Thanks, this is pretty much the exact advice I needed. The reason I was focusing on Damage buffs is that, for the majority of the time leading up to now I soloed thi character. But recently I've gotten into a lot of task forces and have been left feeling like I'm falling behind in the damage department. Mobs are falling down dead before I can even get a good fury bar going!
But I can definately see the wisdom in the percentage sizes of dam buffs not being of great benefit to a brute. Thanks for the build Pine. I might tinker with it to try and fit Pyre Mastery in instead of dark. I like the idea of jumping into the middle of a spawn, letting off Melt Armor to get their attention then cutting loose with a couple of AoE attacks. -
I've been playing on and off on various accounts since villains launch but I have never actualy gotten a hero all the way to level 50. At least until now. My Street Justice/Willpower brute is currently level 43 and is still huge amounts of fun to play and so is going to steamroll through to 50 and so I am looking to put together an IO build for her.
I have a little under 1 billion to play with, but am willing to play the market to get more until I can afford a great build. The one I have put together focuses on Damage Buffs and elemental defense when I can fit it.
Any help would be appreciated, this will be my first real IO build so I'm happy to take on any info you guys can give me.

Quote:This is very true. Working in the tourism/hospitality industry we are taught to live by the mantra "Being right is the booby prize".Just remember, you can be as much of a **** as you want with any customer service. It CAN be very satisfying...
But if you want a desired result, it is often better for you to suck it up and put on a smiley face until you get the answer you want. You have to decide upon your goals: do you want to get the desired result, or do you want to make the person who might be able to help you get that result feel small and foolish and 'Less than You.'
[I am currently reinforcing this in dealing with insurance companies.] If you feel like the treatment you're getting is less professional/competent/helpful than you think you deserve, you can, after you've achieved your desired result, complain to their superiors, or the appropriate authorities.
But sometimes, if you want what you want, you have to do what it takes to get what you want. Pride be damned. Sometimes it's OK to throw a tantrum, but it generally does not get you what you want; usually you only get strange looks. Deciding what is truly important is one of those things you get to do as a grown-up.
If you think that makes you less 'tough' than you want to feel, ... well, I'm glad I took the other path and saved $4000 a few years ago, among many other victories, and my manhood is aok, tyvm.
You may be right, it may even be well deserved to call someone an idiot, but it won't get you the result you want so why bother. If you can smile politely for two seconds and keep your voice down (or caps off as the case may be) then you most likely will get the desired result if it is in the powerof the CS rep.
I should probably let this go, the issue has been resolved and it doesn't really feel like the OP is going to learn anything from what I say... -
Well then don't be surprised when you get jerked around a bit more. It amazes me that some people still haven't realised just how far a little civility and general politeness will get them when dealing with customer service reps. I'll bend over backwards for someone who seems like a nice person, but if someone is being an arrogant ********* (just talking generally not you specifically) then I will use my wonderful discretionary power to tell them "Sorry, there's nothing we can do to help you"
-
I want to suggest that everyone gets long range teleport as an inherent power...

Hi everyone! You know how when people talk about Free 2 Play models being about 5% of the population spending enough to finance the play of the other 95%?
*Waves hand* Hi, I'm the 5%!
I have plenty of disposable income that I can spend on neat little gadgets and toys that make my game more enjoyable. The problem is, if I find it difficult to buy them, I won't! Right now I'm sitting on about 9000 paragon points and I'm not spending them because I just find the Paragon Market so frustrating to use.
So, having said that I've got a few suggestions for the Market UI. Please read through them and feel free to correct any inaccuracies and of course feel free to add your own suggestions!
BOUGHT ITEMS
The big one is up first, and one that has been raised by many players already. Any account wide item that I have already purchased has absolutely no business being in my Paragon Market still. I don't know how the tech works fo the Paragon Market (and frankly I don't really care) but once I've bought an item that I can only buy once it needs to get lost so I don't have to remember for myself whether I have bought it already or not.
CONTINUE SHOPPING
When I add items to my cart and then press continue shopping I should be returned to the exact page I was on when I left. Currently if I am on (for example) page 4 of the Storage list and then add something to my cart, when I press continue shopping it drops me back to page 1. Not cool! Put me back on the page I was on when I left.
FINDING YOUR CART
Now, I'm not sure here, but I can find no way of actually getting to my cart without adding something to it. So if I have added something to my cart and then Continued shopping but decided not to buy anything else, I have to add something else to my cart just to get back to it.
TOOL TIPS
I'm not sure who designs your UI and its buttons but you should really let them know just because they know what a button does, doesn't mean that we do! For example I was in my wish list and saw a blue cart icon with a down arrow. I hovered my mouse over it to find out what it did and lo and behold... nothing. Do you have problems with people knowing what is going to happen before they press a button? Because trust me, when money and purchases are concerned if I don't know exactly what is going to happen then I won't do it. I wasn't sure if the button would automatically process those items or just add them to my cart and so I ended up just leaving it alone. And you know what, that means I didn't buy the items in question.
In closing let me say this. Everything you see above comes from a place of love. If I may seem a little aggravated it's because when I want to spend money and the person I want to give my money to actively hinders me it leaves me a little frustrated. Anyone else who has any little gripes about the Market UI, or has any suggestions about how it can be improved (or who just wants to tell me I'm an idiot who should shut up) feel free to comment and I'll try and update the original post with any new material so everything is kept together. -
Asked the question on the help channel earlier but wasn't able to get an answer. Is there anyway to hide all buffs in the team window except the ones you cast? I know with the AoE changes to buffs its not as important as in the past, but I like to know who has and hasn't gotten buffed but I'm not very good at sorting through the list that goes halfway across the screen.
I've goten rid of auto buff icons, and it has helped a little but was hoping you could go all the way. -
Really really annoying that the changes aren't reflected in the market, but I've never been able to purchase something twice. You are able to add it to your basket but when it actually gets to taking points off I get a "Allowable quantity exceeded" error and the purchase doesn't go through. If this didn't happen for you then you should definately get in touch with CS.

So am I the only one having trouble with this? I see Street Justice in the new character creation process with a link for the Store, but when I try and go and purchase it I get the error message
Unknown offer SKU in request; cannot process request
And I can't find it by searching the store. Is it just not available yet? -
Had this exact problem and managed to stumble on fixing it this way. Was still annoying though and for some reason I had to do it twice before it seemed to take.
Good idea posting it for those who have the same problem. -
I knew it would be simple! Unfortunately I was also hoping it would be possible. Thanks for the quick reply
-
So, hopefully a simple kind of question. Is there any way to have a winged character have their wings extended while they are running (rather than folded at their back)?
-
Having the same issue and when I force a start all the servers say they're up. Really annoying.
-
Hi everyone. I'm probably missing something really obvious so feel free to mock and ridicule me, but I'm having trouble with the global channels. I have joined a global channel on my server but I can only see that channel on the toon I joined it on. Every other character I log into does not get the MOTD from that channel and I can't see any of the chat.
I tried joining the channel again but obviously they work off of global IDs so it said I was already part of that channel. Any help would be appreciated. -
Hi everyone,
New player and MM's are pretty much my second archetype I'm serious about playing and I have one question regarding pet commands.
Is the STAY command completely broken or is it just me. I read that using STAY DEFENSIVE allows you to stay in bodyguard mode so I thought to myself "Great, this way I can stay in bodyguard and keep my silly pet robots from running up an thwacking people."
Alas, it seems, that this is not the case. Everytime I set them into STAY DEFENSIVE and they get attacked they will move away from their designated area to start playing whack-a-malta. In fact I've had them chase an NPC halfway across maps, finally finish killing them to have them run back to their stay spot and then sit there.
Is this something that everyone deals with or am I just doing something wrong? I have looked over the threads regarding binds for MM pets and have changed several of the generic once that you start with to suit me, but I was just wondering whether this particular aspect of the STAY command was WAI.
If it is WAI (or a bug that has no intention of being fixed) can anyone suggest good work arounds at keeping range pets at range. I've tried STAY and GOTO but they always seem to want to run off every second attack. -
Quote:Oh well there's the answer to my problem. Can't they just create a Complete Items Pack. One pack with all the boosters rolled into one so I can buy them all at once?I know many credit card companies' fraud detection software is designed specifically to look for lots of small identical transactions over a small period of time. In and of itself that wouldn't be automatically considered a potentially fraudulent red flag, but taken in combination with other factors that may surround the NCSoft store it might generate enough problems to make the practice problematic on a large scale for them.
I'm sure I'm not alone in being a new player who would like to get the full set of booster packs. -
Quote:Yeah, I wasn't aware of this practice (though it does make sense). I guess I just dislike being treated like a potential criminal when all I want to do is buy stuff. I have the same problem with some of the really invasive DRM thats popped up over the years. If I remember correctly, CC companies charge vendors for chargebacks, even if it's on a stolen card. After a certain amount of chargebacks, they raise the cost for that vendor to use their cards or flat out refuse to allow them to process charges anymore.
A game company can't take that chance as it would deprive many of it's players of a payment method, so fraud prevention measures are put in place.
Also, some of the fraud prevention measures don't originate at the NCSoft store but with the credit card companies themselves. The NCSoft store then has to follow those measures to use that credit card companies services. -
Yeah, I know credit card fraud is serious business (although I know how much money is in my account and where I am spending it so the one time I have had to deal with this I was aware of it pretty quickly).
I am unaware of the process banks go through after they are made aware of credit card fraud. I only know that when I notified my bank of my issue I had the money back in my account within 48 hours. I assumed that they then followed up with the police, giving them the information of the online website the card was used at so it could be followed up. (To be perfectly honest I didn't really care what they did after I got my money back, I just assumed they followed it up).
What I really don't understand is the limit of one transaction per 24 hour period. It's the first time I've encountered this online, and I use online shopping a lot, for both digital purchases and physical purchases. For instance, I use Good Old Games to buy a lot of different old games (digital copies) and never once have I been told that I have to wait for another 24 hours to pass before I can buy another one. Same goes for physical purchases from online department stores.
Anyway, I'm not trying to get it changed or anything like that. If that's the way they want to do business then more power to them. It will probably just mean that I will lose interest in some of the booster packs (like the ones that just add costume pieces and emotes) and won't buy them, instead focusing on the ones that give ingame powers or the ones with costume pieces I really want.
PS: By the way, I'm not sure about banks in the States but I have (In Australia) had my bank call me three times over the life of my CC (about 2 years now) to ask me about what they considered "suspect charges" to make sure I actually had made the purchase and the card hadn't been stolen. I've even had them put a temporary hold on my card because I made a purchase in another country and hadn't told them I would be travelling (I used a seperate card to book flights and accomodation) -
I've never understood credit card fraud being a problem with digital purchases though. So what, a bank calls up the NCSoft store and says the card used to purchase X product was stolen. If the product was a physical item then yes, NCSoft would have an issue. However all I'm purchasing is a digital unlock for my account. In the event the bank does say it is a stolen credit card then they just lock the account and NCSoft has lost no money.
-
Wow, okay thanks guys for the speedy reply.
Am I the only one that thinks that's kinda silly? I mean I'm sure it helps with credit card fraud and all that but one purchase per 24 hours?? I've had bad experiences with Paypal in the past so I'm not going to be using them, but it's kinda annoying that there are 8 or so different packs that I want to get so I'm going to have to wait 8 days to get them all.
Oh well, seems like bad business sense to me, but if that's the way it works not much I can do about it. Thanks for the info guys. -
Hi everyone,
I've been trying to purchase CoH booster packs from the NCSoft store for the past 24 hours and have been unable to. I keep getting the message:
Quote:Now as much as I would like to there are no retail partners in my area that sell these items, so I'm wondering whether anyone else is having this trouble and whether it would be worthwhile contacting the NCSoft support. Or is this just a matter of their system being down and it will be back up when it is back up?We're sorry, but we are unable to accept your order at this time. Please try again later or tomorrow. If you continue to have problems, you may wish to visit one of our retail partners.
