Ncsoft launcher not connecting to nc server

Can you tell us exactly what happens? Is there an error message? Does it just hang indefinitely? How long have you waited?
I have the launcher installed. when i go to open it i get an error message that says
Unable to contact launcher update server
there is either a problem with your internet connection or the update server is currently down you may retry or skip the update. if i hit retry i get the same message if i hit skip the launcher opens but instead of the splash page i get currently unavailable check your network connections and try again.

If so, you may need to manually allow the NCSoft Launcher's EXE file access to the internet.

when i click on your link i get a message saying firefox can't find the google server but when i type google into my address bar i can go right there. I am very confused

Ok i added the ncsoft launcher to my exempt list and still nothing. i turned off norton and still nothing. i tried to adjust my settings on my windows fire wall but i got an error message there. it says windows firewall can't change some of your settings error code 0x80070424. any ideas?

Yes, it looks as if there was a launcher update which can cause troubles with some firewalls due to the way to bootstraps itself for the patch.
Worse case, uninstall the launcher (not the game) and reinstall it.

Is that just Norton AV or the whole of Symantec's security suite?
If you have the firewall in the security suite running then disable windows defender. Running two software firewalls on the same PC is usually a bad idea.
You may also need to check your router's logs incase the NAT translation there is blocking.

(I'm on XP still, so that UAC garbage isn't an issue)

Hopefully this is norton related, that said there have been some malware related issues similar to this (kind of a stretch, but your google response is close), but if you're upto date on XP patches then you should be past those issues.

Most of what I've seen also was related to Windows 7 or Windows Vista and I remember from your first post in the other thread that you said you are running Windows XP.
In any event, the problems you are having with the Windows Firewall indicate a larger system issue that is likely what is causing your problems. Once you resolve those problems, you should be able to connect.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Thanks for all the help guys. After trying everything i could i decided to go with the "nuclear option" and reformat my hard drive. That worked for me as the game is now installing.

When ever i open the ncsoft launcher it isn't connecting to the nc server. I know i am connected to the internet because i am posting here. I have tried running as admin i have even tried uninnstalling and reinstalling. Any help would be appreciated
