nothing ruins a good idea like actually doing it :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nothing ruins a good idea like tossing out half of what made it good, and then feasting on rainbow & puppy sandwiches. Blood feuds over the flavour of puppies start up, and someone always asks for bacon.

When the game feels like a job, and a boring job at that, it's grind to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree. And this game is a grind for me up until at least around level 25 on any given character.
  3. I miss the days before the game came out. The forums seemed to be a friendlier place. I got into fewer arguments and the days were filled with hope, optimism, puppies, and rainbows.

    From these two:

I didn't read anywhere that cut paste wasn't allowed, just not very original IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah. Personally, I have no problem with it in the spirit of the competition, but the end result was that the nice character art didn't blend well with the background which is why I ultimately chose Projectionist's. A little work in photoshop could fix that problem up.

    I vote Alex..

How does Tacky_tricky get votes for just a cut and paste of a border?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Where did he cut and paste the border from? Not the linked original, as the border and background for each is different. For instance, Tricky's has trees in the corners whereas the original has butterflies. Even the crescent design has a different pattern on it.

It's a really well constructed piece, but the character art looks too sharp. It doesn't match up well with the background as far as texture goes. Perhaps that's what gives it the sense of being a copy/paste job.

Happy anniversary of the day your mother forcibly ejected you from her womb! ™

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's quite an assumption. Maybe, like me, he was never "born" but instead ripped out of his mother's uterus while she was high on pain killers cause the doc said "NO" to letting him out the natural way?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I always assumed he was grown in the dark moist corner of a disused shower stall, subsisting upon the dismal dried remnants of soap scum and cleaning spray.
  7. I'd remove at least the inability to jump from Rooted. Ideally, I'd like it to be useable in conjunction with all travel powers even if they were somewhat hampered.

As for Granite, I'd like to see it augment the character's appearance rather than replace it. I'd like to see *it* work with all travel powers as well, though it should hamper their effectiveness perhaps with jump/speed caps. And I think it should perhaps be useable with other armors.

Also, I think the damage penalty is ridiculous. The recharge penalty is fine, but it fits more to have a damage bonus than a penalty.

and guy, if you want to come back, the best advice is, give it a shot for a month.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Even pessimistic me would agree with this advice. There are far worse things to blow $15 on.
  9. It's not a hard choice for me at all. Two of the entries clearly stood out above the rest, and of those two Projectionist's version of Nighthawks captured the feel of the original best IMO.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Oh, and ignore the cranky posters. The devs made a couple of small PR slip-ups and the cranky posters treat it like the second coming of the Third Reich.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pshaw. My crankiness is far more longstanding and genuine than that. And as regards this thread, said crankiness only reflects personal observance of the current gaming environment without assuming that said observance is a universal fact. And I made no allusions to any Dev PR situations.
  11. I'm not sure I'd say now is a good time to return. But I thrive on blind invites to PuGs in this game, and in my experience those have been rather lacking since AE came along unless I just happen to be playing the right AT. I've had poor luck with low level controllers, blasters, and tanks, but a recently created Defender shot up to level 33 in what is record time for me.

Also, every zone other than Atlas Park that I've been in seems much emptier these days as everyone congregates in Atlas to do AE missions.

On the other hand, the mission creator is almost a neat tool to play with.
  12. Does the whole computer crash or just City of Heroes?

Any possibility for some type of acrobatic type of movement as a new movement power?

Kind of like what Sabertooth does when he runs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Sabertooth is acrobatic?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think he's looking for something more like a feral pouncy run like Sabretooth kept doing in that terrible Origins movie.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
What if, when you reached the Freak HQ, you could choose whether to explore it in the open world or as an instance? Then everyone could be happy (except the people who want to force other people to play their way, anyway).

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I recall, Conan had a few places like that.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
You see in my happy world, with my happy heroes we like it when things look 3D. We also apreciate it when a game reflects our vision of how things should be. Instead of someone elses Vision messin with things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Indeed. And this game doesn't reflect my vision of how things should be. Someone else's vision is mucking with things and in a far deeper manner than just aesthetics.

That'be cool. If they had the option I'd turn it on. It'd beat the current blandness.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It seems to me your eyeballs have a sour glaze over them. Maybe some direct sunlight can fix it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Vision isn't the problem. I just happen to like my comic book superheroes to look like comic book superheroes. For my superhero tastes, this game is mundane in many ways. But I realise that a stylistic approach freaks out the squares.

  18. I like big open world events from time to time. And I used to enjoy teaming against Giant Monsters in CoX. Lusca was one of my favourites. But it's just not worth the pain any more.
  19. [ QUOTE ]

Except they say in the blurb, yanno..

    [ QUOTE ]

For the first time, Hero characters can become Villains and vice versa, enabling Heroes to cross over to the Rogue Isles™ and Villains to experience Paragon City™.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

And as I believe I said I have a feeling they will be experiencing Mirrorverse versions of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles rather than the regular areas. Thus the blurb would be true, from a certain point of view.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I already play all the ATs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have played them, but I don't like playing in the Rogue Isles.

I have a feeling, though, that switching sides will amount to switching over solely in the mirror universe rther than, say, having a Stalker running around in normal Paragon City with the general hro populace.

    Maintenance

Early? Isn't 8AM ET the regular time? Or is it 9AM? It used to switch for me, and then the idiotic powers that be forced us to start moronically switching our clocks twice a year.

It's not up to us as the gamers to decide what is or is not an exploit. It's up to the developers. It's their game, and they get to decide such things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kinda makes one long for the days when you bought a computer game and then you'd play it how you decided to without having to worry about Devs force-feeding you patches to screw up your gaming experience.

So it is. I was looking at/remembering the wrong number in Mids. Hrm, now I'll have to find a place for it.
