Sure, if you also cut the cast time down and make the animation way less stupid.

Storm benefits from the -kbless immob that grav offers, and gives you something to do that can establish control while you wait on level 26 and wormhole. So that's something.

For the same reason they call it a sport, and they call the Kardashians entertainment.

I've been going through a (somewhat laborious) process of respeccing, tightening up, and fixing up a variety of builds I had been leaving alone for some time, and I gotta echo CMA here. Some builds need nothing, some builds need a lot.

Or you could learn the basics of how to handle the market and never be one of the dirty poor people who actually worries about buying orange salvage.

Yeah, stacking good defence on moderate resistances seems a better plan than outrageous defence. Still, we'll see how it goes.

Second, S/L/M is easily picked up because of the overlap between the two, and the use of obliterations mostly because of its recharge. A more expensive build could soft-cap to SLEN, but that same build would probably be overkilling given that I'm talking about a tank who's already running at 8/+3 without problems. Finally, there are a number of foes who don't throw huge amounts of S/L around in melee - and those foes are still tripped up by the melee defence. -
Well, first and foremost, here's the end-results as it matters to me of my own exploit in fire/fire tankers.
Here's her build. Things to bear in mind when using it as a starting point. Note that there's a lot of stuff in this set for -recharge; Lucks of the Gambler, the Entropic Chaos, and the Crushing Impacts. These are unnecessary for the build to operate. The defence 'skin' of the character is built around getting a decent chunk of S/L/M defence from the Obliterations, the Enfeebled Operation, Smashing Haymaker and Mocking Beratement.
Now, this is not a cheap build! Even without the -recharge components, it's still a lot of obliteration pieces. But it's a build you can grow into, and using the same slotting and just putting SOs in them while you earn the money to make the build feasible* you can still play the character without being in any particular way disadvantaged.
* Or you can play on the market and make tons and tons and tons of money and just buy it. -
The only thing more tiresome than the people who care about purples are the people who aggressively don't care about purples and expect the former group to think them so very impressive because of that.

These days I have been striving to go back through my (decently large) cloud of 50s, and one project that had been sitting on a server unattended for some time was this lad here.
Now, he's not going to stay red for long - I'm a sucker for heroes - but this build struck me a few days ago, and I was excited to dust him off and give him a shot.
Build link here, if you're curious. For those who don't want to open it up, he's a fire/fire blaster with Scorpion Mastery, Spiritual Alpha, and working on the first tiers of incarnate stuff. I'll be focusing on getting him the +HP accolades too, now that HP is the only thing that really stands to be gained in terms of survivability, but I have learned a few things since getting this build.
The most signficant thing is... my lord, soft-capped S/L isn't all that much! I really need more HP, more regeneration and maybe a self-heal as well. Now, I know that the factions I've fought on him automatically have a way to trump defense; It's been DE, Malta and Longbow lately.
Anyone have a suggestion for an area this boy would thrive?
(Combustion and Invoke Panic are in the build to use as costume-change emotes, in case you're curious) -
Quote:Well, holy crap.Hello everyone!
Yesterday, I wwent to Champion and, with a group of brave Champions (see what I did there?), I ran the arc "Hopeless" (Arc #29262), which is about a rich man who seeks revenge for the loss of his daughter. With excellent map choices and well-chosen Enemy Groups, this is certainly an interesting arc to play!
Thank you to the following Champions who joined me on the adventure!

I find that Gauntlet is what keeps me coming back to the brute, yeah. Scrappers just can't hold aggro the way that brutes can.
-
The trick is that katana has short animations, meaning with large amounts of recharge, your build-up window of 10 seconds can be a large number of hard-hitting attacks. Since scrappers have a larger base and get more out of build-up, that little 10 second rampage can be a big burst of damage that the brute might have a hard time catching up to.
It's swings and roundabouts really. -
Quote:You assume that I'd be able to get the # of plays, the rating, and the arc ID# I had back when I had hope for the system back. When large mission-altering patch changes go live with regards to AE, please considering wiping all the non-dev's choice/guest author arcs from the interface.
Many, many of the arcs currently in AE are unusable thanks to various changes, and their authors are uninterested in updating them.
Those authors interested in continuing to work with AE will tweak their missions and re-upload them.
Those who are gone, or no longer interested, won't keep clogging up the AE interface with missions that are essentially dead.
This would throw out a lot of babies with that bathwater. -

Wouldn't the power gauntlets be their power? Tech or magic?
This is what gets up my nose about characters like Manticore. The body armour, the compound bow, the many, many arrows, they're not actually part of his powers. Nooooo. -
It reminds me of Hawkeye, who constantly belabours that he's a totally normal, natural human being. Because if he didn't, nobody would believe he is.

Quote:Which hasn't stopped us from getting Dual Blades, Street Justice, Willpower, min-FX regen, min-FX invulnerability, martial arts, shields, vorpal judgement, etc. etc. etc.
I can see where your complaint comes from - there is a real lack of abilities that a 'natural' human can use, but that stems from the fact that a natural human could never compete with a 50 ton brute who can eat tanks for breakfast.
I am, I know, and you know me in this regard, somewhat antagonistic towards 'natural' characters as a matter of redundancy. But there are lots of options for 'normal people' who somehow can compete with 50 ton brutes who can eat tanks for breakfast. -
Quote:As resistant as I am to change to these sets, I would like to suggest that if this change were to be made, it should be made to Tank fire and dark.BTW, I would also do this for Fire Armor, in their case it would go in Fire Shield.
Edit: To clarify, I am sure Starsman is not saying this is a change that should be exclusive, but I am saying that I support this change for tanks. If everyone got it, sure, nice, but I like the idea of making it an additional way to differentiate tanks (with a team-focused role) to the other, more damage-oriented fire/dark characters. -
I'll idly note that I run Cloak of Fear as a -tohit debuff. But I'm weird.

Quote:I think you're misunderstanding me in this context. You are the one putting the words where they don't exist "with me"
I find your individual manner of expression very confusing. I'm restating what I read from what you said, and explaining my response to that because I'm not sure if that's what you actually mean.
Right now, I don't think there is any need for balance-related changes to Dark Armour - need in this case meaning 'if this is not done, the population of this armour set will fall significantly and permanently.' I don't think any armour set is significantly behind the others for the archetypes that get them. -

Spring attack cannot match up to other AOEs. But it can complement them all quite nicely. Bonus if you want to play positional games.
