    Dark control!

    That is a really weird way to look at it, though. It's not like you can make a /Dark Miasma controller.
  2. The problem Ice has is that Ice doesn't have any big problems. It's not amazing, it's not terrible, and the little design problems (like the widespread immunities and resistances to Ice Slick, the intraset conflict with the AOE immob, Jack's slightly thick AI) are pretty insignificant compared to the problems Gravity has.

    It's definitely the second-worst control set to my eye, but the gap between it and the set above it is very different to the gap between it and the set below it.

    I'm a fussbritches, but I think that your primary should do primary things, seconday doing secondary things, so I'm pretty fine with dark affinity lacking the better controls.

    The original reasoning - and I now speak of dark magic, of ancient lore of times long past, back before I7 - that why Controllers couldn't have Dark Miasma is because Dark had too much control and would be too powerful as a control secondary as-is. Petrifying Gaze was specifically cited.

    Time cuts a lot of the same grass as Dark. If Dark's too potent for controllers, chances are so is Time.

    It can't be, and it won't. They're going to have to make new art assets for it.

    Dark Miasma for controllers has become something more inevitable with the release of Time Manipulation.

    From the surface, darkness control sounds like it'll be some cobbled together set using powers already in-game.     Well, Dark Manipulation is already cobbled from Dark Melee and features at this point... I think five powers we can't have.

    We were excepted from the previous round of proliferation, being told that 'something special' was coming for doms.

    What forum is this thread on?

    Might it be that it's not 'something special' for doms if it is, in fact, coming for controllers as well? And that it's not 'something special' and is in fact just 'something?' Perhaps even 'anything?'

    Dark Control could be fine. Could be fun. It's still not what we were told was coming, or, if it is, I feel as if communication has been deliberately manipulative towards a subgroup of the community. That worries me. It worries me that there's an outside possibility that a small segment of the population that represents a whole archetype is now considered small enough that we're relatively ignorable.

    They're not useless. They do damage. And I'm sure that most SR scrappers are pretty damn useless too when there's autohitting damage flying around. But you're sure as **** not soloing whole waves of them unless you're already well-incarnated out.

    And 'doms or controllers' is not the issue. Controllers bring force multiplier powers.

  20. Yep. And the rising tide has changed everyone's perspective on the matter, but I still feel that the power to solo AVs on SOs makes it likely that the set is not terribly underpowered.

    In a BAF, the LT mind-wiped are immune to all controls, and almost everyone has an AOE immobilize that'll do the business on the minions, but still. You can mez adds, for as long as that'll last. But the real issue is, that in trials, you're bringing damage and murder. You shouldn't be stressing about trying to control threats that are beyond you, and even if you do, you're not going to be killed by throwing chars at Siege unless nobody else has his aggro.
