    Ghosting.

Only TF ghosted so far was the last mish of the Cavern TF. And that damned things on a timer, with no map. I didnt complain.
Never ghosted any others. Missions, occasionally, if they got too hard/annoying.
Dont really mind it. Its like farming. So long as its not a thing really forced on me, I dont mind it =]
  2. Now im starting to disagree, Spadey. Downgraded AVs can still be quite nasty, and so they should be, swear at them though I may
'Normal' EBs get chewed up and spat back out with extreme prejudice, as they deserve No real problems, unless your even worse than me at playing ATs XD
  3. Can so. I think, if they actually worked on it and took some time, it could be epic. Anything done half-a$$ed will suck, obviously, but theres no reason something thats planned out couldnt be great.
Besides, things like scabbards and w/e used as costume details could coincide with more costume details that would work in similar ways, like backpacks, back details, amongst others. Maybe even, heaven forbid, CoT style robes!
  4. Ah, sweet. Thanks mate =]
  5. Still seem to be getting this bug.
If you normally pay in Pounds and it starts coming up in Euros, does it matter if you buy anyway? Id rather not do anything without confirmation, as if I can get it in the Pounds I would rather do that.
Question is, does it charge the normal rate for area (pounds) even if if incorrectly shows Euro prices? (without the euro sign, stupidly enough)
  6. QR

1 follow up contact redside, one for each starting contact.
    Kalinda - Mongoose
    Burke - Creed
    Always the same.

VEAT and HEAT contacts dont count because they are always the same too. Also, Heroes get either Shadowstar or Sunstorm depending on which epic they use, whereas VEATs only get the one. Admittedly they get more as those arcs go on, so that kinda balances out. But, either way, will always be the same contacts.

As for the Fitness arguement, if it wasnt a tad unbalanced then only people that wanted it would pick it. As is, anyone who doesnt pick /regen, /WP or certain ATs pretty much has to take it, or else they'll be resting every other, if not every mob, and running out of end all the time mid fight. Sure, you can slot for end red, at the cost of accuracy and damage and other things that are also necessary, crippling you in other ways.

    unleash the leviathan

[/ QUOTE ]1) This would destroy Sharkhead Isle, villains would need a replacement zone.

    2) It'd be too powerful. But hey, people are probably bored of the Hamidon, a new 50 man raid encounter would be a breath of fresh air.

    [/ QUOTE ]

well thts another story but maybe the child of leviathan then hehe

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wierdly enough, that actually deatured in a dream I had once...
The whole of Arachnos rolled out to the Sharkhead beaches, and then Leviathan/mini leviathan did the old 'sea serpent surface than dive' thing. And Mako was reduced to a gibbering wreck

I think something like that'd be kinda cool, tbh.

CoX 2 would be competing with CoX, so I do not think that would make sense, especially in the current business climate. And releasing one after the other superhero MMOs had already hit the street would be kind of counter productive as well.
A vast graphical update to the current client would no doubt make at least some players unable to run the game with their current hardware.

I think that it would be far more likely for them to release a new client to the same game. With all the same costume parts and so on, where everything just had higher polygon counts, higher resolution textures, and had applied physics to it as well. A bit like applying the capes style movements to things like lab cotes, robes, skirts, sleeves, loose peaces of cloth (say folded or tied cloth belt) and of cause hair. The same client might also allow players to change the color of powers and the appearance of pets. And the old client could just ignore the added data seeing the powers as normal.

UO added a second client with the release of AoS, giving player the option between the old 2d sprits version and a new 3d version.

Then a few years down the line, when the vast majority had switched to the new client and the hardware to be able to run the old one had become completely obsolete, NC Soft could then discontinuity support for the old client.

    Thats sounds like an idea...

I think perhaps that a fantasy world is generally seen as existing within a medieval one. In other words, you could take a medieval setting, and would only need to add wizards, orcs and goblins for it to be seen as a fantasy setting.

Perhaps the former is close enough to the latter to make people feel nauseous when it is suggested?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fantasy; Magic very common, things like orcs, goblins, elementals, magic items by the bucket load, stupid looking and impractical yet +1squillion armours, done to death.

ACTUAL Medieval; peasants, lack of technology, realistic castles, realistic and practical armour, non-magical but very sharp swords, knights, the occasional wizard/witch, plenty of scope for Heroic activities and Villain exploitation.

People have WoW phobia, with some very valid reasons.
Medieval does NOT equal WoW/AoC, however, unless whoever implemented such a system was as unimaginative as a brick wall with the foresigh of a duck...

lol i didnt just pop my head around the door, i did a full island lap, im not the only one to have found there to be none in recent times neither. Perhaps u need more on team to spawn but uhm TF to include those zones more would be good

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Only just noticed this.

The villain version of Monster Island zone includes all the islands to the north of Peregrine Island including Monkey Island. You have been looking on the wrong island.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Check the map. Theres a clump of islands further in.
Yes, Monkey Islands is the first lot you come to.
THEN you get the lumps of rock covered in the nastiest critters Hamidon can throw at you. And I went in solo, and I found them. Go figure.

    Reworked TP pool

    [ QUOTE ]
how about a power pool like:

    1. teleport enemy : teleports target to a location you choose (within reason, no dropping off a cliff, same targetting options as current recall power but with better range)

    2. recall friend (same as is)

    3. teleport chain (same as current teleport power)

    4. Anchored teleport: you set a "pin" in the map by physically standing at the position and activating the power. when you activate the power (long activation and disruptable so not to be used in combat) you get an option list (like base teleporter) where you select either "set anchor" (you name the anchor when you set it) or you click on an existing anchor. Numbers are limited to 1 anchor per two or three levels. ( a system where you can use team mates as anchors would be nice too).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Number four is nice. I see no reason to gimp TP foe by removing the 'TP off cliff option'. Increased range would be nice, as would be blooming stealth factor. As in, the mobs DONT know where the TP'er is, so they all hound after them. I mean, thats the whole POINT of TP, no one knows where it came from!
/rant against lack of common sense
  12. Question; Which builds can solo AVs? Because, from bitter experience, I have found said conflicts impossible.

And it'd still be generic and [censored]

    [/ QUOTE ]

By this logic, every Medieval themed hero and villain is also generic and [censored].

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah but they mostly are.

The whole concept of "medieval" in comicbook lore has been done to death and failed. Look at the Captain Britain origin - straight from the pages of Mallory with Herb Trimpe art and that was the only thing that kept it going as long as it did.

Medieval & Superheroes don't mix. Cimerora just about works because it's a dip in zone. Totally optional (and I think goes towards the Well of the Furies origin arc.)

There are so many other worthy time periods and zones to discover within the Superhero/comicbook genre. Yes, we can have dragons (Fin Fang Foom anyone?) but please god no!!! Not the damsel in distress [censored] that's been done to death and belongs in a bygone age!!!!!

Go play AoC if that's what you want. They got a new patch today so have fun with that instead

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Other peoples opinions differ.
Maybe they could have the damsel in armour (Valkyrie, y'know, maybe? ) if it really bugs you that much.
Anyway, CoX sure as hell isnt WoW or AoC, and never will be by any comparable measure.

more in zones wud be a help, Monster island is a joke , no monsters only rikti monkeys totally underutilised waste of space zone. Some mishes in there wud be a good idea or a tf centered around it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uhm...how far did you go in?
Its a copy of the islands on the outskirts of Peregrine Island. And its LOADED with Devouring Earth Monsters. And I mean loaded.
Go. Hunt. And bring a LOT of backup

If they did what they did with Cimerora, pick a time and a place and add elements to it, it could be cool.
    OR!
They could have a portal to the realm where Infernal came from.
Hes Medieval, as is his dimension. Given hes pals with the Phalanx, surely if there was trouble back home he could get people to help?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Sure, but it would be nice if they gave us some REALISTIC armour options for medieval in-game. The current 'medieval' armour looks HORRIBLE, something no real knight would even dream of wearing.
Besides, there are still examples of medieval stuff in superhero/villain things. Captain America wears scale mail for heavens sake, theres other examples but my brain is on the fritz right now...
Anyway, just because AoC and WoW have them doesnt mean we shouldnt. We can do it better!

    [/ QUOTE ]

My objection isn't to the armour or mail clad heroes. Yes there are plenty of superhero examples including Black Knight, Valkyrie and even Conan himself has been known to grace Madison Avenue. That's before we even think about Dr Victor von Doom. That said I think some of the armour's a bit clunky but perfectly acceptable. But, I don't think this game needs a "medieval zone." There's a lot more "mainstream" comicbook stuff they can add. I'm probably on the same page as Mr Marvellous, sure they can do that when they've done everything else.

Oh and Cap only wore scale mail when the artist felt like it but if you notice it never seemed to tear up as scale male would

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dunno, interesting though Cimerora was, I think a Medieval zone would have been better than that. But I also agree that adding another 'Past' zone isnt a great idea, at least not IMO.

Having a zone with Nemesis/Steampunk castles, clockwork powered nasties and technomancy, now...
  18. Meh, im just seeing his point of view.
Personally, any EB damned stupid enough to get in MY way better be ready to face a good dosing of spine-rending, massed laser/missile/flamer bombardment, evsciration and explosions via backpack or a number of other gribbly fates.
Heck, even Ballista's arent THAT bad...solo'd one on my claws/ninja staker, even level. Still got his spine somewhere...
  19. I dont know what the hell recipes you get in each random roll 'zone' so to speak, so I jsut save my merits, such as they are, for things I actually really want.

Tbh, IOs are seeming more and more like such a chore. It might be a nice add-on for 50s or such, and sometimes Insanely useful (KB resist in VEATs and my Ninja stalker...) but its NOT friendly in any way to those who dont have the bloomin time to crunch certain arcs/TFs over and over to get merits. ESPECIALLY when Merits arent earnt doing other peoples arcs.

You will NEVER stop in-game farming. Real-money trading should be hunted down and stamped on, sure, but in-game stuff shouldnt be a bugbear. If some people want to play the game that way, so LET them. It SHOULDNT be a factor that influences everyone else who plays, often for the worse.

  20. I did ask the same question, and was a bit dissapointed with the reply. Woulda been nice to take so many shooty attacks, all fromthe Crab backpack. But hey.

    Crab Question

Got five/five pets what I want on my Crabs main build, I have to say it is great fun. When even slightly slotted, the Spiderlings and Disruptors chew through mobs like no-ones business. Couple them with venom nade and the oh so hany Omega Bomb and your home laughing in no time =D

I think from reading this thread I'm getting the impression that Grinning Spade wants his cake and to eat it too. The XP from high mobs without the challenge of the EBs.

This game has become more and more dumbed down since NCSoft took over the IP - arguably before then too - but it doesn't need any more dumbing down and sure you can solo but this game is an MMO. If you want to get a game you can solo, then why not get an offline game? One of the major points of an MMO is that you can enjoy the team experience it seems to me, and each AT is designed to work in tandem with others. If that weren't the case there'd be one AT, a form of blappempath.

If you aren't managing to do EBs solo then get a team, or change your AT, or lower your difficulty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well I DO love to eat cake.

But that is not my intention. I want to be challenged in this game, not by endbosses or EB's but by the normal mobs.

Having to lower the difficulty to beat the EB defeats my first purpose.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I see where hes getting at. Certain ATs deal with mobs in different ways, and the difficulties atm work with that principal just fine. So for a Brute whos great at crunching mobs, you can ramp up the difficulty to add more challange, instead of it being a steamroller.

However, I agree that some of the EBs may need a bit of balancing. Challanging, yes, definately. Some of them arent, even solo. And then some are so evil that they make even villains shudder a bit.
And, although it IS an MMO, and is great because of it, you CANT say 'you cannot play this game solo'. An example is a friend in the SG, who only teams with friends and people he knows/respects. He doesnt like PuGs, and so solo's for the most part. He pays his subs too, so are you saying he HAS to play the game a certain way?
    Options, options are good!
