  1. Thanks to those who have inputted, I suppose I'll have to wait until the incarnate craze wears off...or go onto my 50s and try em out. I'll be sued to have a look at global channels.
  2. First of all, apologies if this question is in the wrong section, if I need to recreate the thread in a different section then by all means let me know.

So, after returning to CoH/V after a year out I decided to create a shield/fire tanker, as tanking is my favourite role in RPGs.

So teaming was okay levelling, occasionally managing to maintain a group of 5 or 6 and blasting through missions, having fun, gaining xp etc.

Now I am lvl 26 and it seems I can't find anyone who is willing to team with me, if I'm lucky I can get a group of 3 together for a short while.

I suppose my main question is, why all of a sudden can I not find anyone to team with around my level? Is it a matter of luck? Or the level range I am in happens to be scarce?

Currently I am on the union serverl, joined the first sg I could find for the sake of having people to level with, although no one seems to be on most of the time. If anyone on union is willing to take on a casual tank as a teaming buddy/sg recruit I'd be very grateful.

    Thanks.

PS my tanks' name is Emberhorn.
  3. Thanks for the advice, safe to say I'm happy with the feedback you've given me. While I'm not all that competent when it comes to IO sets I think I'll be able to come up with something

And yeah I'm lvl 19 ATM and I've already seen how much damage it can pull off, which is why I'm considering getting build up next lvl to nuke down Bosses/annoying luitenants.
  4. Finally, after all this time deviating backwards and forwards from a variety of classes I have reverted back what I favour most when it comes to MMOs: Tanking. I've had a browse over powersets and I came up with Shield/Fire which seems like what I want out of a tank. High defences, constant threat, hefty AoE capability and hella balls to the wall awesome power effects.

So with this in mind I have two questions.

    - Has this build got some potential as a geniune tanking set or is it doomed from the start?
    - would anyone have any suggestions as to what to invest in with IOs? I'm not very good with them.

    Thank you!
  5. "Nothing worth having is ever easy to obtain" really applied here.

Thanks for your help, I'm looking at this build, your suggestions and a couple of other hints and builds I have recieved, hopefully I will figure out a compromise before I shoot myself.
  6. Thanks for the help Twilight, didn't really take into account the figures on Darkest Night.

One concern though, there seems to be a lack of AoE without whirling axe (tentacles have be lined up since it's a cone which is annoying.)

Also, I'm not sure how effectively I will tank without taunt.
  7. ever since hitting 50 I've constantly been told my players i regularly team with that I need the so called "softcap" on S/L defense (which I assume is 45%, maybe abit less since I have Rttc). So I've been trying to put together a build to reach that cap, I am currently farming x8 equal level (sometimes +1). Mainly council and circle.

Main problems are 1) I'm crap with making my build. 2) My build's gonna cost too much even if it is appropriate.

  8. Please don't say he's actually going to go with that build. It will be the end of CoV as we know it...
  9. OK then I have made a few tweeks to my build, mostly gonna be pve but some casual pvp maybe.

Just wanted to note that I went /nrg for the direct damage (like ice does I know) but instead of slow debuffs I desired some more knockback, form experience with my nrg blapper (now deleted) this worked well against bosses. And since I have ice slick I'll be juggling alot of mobs
  10. Mind/ice sounds like the prime candidate for crowd control in teams, along with mu mastery as patron set seen as u get heal bot (makes up for the loss of a pet) and power sink and a toggle which IMO are great assets to almost any dominator.
Don't forget carnies will make you cry with thier psi resistance and annoying battle styles. But I guess that is where /ice would help.
Not gonna criticise ur build as I have no experience with these power ets.
  11. OK ages ago I left CoX for World of Warcraft, tried that for a few months and the community is in shambles so I decided to quit WoW and return to CoX. And while I'm getting my lvl 44 scrapper to lvl 50 I think my alt will either be my old as hell robo/FF MM or start an Ice/Nrg dominator. I know at low lvls doms will want to makeme cry but I saw what doms and trollers are like with thier primary powers at high lvls and I was just...SHOCKED!

    Anyway here is my build.

Couple of things about my build...

-That is right, I am taking the dreaded patron pet, but I want one for concept reasons and just to have a playmate for ol' jack

    - Thinking of getting hasten earlier and dropping something like sniper blast until later on.

    - If you feel my slotting is total pants just say because I am in no way a veteran when it comes to doms. Just please keep it constructive.

I think that's just about it...comments and criticism are mroe than welcome.
  12. I have a level 44 scrapper (my main) and I must say from lvl 16 onwards I absolutely loved him.

Soloing bosses/EBs/whatever can seem pretty dull however you're slowly but surely gonna kill him, all the fast (although a tad less powerful) damage plus the knockback u can getwill be a great asset. Also if you have a heavy/fast assault playstyle the claws/regen scrapper is even more fun.

My opinion is a tad biased but this is from personal experience.
  13. Like ur work as always Catz, I like how you've caught my character's good side

PS sry about the LATE response to the pic of my scrapper I left CoX for a few months but back now
  14. Just posting here to say that WoW has won my heart over CoX :P
I am cancelling my subscribtion in a few days or so and I don't know if I'll be back, sorry to all my friends I have met on CoX but I felt it was important that I let people noticed that this hero/villain is finally hanging up his cape...
thanks to all those that have made my life on CoX worth living, goodbye...

This is Tac Ops Wolf signing off.

    SS/Fire build

    Umm andy...that...is a tanker...not a brute. Doesn't really help that much with a brute.
  16. Try sacraficing lightning field, sure it's good for fury but notcied those powers are heavy in end and besides your other AoE powers will work just fine without it.
  17. Tac_Ops_Wolf

    Two things...

Thanks for responses guys I think Ill try both out but will probably go SS/invuln for control and simplicity wanna make a villain rival to my scrapper anyway.

  19. ...you make n00bs [censored] about how they want a kheldian without earning it and decide to protest on the eu forums.

Those who have read or/and responded to the thread I pay you entertain will know what I'm on about.
  20. Tac_Ops_Wolf

    Two things...

Okay here's my first question, why do people nowadays say that fire/invuln is a good choice, because when I tried it and got it to late 20s/30s it was complete [censored], WAAAAY too end hungry and fiery melee just wasn't doing ay favours.

Okay while I'm here I just wanted to ask which is better for me, fire/fire or SS/invuln?
I want to be a good soloist, good fury building and decent in pvp, though I'm not hardcre pvper.
  21. In my opinion invulnerability has turned more into a defence based set, the resistence is only good for smashing/lethal 9and maybe toxic) also gotta love the lvl 38 power.
  22. You've got real talent there Catz, keep it up.

By the way did you reciece my screenshots through hotmail?
  23. Tac_Ops_Wolf

    Inv/EM build

Spirit you are a wise one making this a defensive buid, invulnerability is all based on defence nowadays no excuses. The resistence is only godo against smashig/lethal and the other auto powers (apart from resist pysical damage and tough hide) are pants.
  24. Super jump + hurdle from fitness pool provides one of the best travelling experiences ever IMO. Plus you can get acrobatics later and you can get combat jumping along the way which provide resistence to immobilize, hold and knockback (how we all hate knockback) and defence to every type of damage, plus combat jumping + hurdle is about as fast as fly so it gives you some manuverability if you need to run or anything like that.
  25. Tac_Ops_Wolf

    Dom and GM.

Persnally I don't see what the big deal is as with your attacks depending on what powersets you chose you cna od loads of damage and debuffing. For example I am grav/psi atm and not many can resist or defend against psionics (not sure with AVs or GMs) also psi can build up domination fast then whack out thier mind probe, snipe and thier nuke which recharges like every 10 seconds. Also psionics debuffs recharge so that hleps alot aswell.

This is just like asking the role of a stalker when it comes to GMs and AVs now that I think about it...
