Obligatory:
"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime." -
I rate Nova Praetoria, Imperial City and Neutropolis stories above all else in the game.
They were just cool.
After that....maybe the Alpha Arc, Cimerora, Ouroboros, RWZ, Grandville, the Dark Mirror arcs(clones) in that order. -
Quote:I recommend Brutes.Scrappers, Blasters, and Dominators are probably the easiest to jump in and run with, although all Archetypes (ATs) have the ability to team and solo.
Safer archetypes are better to start with when you do not know the game very well. Tankers are a good one as well. -
Quote:Are you talking about "team mission teleport" or the "peronal-only mission teleport"?That's because it's great. It's a legitimately useful power, and worth every penny I paid for it. I wasn't sold until I saw its recharge was only a half-hour (compared to the three hours of the personal-only version).
I know the latter has a really short recharge. It's also another option for when the team version is down. -
Quote:Yep, I only pvp in FPS and racing games simply because of the mechanics making my own skill the absolute defining factor(when latency is not a factor) and the "practically no consequences" nature to it.I've never been into PvP in any game I've played except first-person shooter-type games.
When there are no consequences, you will get those who take out anybody they can just to try to anger them, but it is hard to take offense at something that doesn't punish you.
Pvp in numbers based games, like this and most MMOs, is just painful to play, even if there are no real consequences. The mechanics just don't make it accessible and balanced even close to as well as FPS and racing games. -
Quote:It wasn't an attempt to solve the issue.Good attempt, but I 'believe' what the OP is looking to find here isn't a settings issue. They're looking at how things are coded and where the system is/isn't letting go of memory. As far as I understand it though, Windows has a nasty habit of not letting ram go at all until the app is fully shutdown. So if these windows are being treated as part of City's main program, then they'll likely never release the memory until you logout.
It was just showing how much more, probably worse(considering the huge popfile is much more uncommon, and not causing an issue in most cases, than the 2 scenarios I gave), bugs the UI has.
It doesn't surprise me that the OP discovered this crash bug because the support people did not even know about the "graphics tab FPS slicing in half" and "options sliders causing severe latency"(which actually accelerate the netgraph's tracking of latency, meaning it move from right to left a LOT faster) bugs until I discovered them.
Most people don't see these strange, but very worrying, bugs because they do not have the same circumstances as those of us who do.
Also, I'm not a hacker(old school meaning), but I do feel a sense of pride in finding out where a system fails, at least if they are willing to fix it. -
Quote:It really isn't quite complete. It's got a couple of issues, and is more of a specific idea using other basic ideas applied other places before(but likely not patented/copyrighted because they're basic).I'm not a patent lawyer, but my understanding of the process is that if it's a technical idea, you should try to get a patent/copyright/whatever ASAP.
Pretty much, when it is ready to be copyrighted/patented will be when it is ready to be what a game design is based around.
I'm trying to improve the way we play games. I want games to play smoother and more reliable than ever, without just throwing a quantum supercomputer and "wormhole internet" at it.
Though, if they ever do prove the existence of wormholes and discover a way to use them then it will most likely be used for communication before any objects are able to travel through. -
I didn't mean to offend anyone, Thirty-Seven(Is your name like the Resistance member 32? Did you get it from doing something memorable 37 times?
), but I did mean to call attention to the fact that people apparently love to ignore all history and future evidence in relation to something so that they can feed their own desire to believe in the extreme(good or bad).
There are people who will believe "that can never be bad" despite evidence to the contrary and those who believe "that has always been bad" despite evidence tot he contrary.
It's funny. People supposedly say "the Loyalists are evil and Resistance are good, no question" about this game, but they don't realize that they are being as inflexible and tyrannical as the supposed "Tyrant" they oppose.
It's like religion. "Everyone else is always wrong."

I believe it delivers you to whatever mission you have selected, yellow or red, and THEN falls to the "first listed" if those conditions are not met.

Quote:The difference with the personal story is the "It's over 9000!" factor of the damage numbers.I was doing that, pulling off smaller groups and killing them ST's and Hand Clap. I'm not sure how many were in the group when I called lightning (because I was getting bored with hand clap) but it couldn't have been 10. It just seems odd that so few dying instantly would cause the problem when I had been using Judgement to kill large spawns of Talons and Tsoo for the fun of it in DA only an hour before.
Those numbers are so high, and on enough enemies, that it just overloads the connection to the server.
Edit:
Also, if the lightning chains like Jolting Chain or the Ion Judgement then you know it just multiplies the spam exponentially.
It's sad that the only advice is "don't use the fun stuff" simply because the game is not made efficiently. -
Quote:Strange.Seeing the problem on mine too.
As an interesting note, the colors are NOT reversed while using Superior Invisibility.
Could that be because of SI making you transparent, thus showing the proper color through to the side it should be on, or because powers that cause translucency are really calling alternate versions of the costume pieces that are translucent?
Very interesting.... -
Quote:Except Katie Douglas and Noble Savage don't recognize you at all, despite doing missions for them in the Warden line.First Ward works best story-wise as a Warden or a Primal Hero - just like all Praetorian content
That's as far as I can tell from running the Warden arcs undercover anyway. -
Hmm, I think Leandro is having the same bug that I have in this thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...68#post4225368
It makes sense. His internet connection mangles the "team is this level" packet which shows that obscenely high level change number. The game can't process that number in the usual equation(dividing by zero type error) and wants to reset him to level 1(actually probably level 0 but that can't be displayed).
The game crashes because of it.
I've had this happen many times, always while teaming and (I think)always with incarnate level shifted leaders. It is also most common in AE.
I definitely would bet that is the same bug I have. -
I don't get it.
(my CoV collector's edition didn't include Statesman, I think and know it was somebody missing,)

Quote:New epic archetype.
New zone massive revamp Co-Op Shadow Shard.
New War Witch TF.
Power pool customization.
Origin pools.
Proliferation.
Psi melee.
More costume sets.
With cherry on top, for next week, thank you. Hurry up, devs!
I certainly would like #1, #2, #4, #5(maybe), #6 and #79about time if it happens). -
Come on!
Somebody post Yoda as he would say "See what you did there, I did.".
I thought this thread would become a huge epic, not just this small epic. -

See my post above. The "task pool" ones are free(Fireball, Trilogy...) while the others(Montague Castanella, The Magician) are not free.

Quote:Doesn't matter because the code now exists. An NPC is not tied to an entire zone, and even if it is they would never need to "rewrite the entire zone" just to add code to remove the NPC under certain circumstances.Adding a new NPC isn't hard. Name one case of an NPC being removed or altered in a zone prior to Going Rogue.
....unless the code for zones is such a mess that NPCs are tied to the zone and they can't search for the proper place to put such a piece of code in all that mess.
Ok, that seems believable. -
Quote:Yep, in more examples than they posted. See my examples. The truth about Calvin Scott was revealed a couple issues ago in the Underground Trial. From the writer's perspective, it happens before the events in First Ward. But from your character's perspective, it hasn't happened yet.
TL;DR sloppy writing and a somewhat ill-conceived notion of enforcing a chronological storyline on a game where each character experiences the story separately -
Quote:I should. I just haven't bothered because I doubted Premiums would even have that option.Click Ironblade's name and select "View Public Profile." Select "User Lists" under his name and put him on your ignore list. Repeat the same for Forbin. Voila, your forum experience is much less stressful for you.
Also, I don't like to ignore people because I may miss something actually useful. I guess I have to if I want sanity. -

Quote:Confirmed by Arbiter Warrant:Fireball, Trilogy, and the two repeatable contacts are available to Preemies without any extra purchase. The others are not.
