Also Sprach Zarathustra plays as the colossal FREEM! descends upon the city, crushing all beneath its Cyclopean sans-serif might.

Could be. This thread isn't really about Granite Armor though. It's about metallic options for the other powers in the set to go alongside the crystal and lava options.
-
I was hoping this was a suggestion for a blaster set whereupon you fired squishy demons at enemies from your garishly-coloured plastic hellcannon.
-
I'd like Stone Melee for Scrappers.

Quote:That could just as easily be a symptom of AE custom critter changes. I certainly haven't noticed Carnies getting tougher in the real game.I know for a provable fact that the standard factions are getting far tougher, because I designed a custom AE faction to fight and handily defeat Carnies. A few months ago, it was a slaughter. Now, the Carnies crush them.
Same with Banished Pantheon, for that matter. -
Blame McBoo for pointing me here.

Turning into a giant Rock Monster can be pretty neat, but it seems pretty clear to me that opening the power up to customisation is more broadly beneficial. And as noted, there is a way to increase your character's size without the power replacing your character should someone really desire to have that effect.

Kumquats! Now I'll have to take a break for lunch or something.
-
Focussed Accuracy offers a stepping stone to Physical Perfection that I can six-slot with Gaussian for a decent Defense bonus. That's one of the reasons I usually take it over CP.
-
Let us replace the Granite graphic! No, wait, this isn't one of those threads.
What I'd like to see, especially now given Ultra Mode, is an option for Stone Armor with metallic lustre. As one sometimes finds in raw nickel, copper, and gold, for instance. Or in minerals such as pyrite. -
Marcian is all worried about being disliked while I get worried when my green goes too high, especially when the positive rep is accompanied by genuine positive comments. I'm surprised I haven't maxed the red out with my natural anti-charisma. I suppose I could do it if I actively tried to tick people off, but that's just not my style.

Quote:Yeah, I'm not exactly new at this. I generally don't get heavy into the maths or IO optimizing, but I do have a notion about how Defense works and how as the percentage gets higher those tiny 1-3% bonuses become more and more significant. Since my Defense is only ~12% right now, as I recall, it's barely making a defensive dent. Especially against guys like the Council/5th, who I believe take significant bites out of Defense.Defense doesn't do much for you until you start stacking it up. At some point you're going to want weave, and get a steadfast 3% def unique. All the love you hear for shields is from softcapped builds and that isn't going to happen until late game when you can start getting IO bonuses into your toon. Until then, carry around lots of purples. Wait until you're on a team and start pulling all the aggro with AAO... lol.
Standard fare, I imagine. Touch of Death, Mako, Gaussian, and then a mix of Steadfast/Impervium in Tough. For AoEs I believe I was looking at Eradication and Obliteration. I was looking at 49% Melee and 44-45% AoE and Ranged when all was said and done (didn't check overall Defense Debuff Resistance). Availability and price will likely impact what I *want* to put in, though. And, of course, I'd *like* to have some of those nifty healing set Procs in Physical Perfection and Health. And I hadn't looked at IO slotting for my Secondary, though. -

Quote:Yeah, I know. They have to be nearly close enough to give me a Phalanx bonus, the bums.Grant Cover's benefit is that it has a lot of your defense debuff resistance. Your teammates need to be right on top of you to get any defense from it.
Quote:If you've ever played SR, you should know that any defense-based set is pretty squishy until you get SOs. If you heavily IO a Shield Defense scrapper it becomes one of the most beastly secondaries currently in the game.
I'm hoping to eventually get some IO sets into this character, though I don't usually bother going beyond basic IOs due to the prohibitive costs (and lately, the market not having recipes I'm after).

After taking a closer look at Shield Defense for Scrappers' totals and finding them a bit anemic on their own, I suppose I'll be working in Tough and Weave after all.
This is what I'm working with so far. Comes out to about 32-33% Defense before working in any sets.

Quote:I'm not sure I saved it, as I was more pondering than stone-setting. I'll take a gander when I get home. I'm not a big fan of Tough/Weave in general, though. Taking either means first wasting a power choice on an attack I don't want. And then Weave, as I recall, gives a disappointing amount of Defense for the End cost. I believe I've taken it on only two characters, a Scrapper who was designed to be nearly all toggles and a Willpower Tanker for whom the End cost is laughable. For me, most of my Scrappers always seem squishy up until I get SOs. Just hang in there. Mind showing your build? I'd like to know what would be taking the place of Tough/Weave. It's been a very long time since I have gone without either powers on any of my Scrappers.
I'm not even sure I'm getting a travel power any time soon, or what it will be. I think I was getting Combat Jumping somewhere in the 20s with Super Jump coming at 50 for lack of anything better to choose, but now that I've been playing the character I'm thinking of going the Flight route.
I know I grabbed all the Shield Powers, three from Fitness, the three aforementioned attacks plus Lightning Rod, Build Up, and possibly Lightning Clap and/or Chain Induction. And either Conserve Power or FA in order to get Physical Perfection (possibly the latter as I was pondering trying to six slot it with... Gaussians To-Hit set?). And I'm pretty sure I took Maneuvers, which is also a bit disappointing for the End cost but compensates for it by benefitting the whole team, stacking with Grant Cover, and not taking more than one power choice. -
I logged off at level 19 Tuesday morning, as I recall. Outcasts, 5th, Council, Vahzilok, and Trolls were giving me fits solo at 0 to +1. Solitary Lts. and Bosses I could do, but two-three minions and a Lt. (or, say, one or two minions and two Lts) would often be too much.
I think I have both the starting toggles, the HP boost, and Active Defense (I hate click mez protection, but que sera). Not much slotting there, yet, as I focussed on my attacks first (Charged Brawl, Havoc Punch, and the jumping AoE smash). Still, it seems exceedingly squishy unless I have a Luck handy.
Don't think I'll have room for Tough/Weave. -
The devs should decide what the fair value is. The player market, if there must be such a horrid thing and it seems that there must, should be limited to reflect that value within a tolerance. Because no one should:

Next, let us scoff at indoor plumbing for cheapening the achievement of visiting the outhouse in the middle of a winter's night in twelve feet of snow... uphill... both ways.Someone way, way, way up there said
You know what I feel cheapens the acheivement?
Patrol XP.
Lowered XP 10-20 and 40-50.
Half debt in mission.
Half the debt cap, period.
No debt till level 10.
Huge team multipliers for XP.
XP in ouro, XP exemplared, XP redoing TF's for the tenth time with a 5-level-higher set of powers.
Jetpacks at 6, jump packs at 10, anyone can get a jetpack earlier if they really want it.
It took me 300 hours to get my second level 50 and I thought that was pretty fast. for someone who never got PL'd.
Now a fast 50 is ... what, 50 hours?
There. Is. No. Acheivement. There. -
Presumably that Shield I'm carting around will eventually start doing something useful, right?
Right now, when solo, I'm reluctant to fight any group higher than -1 level from me if there's a Lieutenant in the group. I suppose it's going to take more slots and getting to SO level before the defense becomes noticeable. -

Quote:I've only managed to fully IO-Set one character, for which I had to make compromises on as I couldn't afford the Healing Set Recovery procs I needed. And for that I was killing green/blue Tsoo/Warriors in Talos, BP in DA, and CoT in FF for untold hours. It was painfully tedious, both due to the build (Toggle Man inspired Spines/Dark) and due to the fact that I would often go for 2-4 hours at a time without seeing any rare salvage much less any worthwhile recipes. That's the sort of drop luck that tends to follow me around. I only managed it on that character because it was absolutely necessary and I was somewhat obsessed with playing that build to 50 at the time.Tenzhi, I'm leveling a fm/sd, she's 31 now. When she was 25 or 26, I went to Dark Astoria and decimated blue, green and white con mobs. With the salvage I got (lots of rares) I got like 20 million per hour selling to the markets, and useful recipes (of course a lot of trash too I just deleted). I got my steadfast and kismet unique in like 2 hours of 'work' by selling salvage in the market and bidding on those recipes for both the claws/sr and fm/sd.
That's using SOs (and insps when needed, they rain anyway when you're farming).
I'm trying to become obsessed with the Elec/Shield I recently made, though. The siren call of Lightning Rod+Shield Charge is beckoning me. -
