You can. When you start the installer for Beta point it to the folder where you put the copied files, let it run a short time to create the registry entries and then cancel the install. Then run a Repair.
I generally point it to an empty folder and let it start the install and let it run a few minutes, cancel the install and then copy the folder over, then run a Repair.
Just remember, the Beta install may be making significant changes to the files so it may need to download a rather large amount to get the assets correctly updated. It did this before the NCSoft Launcher was introduced as well if there were significant changes in the files. -
Quote:Premium accounts, such as yours, cannot change their avatars except to remove them. I've seen Premium accounts that already had an avatar set displaying them, but the only thing they could change was to remove it.I'm not sure I canput up an avatar, but the awesomeface will return if I'm able.
It's cool that the Sat mats are still running, i was pleased when i saw that. Glad to be back. I'm gonna play for a little while and see how it goes and I might even resub if. I've been playing eve online for the last few tars, so its nice to come back to a much more casual friendly place., especially with so many friendly faces
Unless one of the forum maintenance periods changed how it is working, if your avatar was still set from when you were subscribed it should still be showing. If you had removed it, you won't be able to link to one until you resubscribe.
EDIT: Just to iterate a few of your forum restrictions:
No PM capability.
No avatar changing.
No signature changing
No posting in the Blaster forums
No posting in the Justice forums
No posting in the sundry forums
Only posting allowed is in the ALL ACCESS forums. Those are Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs, Player Questions, Suggestions and Ideas, and City Life. All other forum sections are read only for you. -

It also has the circle at the left of the Menu window being totally black, which would imply it's in the Tutorial and they haven't gotten far enough in to make the choice as to whether to be a Hero or a Villain.

Quote:Actually, it seems fair to me.You can't tell me this doesn't seem a little unfair, even if you had to pay before and I realize that too.
What seems unfair to me is how much of the game is being given away from free. Subscribers should have more exclusive content than they have now.
And by exclusive I mean things that aren't available by paying a meager license fee or purchasing enough Paragon Points to move up the Reward Tiers. -
This point was brought up by many people when they first announced the plans for the Hybrid model that they were planning to implement with Freedom.
They have stood firm in their decisions on this. I don't see them suddenly changing their minds now because you don't like it.
Part of the purpose of going to a Hybrid model was to offer inducements to subscribe or to purchase items from the Paragon Market. They could have left IO access as either a VIP only item, VIP or Reward Tier only item, or VIP or License only item.
As Airhammer and Slack Tech rightly pointed out, under the old model if you didn't pay a subscription you couldn't play you characters at all (unless it was one of the Free weekends to try to entice former subscribers to resubscribe). Under the new model you are allowed to play most of the content for free with very small limitations. Many of those limitations can be lifted either by purchasing a license or working your way up the Reward Tiers through purchases of Paragon Points. Most of the licenses are offered at a very small cost.
If you feel that even the small IO License fee is too much to pay to be able to access the benefits that IO's give your character then there isn't much I can say without violating the currently posted Message Forum Rules and Guidelines. -
Most likely you need to wait until Stage 4 finishes downloading and installing.
This was reported in the Gameplay/Technical Issues & Bugs forums last week. -
Just using a bit of guesswork it is likely that the three <string> parameters would represent the following:
Recipient
Subject
Message Body
Of course, what order they go in isn't stated.
As for the <int> parameter, I think it may be something like the following:
Amount of inf to send
Type of Attachment to send (Inspiration, Enhancement, Recipe, Salvage, etc.)
Which attachment of the specified type.
Of course, not knowing what the valid integers are that it will accept doesn't help in determining how to use the command. Since ParagonWiki doesn't list this in the Slash Command List, it's still guesswork as to what is valid for int. You may want to look at /emailsend for help with the <string> portions. You could try the command in game and then compare what it says the parameters are to what ParagonWiki lists. -
Did you by any chance level up after getting those tips but before going to Pocket D?
It doesn't matter if you trained up or not, I'm just curious as to whether or not you leveled up. -
Have all of the stages finished downloading or is it still downloading Stage 4?
If it is still downloading one or more of the stages, you need to wait until it finishes downloading those stages.
This was reported previously by another poster and the problems went away once the game had finished downloading and installing Stage 4.
If it has finished downloading and installing all stages, you may have some corrupted files and need to run the Repair option from the launcher. -
This is very similar behavior to what I get when I try to install the game on my school network unless I remember to set the IP address to an unfiltered address first. Most people using a similar network generally don't have that option but I can get an unfiltered IP when needed since I work in the Technology department and some of our software installations need to be on an unfiltered IP.
As long as I set it to an unfiltered and unblocked IP address, the game continually fails the installation with that message you gave.
Are you on a school network or another network that is using either a proxy server or internet content filter? If so, you likely won't be able to install from that network since they are blocking the communications to the server that you need. -

Log into your Support Account. Note that this is a different account from your Master Account or Game Account. If you haven't created a Support Account, you will need to create one first.
Use the Ask A Question tab. I would list it as a General Gameplay issue in the "I need help" box. Fill in the character names and the zones they are stuck trying to load into in the "Question" box. Give as much information as possible.
If you continue to have problems with getting stuck loading into the game, there may be other factors involved. I'd recommend following the instructions in Hyperstrike's [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread that is stickied in this forum section. -

How do I spend 2XP Weekends?
The same way I spend every weekend that I don't go to a CoH or NCSoft event.
Pantsless. -
Quote:Most of what I've found relating to that error code is due to one of the Fake Anti-Virus variants such as Win 7 Security 2012 that are floating around. Some of the damage lingers at times even after it is removed.Ok i added the ncsoft launcher to my exempt list and still nothing. i turned off norton and still nothing. i tried to adjust my settings on my windows fire wall but i got an error message there. it says windows firewall can't change some of your settings error code 0x80070424. any ideas?
Most of what I've seen also was related to Windows 7 or Windows Vista and I remember from your first post in the other thread that you said you are running Windows XP.
In any event, the problems you are having with the Windows Firewall indicate a larger system issue that is likely what is causing your problems. Once you resolve those problems, you should be able to connect. -
Quote:I had no problems at all reading your small text or Zwankydinkydoo's small text. You know, using blue text doesn't do much when I'm using the Villain skin...
This is about the best color I can find that's hard to read on both skins...
Both are in white on my screen.
And you folks need to lay off Black Pebble.

A Guide to start you off there.
And since I haven't seen you for a while, welcome back. -

Quote:The OP is also apparently unwilling to purchase the Market License to be able to sell them on the Market. So the OP is willing to buy Super Packs but unwilling to unlock extra character slots so he can create the AT's that use the stuff he got.
Not seeing how this is NCSoft's fault. I'm a VIP and there's ATO's I can't use because I don't play those Archetypes. This isn't a problem with F2P accounts it's one of a player's own creation.
Since he has a VIP account he could also trade them to his VIP account and let the VIP account put them on the Market then trade the Influence back to the Premium account or purchase the ATO's specific to the AT's on the Premium accounts two characters and trade them back to the Premium account. Then he could use the Enhancement Catalysts on them as well.
Worst of all, the OP was apparently unwilling to research the Super Packs before purchasing them. There have been feedback threads about the Super Packs and the ATO's on the Beta section of the forums well before they were put into the Paragon Market. Since the OP stated they have a VIP account it would have been a simple matter to just read the feedback there. It would have even been easy to ask questions there. There were posts and information on the public sections of the forums shortly after they hit the Paragon Market. It would have been simple to read those and even ask questions before purchasing them.
The information was available that the Enhancement Catalysts weren't tradeable and were bound.
The information was there that the ATO's could be sold at Wentworth's/Black Market. The information has been out for months that Tier 2 cannot use the Auction Houses without purchasing a License.
The information was there that Reward Merits were in the pack. The information has been out there for quite a while as to what Tier 2 can purchase with Reward Merits.
And this is all NCSoft's fault because the OP didn't research before purchasing?

Seriously...you don't lose what you pay for...because you never got what you paid for to begin with.
You apparently weren't willing to pay for access to the systems that would let you use all of the items in them immediately. -
Careful there UP. If you buy some packs anyway just to sell the ATO's you have a very good chance that one or two accounts will wind up with the wolf and you'll spend waaaaaaay more on the other account(s) in order to get the wolf to keep from killing your soul.

Quote:I'm curious.To add to that:
For a good Regeneration value with an efficient use of slots, Numina's Unique + Numina's Heal gives a grand total of 48.96%, counting the increase to base power, which would be better than Numina's Unique + Regen Tissue Unique. For the best regeneration out of 3 slots, add the Regen Tissue on top of that.
How do you do that when Health is single-slotted?
The OP asked what to single-slot in Health. -
What OS are you using?
What path is the game installed to?
Did you install the game with elevated privileges if using Vista or 7?
Are you running the game with elevated privileges if using Vista or 7?
Were the costume files created on a different computer and copied to the computer you are using now?
Was this installation a clean install or a shortened install using one of the methods that aborts the installation and copies files from a different computer?
Are the costume files or the costume folder marked as Read Only?
Are the costume files or the costume folder marked as Hidden?
As a side note to that, I just loaded a costume file I've had since they introduced the costume files. All of my files are listed. -
You may want to look at the Beta forums. The question may be answered there already from when people were testing them.
-
Serious question time. In order to make a constructive reply to your previous posts, I need more information on which to base a response.
Where is the "Buy now" option that you clicked on?
If it is on the City of Heroes website, what exact page of the website was it? You can copy and paste the address here.
If it is on the NCSoft site, what exact page of the website was it? You can copy and paste the address here.
If it is a different website that has this, the address for that page would be most helpful. You can copy and paste the address here.
If it is in the Launcher, are you running the Windows client or the Mac client?
If it is in the game, which screen is the Buy now option on? Is it in the Paragon Market window? Is it in the Paragon Rewards window (haven't looked at it on my non-VIP account in a while, so don't know if there is one)? Is it on the Character Select screen (haven't paid attention to what is on that screen other than the character I log in, do don't know if there is one)?
Without knowing where you are seeing the "Buy now" option, I'd only be making educated guesses (as the others did based on too little information given in your first two posts).
EDIT: Scooped by taking too long to type this while eating lunch. Still, a valid question.
