You can make it so that the most "desirable" result storyline-wise is to actually fail a mish--be it by running out of time, letting someone get away or an ally die etc. I'm not sure, but it may be possible to set an ally's survival as required to complete a mish, but then also set him to betray you after the completion of a certain objective.
That said I'm not really sure what you're trying to get at, though I'd steer well clear of anything that has heavy-handed and player character within the same sentence. -
I'd like to make an ice dom for when GR hits, but I'm torn between either going corr or def.
Normally this is a straight-cut issue of buffage > defender and moar damage > corr, but cold dom is an oddity in that its -res debuff is equal for both corrs and defenders.
So really for me, that just leaves the only important difference to be in their ice shields.
I'm also likely going to pair cold with DP if that helps.
*correction: that should be "cold dom". :s -

Tickets go:
5* > 25 tickets
4* > 20
3* > 15
and no tickets for anything lower. You'll need to claim the tickets from the ticket vendor if you haven't tried that already. -
There are rewards in MA, though for the most part they are less than that if you were to do regular content.
Basically: there are some who don't think this is enough and think there should be no reward at all, in order to purge any chance of it being used for farming.
And there are others who think there should be rewards if not equal to that of doing regular content, as a legitimate levelling alternative for those who have done the dev created stuff to death.
There's a whole lot of other stuff to the debate as well, but that would require trawling through pages of tears.
Edit: ah, Blood beat me to it. -
Taunt gets such a bad rap; it's an awesome set mule.

I pretty much agree with DSorrow here. His build is also very solid given your budget, with the most expensive probably being the eradication set.
I can't speak for him, but to answer your questions:
Quote:Boxing is slightly more powerful, and still has the disorient (though it's not something a raging brute really needs). The main reason why you should replace boxing for jab is to free yourself one more power slot. Why boxing? I like jabs cheap disorient, cant tell you how many times I've tabbed and jabbed something in the face to have it stagger around and then tab back to what I was fighting
Quote:Also why no Unstoppable, I think its a pretty good "Oh crap button" also good for tanking certain heroes.
Quote:I guess I don't really understand the slotting either, what is a SS/INV brute looking for? Defence/DMG and what exactly (recharge/end reduction)?
Quote:The ancillary power pools dont really seem that fantastic to me, yet you've taken two. Why? is it for the set bonuses you get from the IO'ing?
Quote:Regarding IO'ing wouldnt it be better to have ones that are around lvl 50 and not 10(ish) levels below?
DP is slotted for max rech via sets in DS' build, try turning pop-ups on and seeing the values on your Mids? -
Aye, I just find it very odd that an arc from who is arguably the most famous guest author was pulled down without any mention why, from either the devs or Kurtz himself somewhere.

Meh.
I was intrigued when I first heard about the Nemesis comic and saw the slick teaser art.
What I got instead was a crude comic that was pretty blatantly film-bait. I read up to Nemesis' origin story in the second issue before I put it down and realised Millar just dumped on any potential promise the premise had. -
Interesting guide, didn't realise it existed till now.
-
What happened to that arc? Seems like it just quietly slipped away without any mention.
-
All of them should be able to contribute, though I'd probably err on the vanilla brute if people are expecting you to main tank and your team is not saturated in support ATs.
That said no one is going to deny a fire/therm corr a spot. -
No.
Less brazen response: how about keep the IO defense buffs, but raise and increase the options for res buffs mkay?
On-topic: I wouldn't say S/L is necessarily the most "useful", but it's certainly the easiest to build for on most chars. -
Yay, new guides! Just read your fortunata guide and I gotta ask: why not try a bane? They've always struck me as the melee support class, what with it's stronger Maneuvers and its ability to stack up to -60% res (or -80% with AH proc).
-
Just an update: I've decided to go forward with a Fire/Dark brute. Invuln was definitely tempting and perhaps the safest choice, but now I'm also curious with just how much I can push Dark. Thanks to everyone that responded.

According to Mid's, EA has 51.9% DDR and 86.5% with Overload.
-
Thanks for the great suggestions so far.
Quote:Currently I'm considering going fire. I've ran a Stone/WP to 50, but I've lost a lot of love for her when they significantly slowed down the animation times for most of the ST attacks, plus Tremor is very blarg. You didn't mention primaries so I'm not sure if you've already got one in mind or not, but I'd recommend SS or Stone. Both have good AoE and mitigation tools to help out with keeping you on your feet. Both have good ST damage for the AVs and bosses on TFs.
I do like SS, though I initially avoided it as I was wary of having any chance of a rage crash occurring for a build that I wanted to be as sturdy as possible. -
Ah was gonna respond to Sprite, but Carnifax summed it up perfectly.
Quote:Just tested it against lvl 27 (even con) Freaks, CoT and Council (just the normal soldiers) and it's the same thing: no -speed debuff--except when I actually lay down RoF in which case it does properly apply the -speed debuff from LR.Tangler, what sort enemies were you using LR on in your OP? Or was it multiple different types of enemies? There are some that resist or altogether ignore -run speed debuffs (wolves, for one)
Tried it against lvl 19 Luddites outside the Cap BM (8 levels below me, not sure if this is a factor) and LR was applying the debuff properly. -
We were definitely getting some bad lag last night during a LGTF and ITF (yes ITF always lags, but that night it was particularly obnoxious).
-
So there I was, happily levelling my Fire/Rad corr when with gleeful... glee, when I thought wouldn't it be awesome if I slotted LR for maximum slow debuff, thereby trapping my enemies in a hellstorm of fire much like my fancypants Fire/Dark cousins.
...Except the enemies weren't brought all the way down to the -speed cap, in fact they weren't being slowed down at all. I ended up using the Analyzer temp power to check the enemies' stats and sure enough, LR was dropping their flight and jump speed, but not run speed despite indicating that it should do so in its info tab.
What gives? :/ -
I'm interested in making a brute, but I'm finding myself torn between which armor sets to pick and I'm hoping some experienced brute players could chip in with some suggestions.
As the title suggests, I want a brute that should have no problem dealing with the current end-game TFs i.e. ITF, LGTF and the LRSF. I often run speed runs with a group, so ideally I want a brute that can hold their own be it against an army of cimerorans, nictus or rikti when it's time to split up objectives, and can act as the main tank for the LRSF too.
Am I asking too much? You tell me.
Edit: Just to add that you can assume that inf is no objective, though the pvp sets are likely beyond my scope. -
Just wanted to say that this is a great resource. I've been using this to find many level appropriate arcs for a new villain I've been levelling.
-
A bit more left-field, but you might consider bringing a bots/pain mm over to blueside. Definitely soloable, and the heals are still pretty solid especially if you grab power boost. I've completed LRSFs with mine as the main "heal guy", which is one of the few instances you would really consider having someone to focus on heals.
-
It really depends on the powersets you are picking.
Most support sets will tend to lean towards the defenders' favour, though kinetics is far superior for corrs due to the higher base damage and cap, as well as it being still easy for corrs to hit that cap after two applications of FS.
There is also the issue of how much support do you consider to be "enough". For example while the dark defenders' ability to floor the enemies' tohit several times over is mighty impressive, it is also overkill. On the flip side a cold defenders' ability to buff allies to 30+ def is significantly more powerful than the corr who can only buff up to the 20s.
On the blast side, nothing can really beat fire blast for direct damage. Though if you prefer to set your foes up for the big team damage then a defenders' sonic blast is fierce. -
Try slapping in 2-3 range IOs in your Frostbreath. I find that that bit much more range/area coverage changes it from a "meh too positional" power into a "ohsnap look at all those orange numbers" power.
