = just that, pummel everyone you run across.
One thing I LIKE about WoW is the different kinds of things you're tasked to do.
For example: One of the rogue-specific quests is to get a shipping manifest. If you try and take it by force, you get curbstomped. If you try and insta-kill the person carrying it, the item can't be found on the body, and ... you get curbstomped by the guards. You have to figure out how to get the item without being seen or heard. Another quest involves a bar brawl - you're told to take the drunk dude's lucky beer mug.
Granted, most of WoW is grind-y, especially at higher levels. But the Blizzard devs know that occasionally mixing up the things you're supposed to do is a good thing. We could use a bit more of that in CoH. I for one would love a 'burning building' scenario where you have to run in and save someone, rather than put the fire out or beat up the arsonists. I would love a destructable-environment Mission Map, where you can cause secondary damage by knocking your opponents through things. I'd love a "protect a vehicle or convoy" map. Or a puzzle mission where you have to locate/procure something vital before the timer runs out (over the course of several missions).
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
None of the suggestions in the OP really caught my eye, but Soul Train's ideas are pretty darn good in my opinion.

Feel free to try out my AE mission arc, # 473452: Praetorian Redemption

Well, something for the level 50s to do? Here are a few ideas.

Perhaps, if your toon reaches level 50 then this arch-enemy gets powerful enough to hit the regular environment and it would be an open mission - to beat the random enemy in the zone. It would beat the constant zombies and rikti invasions - I like both of these but in moderation. Between the new area/zone and having your enemy 'invading', each of us may see our counterpart every now and then!

1) How about, at 50, supers get enlisted into a new service where they deal with high end threats/missions etc. Being a member of this squad allows you access to lvl 50 only arcs. Each arc would involve a new signature super (not another version of the current ones). All new signature supers that we have to deal with. These arcs could slowly be added by the DEVS and perhaps DEVS could include arcs from AE in here and make them canon (they were mentioning this before). Oh, these should include all new maps
Another good way to intro new signature supers would be to have each one run through P.I. or Grandville - using the same element as the rikti invasion. However, it would be just one AV or Hero (suped up a bit in the open environment maybe) to deal with. These open world 'invasions' would only happen to intro the new super and could reward a badge. Once that person has been intro.ed then maybe move to a different one. I figure doing this 'invasion' style intro is easier than a new arc.
2) Since we have a ton of repetitive content, please make all new content a bit more interesting and not so intentionally time consuming. We have a ton to do so any future material needs to be new.
3) Our own Nemesis system ('borrowed' from Champions, to a degree). Have a zone, or front, that is not as well gaurded and where only 40+ can travel to. That zone should only be occupied by some new minions and AVs/Heroes created by the players. Every time we hit 40, we have the option of making our arch-enemy. This enemy can exist continuously in this unprotected/open zone. Extra rewards for going in and dealing with him/her/it!
Also, perhaps the DEVS would allow us to create a Giant Monster in addition to our arch-enemy. One GM per account when any toon dings 50 - like an unlock. The GM could be in the new area and outdoor environments. This GM would also plague heroes, vills and Praetoria zones (outdoor).
4) Perhaps, at lvl 50, give us the ability/option to buy weapons. No more than maybe 2 at a time and allow us to slot them. These weapons should be in a 2nd section on our build. Each weapon is one slot and can max out at 3 slots. We can easily obtain them, delete the weapon and get a new one or just replace them with a different weapon. Slots obtained via XP - no need to level but just get XP.
5) Level 50 - 1 extra divine power. An arc where, if you complete it, have the opportunity to get 1 new divine/super power. 6 slottable and those are, again, gained via XP. Perhaps a NEW power for each AT (examples of new powers: missile launcher from shoulder, gattling gun on shoulder, power staff etc.).
6) NO MORE re-hash of existing content. There is enough of that. Let's keep everything else here on in fresh and new!
Anyway, I think the more you involve the player, the more fun. So, I would love to see more player stuff (arch-enemies) etc. Architect Entertainment is an awesome tool but there is too much junk in there; too many farms. This would be another cool way to get more player involvement.
