Make sure your drivers are up to date for your Intel Integrated Graphics X4500.

There are some FSAA+AO artifacts which happen regardless video card/drivers. These are due to limitations of the Cg shader programming language regarding multisampled (a.k.a. anti-aliased) buffers.
But, there are a lot more FSAA+AO artifacts which happen specifically with ATI drivers.
This appears to be another artifact with FSAA, specifically with DoF enabled. I don't know if this one is due to the first limitation mentioned above or due to the problem in the ATI drivers. -
I have a hunch that this is the same issue with ATI drivers as AA + AO, just without AO enabled and with DoF instead, if that makes sense to you.

Could you post some screenshots what you are seeing?

If you are having DirectX problems, have you updated DirectX? This is separate from the video card drivers.

If your DirectX is up-to-date, could you post the output from dxdiag? -
Also note that the FSAA (Full Screen Anti-aliasing) option was moved out of the advanced graphics settings section. So, you have to set it manually now instead of having it automatically set for you based on your graphics presets. So, if you have not changed it since I17 came it, it is probably not enabled.

Sorry. Didn't realize you were using C#. Might take a look at this then:
The Open Toolkit is an advanced, low-level C# library that wraps OpenGL, OpenCL and OpenAL.

Quote:What video card and drivers are you using? I would definitely recommend updating to the latest drivers from either NVidia or ATI or Intel's website.so...
no matter what i do, i still can't view characters or maps. when i log in, i can access all my different characters, but the characters themselves won't load. also, when i load onto the server, neither the characters nor the map will load. however, i can see the chat log, auras, and things of that nature.
so far i've tried several things:
messed around with in game graphics
tried it on safe mode several times
uninstalled then reinstalled both the game and the updater
verify all the files every time i try to log on
any advice on what i should do? it would be greatly appreciated. i'm at the end of my rope here. -
Updating Direct X won't help CoH (but shouldn't hurt).
But, definitely update your video card drivers from drivers obtained from NVidia's website. -
GPU and I are not QA. We don't get paid to help out in the forums. Maybe that does make us rogue red-names..

Quote:When he tried to update the game it said he didnt have enough memory to do it. I right clicked on the c drive and went to propeties. The pie chart that shows the free and used space shows its all full. It shouldn't be at all. He's running xp.
So, the game is telling you the hard drive is full and the properties on the C: drive also show that the drive is full?
What are the "Used space", "Free space" and "Capacity" values shown in the properties of the C: drive (don't need the exact bytes, just the MB or GB value will be fine)? -

DarkInvado, are you connected via wifi or wired network to your DSL/Cable modem?
-
It would be great if this tool could get the GL extensions string via glGetString(GL_EXTENSIONS) and have that in the output text.

Thanks Texas Justice.
DarkGob, when this happens, have you tried playing with the graphics settings? Or is there a specific location where this tends to happen? -
If you are running XP, you can right click on your "My Computer" icon and select properties. It should say something like Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3. If it says something about 64-bit, then you are running a 64-bit operating system. If not, then assume 32-bit.
I'm not familiar with Vista or Windows 7, but it should be a similar way to get the system information. -
Quote:My interest in your old drivers is because it is difficult to endorse your suggestion to fix/work around a problem which may not exist with the latest drivers. If you choose to run with older drivers, that is your decision. But, when you see problems, especially graphics related problems, our first response will always be to recommend that you update your drivers.Upgrading my drivers any further breaks DirectX functionality on my card. This wouldn't affect CoH, I know, but most of my games do use DirectX.
AFAIK, this is a somewhat-known compatibility flaw with nVidia's drivers that I believe stems from using an AGP card.
NVIDIA has had a great track record of fixing problems in their drivers and supporting older hardware. If you have issues with their drivers, I would suggest you let them know.

I would feel more comfortable if you would edit your original post and make it clear that you are running with older drivers and that this problem may or may not exist with the latest drivers. -
My guess would be the Integrated/Motherboard selection. But I'm not 100% sure of that. But I believe the 3100 is an integrated GPU.

What kind of issues are you having with the 197.45 drivers? The 175.19 drivers are nearly two years old and your issue may be resolved with the latest drivers.

Quote:Regarding laptop manufacturers who don't allow the normal Catalyst drivers to install on their laptops, I've had luck with the Mobility Modder tool. This is not an official endorsement by NCsoft/Paragon Studios. Use at your own risk!Kayla, follow the instructions in the support post in this link except where it says ATI HotKey Poller change it to AMD External Events Utility.
Disabling that should alleviate some of your problems.
Unfortunately, most laptop manufacturers are really bad about updating their drivers, especially video drivers. Some even do some tweaks to keep the official ATI drivers from being installed but you can try download the newest drivers from http://www.ati.com and select Graphics in the Component Category box, select your version of Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit, whichever you have) in the Operating System box, Mobility Radeon in the Product Line box, and Mobility Radeon HD 3xxx Series in the Product Model box. That will take you to a page where you can download the 10.4 drivers and hopefully they'll be able to install. If they won't install due to Toshiba tweaks to the system, let us know. Use the instructions here to uninstall the old drivers and install the new ones.
There is a way to modify the files so that they'll install, but it's quite a bit more technically involved and we can handle it easier in PM's so as not to clog up the thread. -
What video card and drivers are you running with?
-
Using the game's Safe Mode (check box at user agreement screen) is a great suggestion. If that fails to resolve your problem and it appears you have the latest drivers, you may try re-installing the drivers by uninstalling them first and then use some tool to make sure the drivers are properly removed (google "nvidia driver cleaner") and then re-install the 197.45 drivers.

Quote:Go here:I have an ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics and I've been having input delay problems. Do I need a better graphics card or do I just need to update it? And how do I go about updating my graphics card?
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
Select your OS in the first column.
Make sure that you choose "Integrated/Motherboard" in the middle column (not Radeon)
Select Radeon 3100 Series in the third column.
Click GO!
Click the Download button and run the file which is downloaded. -
Please check one of the other threads which already discusses this problem.
