Quote:So. Your idea to get some attention to the problem is to intentionally and repeatedly break the forum rules? This increased for me starting last week. I was only ever getting hit by it once in a while, maybe once a week. Now, I've no idea which threads have new posts since it logs me out every minute and a half.
And Dumpleberry, no, we cannot confine posts to a single thread because its pretty clear it's being ignored. Let's see how much it's ignored when we can get 50 or so active threads going at once.
I don't think that's the kind of attention you really want. -
Quote:Why in the world would you make such an assumption? We've been told over and over that if you go to Premium you don't lose anything, it just may not be accessible to you while you are Premium. We've also been told that everything you have will still be there for you to access if you should return to VIP.I have to leave for 2 months because of other duties/(surgery) that require my attention and therefore I have to go premium...Im assuming since I bought absolutely all of my purchases retail or through the game store.
But since I wont be home, I wont have the ability to sign on...which I also assume means that the things I already have will be stripped...ripped, and broken when I try and sub again.
Which means Im losing my appeal
It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp. -

I'm not sure what the criteria are for the game putting up that message, but it appears to be the date of the drivers in relation to the current date.
For example, if the drivers are dated one month ago, it doesn't put the message up. If the drivers are dated six months ago, it puts up the message. I'm not sure exactly how many months are involved in the trigger, but I think it's around four months.
Your drivers may indeed be the most current available for your video card, but the date may be outside of the trigger range the game uses. -
The "Recommended Requirements" and even "Minimum System Requirements" as far as video cards go is rather laughable to most people that have any technical knowledge at all as it relates to this game.
Yes, technically the game does run on the listed hardware, but not at anything that could be considered acceptable. I'd put the video cards listed in "Recommended Requirements" in the "Minimum System Requirements" instead.
Even the "Recommended Requirements for Ultra Mode" are a bit low when you look at the video card. Similarly, I'd put the video cards listed in the "Recommended Requirements for Ultra Mode" in the "Recommended Requirements" section instead. -

Yes, this is definitely a video issue, mostly due to the facts that this onboard video chipset wasn't designed for gaming and was outdated by the time Vista was released.
For that old of a video chipset, I generally recommend staying with an older driver such as the 197.45 driver. Newer drivers have made quite a few improvements for newer cards, but for older cards ... not so much. You can download the 197.45 drivers using this link. Even going back to an older driver may not fully correct all of the issues you are seeing since that chipset is such a low end chipset.
Quote:Honestly, that video chipset will never run the game at anything but the basic settings. Sure, you can crank the settings higher, but it will cause performance issues.im also unable to run my game above below normal does anyone have any ideas to make it go too normal or high priority?
Depending on your budget you may want to look into upgrading your video card (although that may also require you to upgrade your power supply) or simply upgrade your computer. I can find limited information on the specs for the system, but did find that it has a PCI-E x16 slot which will make it easier to find a video card that fits the slots you have. However, most newer video cards require much more power than onboard chipsets do so you may have to upgrade the power supply in order to upgrade to an actual video card instead of the onboard video chipset. -
No need for messing with the Menus. On the laptop, type /wdwsave to save your options. Create a macro by typing /macro wdw wdwload
This will create a macro button labeled wdw that you can click to quickly load the laptop settings.
Do the same on the desktop so that you can have a macro on the desktop as well. Much faster than going through the menus
I don't think there is a way to make it autoload a window settings file on launch, but I could be wrong. -
Quote:The first two can't have been rushed as they were part of the original design we were told about for Going Rogue. We were told about those first two things almost a year before GR launched. The fact that we only got 20 levels and then a lame plot device to send us to old content?
Only a few new power sets.
No Praetorian TFs. No ability to make Praetorian SGs.
As for the TF's and SG's, I "think" they were never planned for Praetoria as it didn't fit the design concept they had. That's guesswork on my part, but it's based off of conversations I had with different members of the Dev team when GR was introduced to us at HeroCon, on the forums after that, during Beta, and even after launch. -
How to fix redside:
Make an appointment with your local vet or a mobile vet.

This sounds very much like a video driver issue but it's rather difficult to tell with no technical information to go on.
Please follow the instructions in Hyperstrike's stickied [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread and post the results of CoH Helper and HiJackThis here as it instructs. If you are running Vista or 7, be sure to right-click on CoH Helper and select Run as Administrator. -
There are generally two causes for this error.
The first is a proxy setting, which you don't think you are using.
The second is usually a firewall setting, although it could be a setting in any device between you and your internet connection (I'll explain that in a sidenote at the end). I'm not overly familiar with Bitdefender Internet Security and how it's configured, but I'm fairly sure it has a Firewall built in. Make sure that you allow all of the traffic used by the game and the updater and launcher. A fairly simple way to test this would be to temporarily turn off the firewall and try to have it install Beta again. If it goes fine, you'll know it's a firewall setting.
If not, it's very possibly a proxy setting somewhere.
As a side note to all of this, I work as a Tech in a school district. I was doing some work one evening in the office and thought I'd download Beta on my laptop. I was getting the same error messages and all I could find were references to WSUS servers not updating, which really wasn't helping except that they all pointed to Firewall's and/or Proxy settings.
I knew it wasn't a proxy setting and the Windows Firewall was set to OFF since I was at my office. Then it hit me that it could be related to our Internet Content Filter used to block inappropriate websites here at school. Since the guy that configures it wasn't around, I couldn't get him to watch the traffic from that laptop's IP and see what rule was blocking it (if any) but I was fairly certain that this was the problem since in some ways the Internet Content Filter works similarly to a Firewall.
I knew a quick way to test it was to set the IP address on the laptop temporarily to an IP address that is unfiltered and see if it allowed it. I was able to successfully install Beta on my laptop using this IP, so I let it download and launch and then changed the IP back to a DHCP address. I don't play from the office, but if I'm putting in long hours I'll occaisionally bring the laptop and let it update from there since it's a much faster connection. -
Rudolf Hess may be why you were confused.

Quote:Two things stand out and one (repeated throughout the CoH Helper output) doesn't let us see actual settings.Video Device Name: ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
Manufacturer / Chip: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. / ATI display adapter (0x6899)
Video Memory: 2793 MB
Driver Version: 8.881.0.0
Driver Date: 7/28/2011 5:39:14 PM
Driver Language: English
Registry Information for Current User
Resolution: 12800x10240
3D Resolution: 12800x10240 (Not using renderscale)
Anti-aliasing: Unknown (2147483647)
First, the video card driver. Several people have reported problems with the recent ATI drivers. Most have had to go back to 11.4, 11.3 or earlier drivers in order to get rid of the problems. There are several threads in this forum section about the ATI driver issues since May.
Second, the Resolution that is being reported is ... well ... wrong.
The repeated item is all of the settings that report as Unknown (2147483647) instead of reporting the actual setting. That could relate to the second problem above, and if I remember right, that showing up in the CoH Helper output is generally due to not right-clicking CoH Helper and selecting Run as Administrator.
Without being able to see what the settings actually are configured for, it's difficult to tell what my be causing other problems. -
I remember when the History plaques were put in and roaming the Test server with several other players searching for all of the plaques in all of the zones so we could compile lists.
Someone made a simple overlay file that painted a bright yellow and red bullseye on the plaques, making it easier for us to find and catalog them. It was especially useful in Boomtown with all the rubble and in the old Faultline for finding the ones buried in the bottom of the crevasses. It was so-so in Dark Astoria due to the fog, but it still helped. -

So, of course, I tell the story and everyone breaks out laughing.
Good one, Zwill. You got me.
It took someone pointing it out for me to find that my I had a Yellow Title that said "Can't Spell " followed by his name. All this was in response to a late night post I made when I was too tired to look at the correct spelling for his forum name.
I've since refused to spell his name correctly on the forums or in game. I did actually spell his name correctly in a PM sent to multiple people listing who all it was sent to. I knew that some of them possibly didn't know the joke, so would have been confused.
Still, this is another good one. Zwellingderheadovermuch keeps proving his sense of humor even under adverse conditions.
Kudos. -
Quote:That's what you got out of my joking with Bill and poking a few dead-horses?
Isn't it strange that you seem incapable of seeing someone else's point of view?
I have a few characters on other servers besides Justice. They don't get played. When Justice is down, as it is now, I generally find other things to do. If I really want to play badly enough, I do have options on those other servers.
The last time I really wanted to play that badly? Hasn't happened yet. So I understand wanting to play your normal characters with your normal friends. I also understand that there are options.
In the meantime, I can poke good-natured fun at Bill's posts and be pretty confident that he knows it's my normal sarcasm at work filling the downtime. There are several other forum regulars I'd feel comfortable goofing around in the same way with and be fairly sure they know it's all just normal TJ sarcasm. -

Quote:That's just crazy talk. What really keeps you from branching out JUST for stuff like that? Especially now when inf, items, etc. can be emailed to yourself?
Get your friends, form a branch SG somewhere, screw around with it once in a while - then if something happens on Freedom, you have somewhere to fall back to. Start a superteam.
Give yourself options.
Must be due to that high post count.
Or you being a Dev Sycophant.
Bah, more crazy talk. -

Quote:Bah, you whippersnappers don't know how good you had it. I remember having to get on the tram, get off in the next zone, run to the tram entrance door, get on the tram, get off in the next zone, rinse, repeat until you got to the zone you needed. This "choosing" a stop on the Yellow Line or "choosing" a stop on the Green Line is silly."When I was a new player you couldn't choose were to go on the tram you had to take the right color line"
Oh, and no one told you that you had to run to another door, you got off the tram and clicked the doors you were at and wondered why they wouldn't open. -

* Get some Vets with twisted senses of humor together to organize a Snipe Hunting Zone Event. Spread out over Atlas Park and start talking in Broadcast about the event. Say the Snipe is loose in Atlas Park... it's not a strong creature and can be defeated by just six hits regardless of the power or level of the character hitting it. The trick is that it teleports the instant it takes a hit and can reappear anywhere in Atlas. So... the naughty Vets spread out and begin yelling things like "First hit! I got first hit on it!", "I see it... at my location and headed East FAST!", "It's on top of the Atlas Statue! Hurry!" and so on. Sprinkled liberally with "The one who delivers the last blow gets a badge, reward merits and enough xp to raise a first level character to 10th!" comments. See how many Newbs you can get to "play". -
