  1. The character in gold on the front cover of the box is Emperor Cole (aka Tyrant). His costume, like most signature characters costumes, is not available for players to use.

The powersets that come with the Going Rogue Complete Collection are Kinetic Melee, Electric Control, Demon Summoning and Dual Pistols.

Note that if you start a MasterMind or Controller and drop to Premium status you will lose access to those AT's unless you have purchased the AT unlock for that set or have a high enough Paragon Reward tier to access them.

Snow Globe's list in his post above tells you all of what comes with GR and what you will lose access to without the appropriate purchasable unlocks or Reward Tiers.

Time Manipulation was not part of GR. It was released with Freedom and is a free for VIP powerset. If you revert to Premium status you will not have access to any characters created with Time Manipulation until you purchase the powerset as a Premium. Also, if the character is a MasterMind or a Controller you will need to either purchase that AT license in the market or be of a high enough Paragon Reward tier to have opened that AT.
  2. It has NOT been this way since the migration to the vBulletin forums.

The forums used to actually Remember my username. Now they do not.

The forums used to actually let me stay logged in no matter how long I'd had the browser open. Now they do not.

The Remember Me box does nothing.

There are cookies that are supposed to expire after 8 hours and make me log in again. They expire if I close my browser so that I have to log in again anyway. It doesn't matter what version of Firefox or IE I'm using, the behavior is the same.

There are times I am logged out randomly when going from one page to another using the forum navigation links (I never use the Back button on the forums). It sometimes logs me out in the midst of making a post.

The crew in Seattle has caused more forum problems than they've fixed in my opinion.

None of the other forums I use that run on vBulletin have these problems. I'm still logged in to one of those forums from when I first logged in over a year ago. I might make a post on that forum once a month, if then, and yet I stay logged in just navigating the site.

  4. And, my room is now booked for Friday and Saturday nights.

For those of you contacting the hotel for rooms, tell them it is for the City of Heroes Player Summit for the group rate. The desk clerk was having trouble determining the group code for that rate until I mentioned City of Heroes. Paragon Studios and NCSoft were not found when she was looking for the rate.

It looks like it is the same discount we got in November of the Garden Room (1 bed) being $99/night (regularly $109) and the Deluxe Room (1 or 2 beds) being $109/night (regularly $119).

    See you there.
  5. I haven't spoken to anyone else about meal plans yet, aside from my going to Schaub's for lunch of Friday for a Fred's Steak sandwich.

Given the time limitation for lunch on Saturday, I'll probably try to find something much closer to the hotel instead of making that long drive and fighting traffic (including looking for a parking spot).

I'm considering Holder's Country Inn for Breakfast, but I'm waiting to hear from Red-Gren and others about Saturday breakfast plans.

Even if I don't get to Holder's on Saturday, I'll get there Sunday. I'm not leaving until Sunday evening so I could even make a trip into San Francisco on Sunday for lunch. I know that there are a few good places to eat at Pier 39, and I've gotten a hankering for a bucket of donuts.

EDIT: Of course, since Zwiggleroom has mentioned the possibility of something on Friday night, it's keeping my Friday evening plans up in the air a bit until we get word on what he's planning.
  6. When returning to a game that has had changes made, especially after a long absence, it's often a good idea to familiarize yourself with what has changed.

From the CoH website, I'd recommend the Freedom: Player Choices page, particularly the Side-by-Side Comparison tab.

From the ParagonWiki site, I'd recommend the Paragon Rewards Program page and the Issue page. From the Issue page there are links to each Issue that has been released so that you can start reading about what changes were made to the game since you left. Since it also gives the release dates, it's easy to tell what has come out since you've been away.

As a Premium player you do not have access to in-game support as you've already seen. You do however still have support options available through the City of Heroes Support site. If you haven't created a Support account yet then you will need to create one before being able to get help. The Support account is not the same as your Master account or your Game account, although it can use the same username and password when you create it, assuming that someone else hasn't created a Support account with that username already.

Some of the items you mentioned are available to Premium players by purchasing a License, such as the MasterMind license you purchaed. The Inventions license costs $2.00/month and there are other licenses available for purchase as well although I'm not as familiar with most of them.

None that I can recall either.

    I know that I didn't see a pre-release download with Issue 21.

Rickey Henderson won out in the end since he is ocnsidered one of the greatest lead-off hitters of all time as well as one of the greatest base-runners of all time. His 4 stints with the A's will have him forever in green and yellow in my memory.

Besides, I'm the one that is solo only. You are willing to team.
  11. I had an issue last night where I sent a petition. I then closed my chat tabs other than those that had only Global channels in them.

Before logging out for the night I re-opened those chat tabs and saw that a GM had sent a tell about it and then asked a question in Local. After that, there was a comment by the GM that said something like they would check the logs and take action if warranted.

Since all of the information was in the original petition and nothing I could have said would have changed or added to that information, I didn't feel bad about closing those chat tabs.

I had already seen comments in a global channel that let me know it had been dealt with, so my lack of response didn't hinder them from taking action.

I could just as easily have left my chat tabs open and not responded to the GM and things would have happened the same and I'd have not felt any differently.
  12. Follow the instructions in the [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread that is stickied in this forum section. You don't need all of it for now but just follow the parts about how to download, run and post a CoH Helper report.

I haven't spoken to Red_Gren yet, but I assume he'll likely be looking at arranging something for Friday evening. It's traditionally been a Justice Server dinner, but we've always welcomed all players, Devs and OCR members.

Once he starts working on it I'm sure he'll start a thread and link to it from one of the official threads.

I do know that I'll be having a Fred's Steak sandwich for lunch Friday and if you are there you are welcome to join me. I'm sure others will be there as well. Schaub's Meat, Fish & Poultry at the Stanford Shopping Center.
  14. Welcome Jessie.

I won't insult you by suggesting an avatar of someone that never played for the A's.

I will offer up this image however.

I would agree the devs did a pretty good job with the F2P offering, this is the one major error I see. I know people it has stopped coming back to the game, and people who have only come back because of the error a while back where some spurious vet months were awarded and not removed, they would not have come back without IOs or paid for licenses. At least one has since realised how much he likes this game and resubbed.

My worry is that as somebody who plays outside of US peak on Victory, the server population is fairly critical. We can't afford to lose any potential players as it's already really difficult at times to form TFs at lower than 50 and i-trials that need more than 10 people. Premiums won't help the i-trial situation unless they resub, but will help the TFs, meaning I won't log off as I do some evenings when nothing's happening and I might be around when somebody tries to organise an i-trial.
    <--- Has a programming degree.

Anytime I make comments about the code they are based on what we've been told about the code in the past, some things we've been told in the past, and things I've observed in the past.

From some things we've been told, the code is not as simple as people often think. What seems to be something that should be simple to implement from our perspective (our perspective meaning people that understand programming fairly well, not the Average Joe without any programming knowledge) is often not a simple thing or even possible in this code without huge amounts of work.

Until this morning I had no intentions of even attending the Pummit because of the bookend trips mentioned above, but when I realized I could do it in such a short span of time and for relatively little money, I figured what the heck. Also because I'm convinced that the one weekend this fall that I've already made plans for is whe the fall Pummit will take place; if they even have one.
    Understandable.
  17. Nylonus, those are the hours of operation for the Trader Vic's Restaurant and Bar.

There is also Dinah's Poolside Grill Restaurant where breakfast and lunch are served from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM every day.

That is one of several reasons I fly in early morning on Friday and don't leave until as late as I can on Sunday.

To get a flight from Texas I'd be lucky to get a flight that arrived before the Pummit starts. Since Registration opens at 8:30 (I think that is what I read on the BPT site after booking) I prefer not being rushed.

Of course, not everyone has the ability to take off for Friday or rent a hotel room for multiple nights. Since this is my only vacation each year, I splurge a bit. I'm just wondering what I'll do for a vacation if this ends up being my last trip to a CoH event.
  19. mousedroid, I'd recommend looking at prices on Hotwire for rental cars. I've gotten some pretty good deals there the last few trips to California I've made.

I have a Full Size car for around $17.95/day this trip. None of the other travel sites or car rental sites gave me anywhere near that good of a price. I couldn't even get an Economy car for that rate from them.

Flying into SFO at that time is going to cut you pretty close on time to be able to get your luggage from bag check (if you have any), go through the rental counter to get your car and get to the site to get your registration done (picking up your badge and swag) and get to the Opening Ceremonies on time.

Luckily, it isn't football season so there are no football games to have to navigate traffic. The Dinah's Garden Hotel site should have driving instructions for coming from SFO.

EDIT: Looking at Hotwire, you can get better rates than what I got depending on when you book. Their prices fluctuate so sometimes it's best to check a few times. Right now I'm seeing prices for a Full Size car for 12.95/day all the way down to 7.95/day for an Economy car. That was priced for SFO going from 9:00 AM to 12:30 AM Sunday morning (yes, you'll need to be at the airport before then to turn it in and go through security). I just had to give an end time for returning the car and that time was in my memory. Once you book it you will see which rental agency it is. Hotwire rates like that give you the Big 6 Rental companies. Hertz, Avis, Alamo, Budget, Enterprise and National are the Big 6. You aren't getting a rental from a fly-by-night outfit or some two-bit local company. These are the big national chains at cheap rates. You also have to factor in some additional fees for this, so the final price for the full size comes to 41.99/day. Always check the final rate for comparison. For example, the same Full Size car from Enterprise is nearly 50/day before the fees are added.

    Premium IO's?

Procs and special IOs don't work
    Enhancement bonuses reduced by 25%

would accomplish that. Many premiums are pretty casual even if they weren't before, and having to spend a couple of hours maybe more just sorting out their toons to make them playable (if they had 2 IOd builds) is more than they want to do.
People keep trying to make this argument that "they should just change how IO's act on non-VIP accounts" as if that were a simple proposition.

I'm not sure that they have the capability to do this with the code they are working with. You are asking for the same item to behave in two extremely different ways under different circumstances. SCR definitely applies here.

Having them be "off" or "on" based on Subscription status was likely an easier way to code things than trying to figure out how to turn off the the set bonuses and reduce the value of the enhancement and disallow procs and ... well, you see where that is going. That's a rather comprehensive set of rules to try to implement.

If they did try to put something like this in the code, it would likely create a nightmare for making sure it didn't cause problems in other parts of the code. We've seen enough instances of them changing something and it affecting something seemingly unrelated or worse, things that on the internal test servers and beta server worked fine but when put on the Live environment had some really unexpected side effects due to population size or other factors.

I'll go back to what I said previously upthread. The intent of the Hyybrid model was to provide value to their subscribers but at the same time to offer incentives to non-subscribers to either subscribe or make purchases in the Paragon Market. They could have made IO use exclusive to subscribers or only available to subscribers and a specific Reward Tier with no license purchase available.

They had the same decisions to make about several parts of the game that some people consider the "important" parts. What is important for one is not important for someone else. I know of long-time subscribers that haven't gotten interested in the IO system, simply because HO's and SO's worked for them and they had fun playing their characters. I know of long-time subscribers that had no interest in the AE offerings, the incarnate system, the new costume options, new powersets, or any number of other subsystems of the game. They all have different items that are important to them, but not all things in the game do they consider important.

It's a balancing act and I think the Devs (and marketing) did a pretty good job in trying to give a good play experience for free with incentives to either subscribe or purchase items from the Paragon Market.
  21. Ossuary, I'll leave the questions about differences for your wife's shirt and meal options to someone with experience in that. There are ways to do that, I'm just not sure what they are (it may involve emails to the cohcommunity@paragonstudios.com email address or something similar).

As for the rooms, the rates we got for the first Freedom Player Summit was $10 off of the normal rate. The Garden Rooms were $99/night and the Deluxe Rooms (1 or 2 beds) were $109/night. I would expect that the rates would be the same this time. You can call Dinah's Garden on their 800 number and they can confirm it for you.

And while Captain-Electric gave excellent of examples of disclaimers and/or statements that could be made by the OCR team or the Developers, that would do nothing to stem the tide of rage posts.

People that continually whine about certain items are not detered from their whining by logical statements of fact, developer statements of functionality, or any other reasonable response.

We've been seeing it for nearly 8 years on the Live forums, and could actually count farther back than that if you want to go back to the original Beta forums or even to the original original CoH forums while the game was still only in development.

    or

  25. Benchpresser, I highly doubt they will be sold out of tickets by next week.

I'd go so far as to say I'd be amazed and flabbergasted if they were sold out by next week. (This doesn't mean that the OCR team or anyone else should go in and lower the number of tickets temporarily just to put me in that state.)

I do wish they had given us the event code for the hotel booking rather than us having to call to do it. Dinah's Garden has a nice booking system on their website that takes group rate codes into account as long as you know the correct code. None I tried today were valid.

As far as emailing the information for our badges, I'm curious as to whether or not they've gotten their mail server to play nice with Yahoo mail yet, or if I'll need to try to remember the password on the Gmail account I set up last time to mail that info.
