  1. All sounds good so far!
For the love of pete (and us, and you >.> ) DONT rush it. Make it ready. Make it good. Make it Epic.
So looking forward to this...now...Wheres that new gaming rig?
  2. Man, I need to get into PnP sometime XD
Always leafing through my big brothers old DnD 2nd Ed books, but it all gets a tad complex for my brain-ina-jar

The mould! The mould is coming for you! XD

Who's to say that, under the mild-mannered exterior, she IS the evil that lurks within the hearts of posters?

    The Dawn Patrol

If it was anyone other than the Dawn Patrol, I'd say just go for it.
But, even in the scant background we get, they are meant to be something special. And they are the UK equivelant of the Phalanx, which aside from Longbow, people start raising eyebrows and being sceptical if people say they are members.

That said...the Patrol wouldn't have the clout of the Phalanx in the US, reputation and push wise (power wise they might have), so it might be possible to get away with it...
Damn, if this does start up I may well slaughter an alt to roll up some sort of Hero for my homeland

    Thanks Craggy,
I'm an ideas person at heart and not really any good at explaining things non-technically...
You however have done an excelent translation of what I was trying to get over with my suggestions.

    Techbot_Alpha:
Why not have all existing Veterans being given the option of having a vet reward respec?

At least that way everyone from Beta up could re-select their rewards if they wanted to, just like a costume change token is issued when new costumes become available.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because that totally defeats the whole point of Veteran Rewards.
They are meant to be something special. They've been set to be that way, so that the more you've played the more you unlock. Going back and diddling that chops a huge chunk out of the special factor.

I don't see any way the Devs will fiddle with it, tbh.

Testing arcs should be about sorting them out so that you, the author, know they work right. It's hard enough fighting through when they don't drop inspirations, making fights nastier than they should be. Addin in debt?

What they SHOULD do is add in testing tools, like invisibility or Unkillable mode, so that you can fight through to, y'know, Test the thing, maybe?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The problem with that is the badges you get in test mode for defeating enemies, clicking glowies, destroying items etc. Maybe if they made it so progress towards those didn't count if you chose god mode.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or simply remove badges from Test mode, which they might do from the sounds of it?
I mean, of all the daft things to do...

you are a bit dense here, vet rewards unlock costume pieces and some bonus things, that's all.
what you are saying is that it ruins the game, giving everyone the awesome button or the insta-win skill.....really dense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Sure, it isn't game breaking.
But its the effort/time/money put in.
Someone who has the veteran awards will (unless they have been ill/indesposed/kinda odd) have played for that ammount of time.
    Its a Veteran REWARD.
In fact, suggesting that theres nothing wrong with getting the reward but no badge could be seen as equally dense.

    [/ QUOTE ]
someone that buy's the rewards also takes money/time/effort in it, but then all at ones.
also, it's already rare enough to see anyone with a 52 vet reward simply because ppl get bored with the game really fast, nothing really new to do is only lowering the fanbase.

i'm open minded here, just looking to the logic behind it.
vet rewards are there to lore players to keep paying for it, but lately ppl get more adult and see it's not worth the money.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uhm....maybe cos the Game only JUST hit 60 months? And that only those who have been in since BETA will have that many months in vet awards? And only if they've taken no breaks?

You speak of logic. Kindly enlighten me with yours? Im having difficulty finding it.

    Time subbed = 60 months
Money paid = 60 months worth
Rewards = 60 Month Vet Award

    You seem to be suggesting;

    Time subbed = 3 months
Money paid = 60 months all in one go
Rewards = 60 month vet awards

Which is wrong on so many different levels.

So you're saying that, for many people, the game isn't worth subbing to for 52 months, but it is worth paying 52 months worth of subs to get vet rewards which don't really impact the game?

    The Perfect CoX

This is working on the assumption that I get me a new Gaming Rig

    Techbot ALPHA's CityOfRevamp

    World Overhauls

Down come the walls. The warwall's purpose has long failed. The villains are everywhere anyway, and the Rikti can bypass their own tech. Instead they are limiting the City's Heroes, so down they come.

Zones would still exist, per se, but a bit more like the districts in the City at present. Atlas Park and Galaxy City remain the starting zones, with plenty of land in between zones.

More city life, busses, schools, shops and the like. Randomly generated World Missions, such as hold ups, shoplifting, bank robberies and suchnot would crop up, and players have a police radio to let them know when and where such events are occuring. Bigger content comes from the main contacts, but with a much more freeform style to the game.

In the Rogue Isles, starting Zones become Upper Mercy and The Slums. Start off rising out of the trash, or slink your way into the big time.

The Islands would now be connected by Ferries and Black choppers. All of them. Or you could now of course fly/swim/teleport your way across. You might run into a shark or two, but hey, thats life!

In the Rogue Isles, theres always stuff going on. Gang wars, blackmailings, bribery and corruption galore. Fortunes are made and lost, so keep an eye on all the rumours and pick which ones you want to follow up.

    Options, more options!

Powers, costume choices, colours and tints and tones. The more the merrier, seeing as this is something CoX does exceedingly well, so don't let that die, come on!

The Fight Between Good and Evil

It's a war out there kid, and you better believe it. Certain parts of the City aren't as safe as you'd like, while bits of the Isles are more than just hotspots. Areas like Kings Row, Dark Astoria, Boomtown, Nerva, Crey's Folly and Warburg are all flashpoints for Heroic and Criminal activities. If it's something your not sure you can handle, the PPD will be on hand to assist, and you can bet your bottom dollar that Arachnos won't be idle with Heroes on their turf. But, what right minded Hero or Villain can resist a chance to take on the oposition? Keep a wary eye out for the sneaky ones, or those wily enough to bring a whole mess of backup.

    War: On many Fronts

The Rikti menace, but how evil are they? The tech comes in handy, and some of them want to make peace. Of course, some want to bust heads as much as you might do, so it's a double edge blade. Sometimes, you need to go with the flow.
    Rikti initiation: Complete. Action: Begin.

    Technobabble

That's just a few things. Rikti playable, maybe? Being able to sneak into the hotter zones of Paragon, or go in all guns blazing with a mob at your back, and vice versa. No war walls? One can dream
  10. /Signed, and to Eh's suggestion to.
The main thing I loved about MA's tickets was being able to slot fully, effectively and thoroughly. No more fething messing around with horrible, horrible half slottings until into the high 30s/40s.
  11. Ok, thanks for the explanation, Craggy. At least that actually made sense.

I admit, it would be sort of nice to allow for a bit of choice. Changing the Vet awards as to how they work is a huge no no, i.e. they can't be bought in a pack, only through months played, as is now. The problem with giving the players pools now would be the upset with the existing veterans. For example, I would love the Arachnos helmets instead of the Sprints, but if I suddenly got that and someone who had been playing since BETA didnt get the choice...well, uproar ensues.

As to the event things, again, they are supposed to be a bit special. Yes it would be nice if we had all the bits ti fit every concept (see my mauling of the Costume suggestion thread) but, sadly, I doubt it will happen.
Such are the whims of the devs.

  13. Eh, technically there sort of are things like this. The handbag swiping Hellions in Atlas and Galaxy, the stranded women in the Hollows...and you can always maul everyone in the Rogue Isles. Thematically, I don't think people would be crazy enough to ask a Villain for help

Not a bad idea, but not something I can see being implemented.

    New Archetypes

    [ QUOTE ]
i still think dual guns is the thing to have, simply because we don't have that without minions to spoil the fun.

i do want to see a different kind of origin, 2 actually.
angel kind and demon kind, they sound like they should be magic, but to them it's not magic but rather a normal thing.
but because normal is way to much focused on human normal, it doesn't fit there ether.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Quoted from the Origin itself;

"You aren't 'super' at all; your amazing talents come from intense training and innate abilities. You might have been driven to physical excellence by some all-encompassing desire for perfection or revenge, or perhaps you are not human at all, and possess powers natural to your race. With your natural origin you have to rely on your cunning and skil."

I take it some people don't slot Reading these days?

TRAIL versions for playing with them before you get them

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *cough Trial cough*
And this is already in game. It's called going out there and doing the missions that give you these temp powers.

    T.A.

    Player 2.
Has bought the event costumes (via minipacks) - no badges or other special bit's / bonuses,
and earned one (1) pool 'C' Vet reward...

    Not the same...

    Could even say:
    Player 3.
Level 50 and only ever used the AE!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Buying the event minipacks is still tosh, whichever way you wrap it up.

Its like one person going to an event, say, and getting a free souvenier for having showed up. It's meant to be special.

Then another person just goes and buys it on eBay or something, because 'its cool and they want it'. Which totally defeats the point.

The same can be said for veteran awards, because I sure as hell don't know what the other suggestion is. Pools? 3, 12, eleventy 5? English, please.
  17. Options are good.
    This is just trash.

It's as bad as PL'ing to 50 in a day.
    No, it really is.
    Example:

    Player 1.
Has played since BETA. Has earned every badge they own, has unlocked all the special bits from the events and has played through the game in full.

    Player 2.
Has played for 3 months. Has all the kit. Is down about £/$ 100, but that's ok isn't it?

Seriously. Just stop. You're making my brain itch, and my trigger finger twitch.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
i see nothing wrong with it, you get the reward, but not the badge....doesn't really spoil anything ether.
