By the way, if you're patient then slotting has become much cheaper than ever.
You can use alignment merits to buy recipes on any character and mail the recipes to yourself on your other character.
You can buy salvage the same way, albeit random rolls instead of specific pieces.
AE tickets work great for getting rare salvage as well.
I actually plan on using alignment merits for specific recipes and the, somewhat older, reward merits, that aren't easy enough to get enough to be a good exchange for recipes, for salvage.
That will likely get me slotted out well enough. -
Quote:Oh, that's counter intuitive, but I guess it has to be or the brute would clearly be better than the scrapper, at least until at their caps.Negative. Damage enhancement is additive. If I have 95% damage enhancement in an attack and have 150% damage buff from fury (75% fury bar) then the base damage is multiplied by 1 + 1.5 + .95
Example:
Brute claws swipe
Base: 34.62
With 95% enhancement and no fury: 67.509
With 95% enhancement and 75% fury: 119.439
It is not base*(1+enhancement)*(1+fury) -
Quote:Open the Nvidia Control Panel and go to the advanced graphics settings page.Actually the card has been working fine. The freezing never happens around water. The only real problem area I have is Chimeora and I can lower my shadows setting to play fine there.
There is no one location it only happens in. It's happened in Talos, RWZ, and Atlas once or twice. It has also happened in Praetoria but not so much.
Have not tried to update the driver yet. Working on it now.
How do you check to see if I am trying to run dual monitors?
Scroll down the list and set your display mode to "single display performance".
I would also advise turning off occlusion.
I ebt it's causing issues shadows. -
Quote:Well, the thing about occlusion is that it helps create more realistic shadows, but the shadows setting tries to do the same thing in a different way.Ok so i tested for quite awhile and found that shadows are what seem to be causing the problem, ambient occ does not affect it. Ive turned off advanced shadows and know for sure turning them off altogether will fix it. Perhaps setting the basic shadows to mid may not cause crashing but I'm still finding the bottom setting for graphical quality and stability.
They have a little bit of an issue when they are both trying to work on the same shadows. That can cause big problems, but it may be a bit random as to when. -
I've had the bug happen a few times, but release_pets works for me now that I know of it.
I've also noticed that every time you and the pets zone they will get the upgrade buffs again, but the buff will have a number that grows every time you zone, like another stack of it being put on.
That can't be good and feels related. -
Quote:In Windows 7....Since it sounds like most people who are having problems with this are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, could it be a problem with Aero? I seem to recall some players had previously reported problems with Aero and CoH.
If you want to switch to other programs while running CoH you're best off running in windowed mode or disabling Aero. That should solve that issue as it did for me when I switched to windowed with W7 and a GTX 465.
Now, the black frames(flickering) can be greatly lessened and/or solved by turning off Vsync.
It solved the black frame issue I had anyway with only 2x FSAA and occlusion completely off.
MaximumPC stated, in one of the recent issues, that occlusions and FSAA do nto play well together and shadows doesn't play very well with occlusion either because they both try to do the same thing different ways that end up conflicting.
Turning off either FSAA or occlusion has helped some people already.
Try those solutions. If they don't work then I'm out of ideas right now.
Edit:
I just wish there was a solution for the insane 3k+ ping lag spikes for 30 seconds or so at completely random times. It isn't anything on my end because I have done all I can and made sure I'm the only user at times to make sure it wasn't that issue.
It tends to happen only when the server is empty in the late hours or really early hours. I even have much better stability when the server is full. -
Quote:Actually, the damage enhancers do modify extra fury damage by modifying the damage fury modifies. Also, since brutes don't get as much out of Damage Enhancers as the other classes (since they don't modify extra fury damage) a pre-stamina Brute can safely slot only Accuracy/End Redux into their attacks without significant damage decay, while a Scrapper (and pretty much everyone else) doing the same takes a much greater damage hit.
Fury is a percentage damage buff. So, if you slot your attacks to do double damage then fury at 200% buff will double that double damage to 400% instead of unslotted doubling up to 200%.
That's how percentages work. -
Quote:I would call "using a lot of blues" an endurance problem.I would disagree. If soloing you should never have an endurance problem on a well built SS/SD, stuff dies far too quickly to run out of blue insps.
You can't count on them dropping so best not to coutn on using them when you need them.
I'm betting the person you quoted also doesn't like to have to rely on inspirations either.
I am having no endurance issues on my shield brute, even before stamina. I'm rather shocked by that because all my other toons have had endurance issues.
I can't wait to see what this km/sd brute does later on. -
Hmm
If you can get into options with "\" then "o" you can try changing the mouse cursor setting there.
I'm not really sure how you can change it without having the mouse available though. -
Oops!
I read it, but didn't register the "21 brute" part.
My point about the level and con color being unimportant does stand though. We don't want to give people the wrong idea so they think they have to fight something they don't want to. -
Hmm
Make sure you're using the launcher for the actual game, not a trial account launcher.
I don't know if that is how it works or not, but I would go through your start menu to access the game and see if it works that way. -
If anyone is having problems, maybe try disabling Vertical Sync if you have it on.
That setting is the only one that has ever caused me issues. It caused flickering black frames in Praetoria and actually forced a lower frame rate than my card is capable of.
It may help you to disable it. -
Quote:Glad I remembered that tiny little snippet of information from MaximumPC that helped you.I owe you guys (and this thread) a great deal of thanks! I was really feeling sadness that I was going to be relegated to low-quality graphics any more just to continue playing, despite the nice computer setup.
I just need to decide which I like better, Occlusion or a lack of jaggedy edges -
Quote:I meant that con doesn't matter except in each individual case in game.Maybe not if you're a Brute but if you can't solo and you are 20-22 then the con matters.
When we're trying to help someone here, who we can't tell the level of or has multiple characters at all levels, the best answer is "level 20+ bosses".
They can figure out for themselves what con color is easiest for them.
Are you just trying to "pick a fight" by picking everything apart to the most minute detail?
If all we ever gave were completely character specific answers to a single person with details that don't matter at all attached then nobody would be able to figure out what is the really important piece of information that can help them if they have the same issue.
Answering questions the most generally specific way while still solving the issue helps the most people solve their issues and learn how to solve future issues. -
Hmmm
Just a hunch, but try updating your sound drivers or disabling sound in the game for a while.
I'm out of ideas if that doesn't work. -
If you can't verify the files then there is probably a problem with them or the drive tey are stored on.
That would explain having trouble with windows in game because they probably have to access that part of the drive.
Edit:
Did this happen only in certain parts of the game? like Praetoria?
You seem to have some setting very high for that older video card.
Water quality is a big one. -
So....
Anybody have an opinion about them raising the benefit accruacy and endurance reduction enhancers provide early on?
It would do away with the need for a degrading accuracy buff as you level and ease the problem of not having stamina while encouraging new players to learn more about enhancements and use them.
It would also encourage players to diversify their slotting early on and use those damage or other enhancers they normally don't instead of just loading up on as much accuracy and endurance reduction as possible. -
1) This is your own subjective list as a couple people have made their own suggestions here.
2) They have to ask what the best farming build is if they want to build towards that from the start. They wouldn't know what's great when they just start.
3) They're just looking for a fotm build so maybe everybody should just tell them "whatever build you find best and most fun by playing will be the best farmer for you" so they will learn to play well and maybe figure out a new great farming build people haven't already though of.
Also, if you're sick of answering questions why do you stick around on the forums answering them? -
Quote:Oh, it's the "I don't care so you shouldn't care so you must be a troll" insane logic. The power description says smashing lethal, real numbers says all damage, but that's just a typo. You're getting hung up on a typo and completely ignoring all of the other advice I'm trying to give you.
I'm convinced you're either trolling, or helpless. Hope you figure out a fun build, man.
I never insulted you.
It looks like they changed the tool-tip and info screen recently, but forgot to change the detailed description then. That sucks.
I would expect the detailed description to be what a power is supposed to do.
Anyway, go away Neo.
I don't want your advice at all if all you're goign to do is insult me. -
The only thing I can think of is a problem my Kensington Expert Trackball experienced at times.
It had a "break" in the pattern printed on the ball, so it would not register correctly when that went over the laser.
Essentially, laser mice need a surface with a pattern on it that they can follow. It makes them behave a lot more reliably because they track their position by changes in the surface.
It could possibly also be that the laser or lens in the mouse is loose and shaking around a bit, or maybe interference with another wireless signal.
My first thought was actually dust or crud caught in the laser hole on the mouse, or maybe scratches to the lens down there.
I hope at least some of this helps. -
Try turning off Vsync. I bet it will help.
It will remove the limit on your fps though so use the command /maxfps to set your frame rate tot he max value you want it to reach.
I use /maxfps 60.
You will have to do that every time you load up CoH though as it doesn't stick.
I think this will work because I was seeing black frames in Praetoria when my video card is definitely powerful enough and changing that setting completely fixed my issue while even increasing the fps I get there. -
Look at the info and detailed info of Tough in game.
It is definitely not right.
The detailed info says "11.25% resistance to ALL damage" not just "smashing and lethal".
It is supposed to provide more, and if it isn't then it is misleading and I am very not happy about taking it at all on my energy aura brute.
If it's correct in game now then they probably patched it finally, but it most definitely was not correct a few days ago. -
Quote:Actually, super strength isn't the best unless you can get perma-Rage.But you can't make a SS/SD Scrapper
And scrappers only get +2.5% more damage from the first mob. That's the only diff between Scrap and Brute AaO
Rage debuffs defense severely when Rage crashes, half your defenses about if capped.
Sure, you're likely perm at 50 and slotted, but you have to get there and avoid recharge debuffs.
Super strength also doesn't have that much to keep the enemy from hitting you. It does have knockdown, but no debuffs, little stun and all smashing damage which enemies resist most just like players prepare for.
I'm a fan of super strength too, but it just doesn't seem like the best for farming to me.
I don't know what is the best, but I wouldn't peg SS as it. -
Quote:Well, all sappers wouldn't be as bad. They're not so hard when it's just their powers affectign you. Yes, they drain, but they don't do much damage.Yeah, I think the spawning is borked. It's not consistently bad but, when it's bad, it's REALLY bad. I was doing that mission (solo) and the first ambush had a Sapper. Okay, that's reasonable. The second ambush had a Sapper. That's a little annoying. The third ambush was TWO SAPPERS. All we need next is a mission where every spawn is all Sappers.
They're aggravating alone and infuriating when they have friends. -
Quote:Well, I can't tell his level from a forum post so I logically deduced that you meant everyone has to face white-con bosses or higher. He's 21 not 50 so he can't hunt for lvl 20 gray bosses k. They'd be white.
Either way, the con color of the enemy doesn't matter so it was pointless to bring it up.
