Quote:Honestly, I have no idea. But speaking for myself, I know that I would. Don't get me wrong though, Hibernate is a great power to have when you need it. It's just that at level 50 with a fully mature build, that isn't often. And as Infini mentioned, its usefulness is further diminished by the NoPhase timer. But while leveling up, Hibernate can be very handy for those instances when you bite off more than you can chew (especially while PuG'ing).Do you feel that most Tanks (like 90% of them) would trade Hibernate for Icy Bastion?
But to me, Icy Bastion's +recovery, +regeneration, and +resistance are all more appealing since I don't have to be completely immobile and unable to affect others in order to benefit from it. And even Icy Bastion's extra mez protection can be useful for those times that you're up against mobs that use mez powers that you're vulnerable to (e.g. Carnie Illusionists' stacked Blinds *shudder*).
Anyway, if both powers were available to Tankers, I'd try to fit both in. But if I could only choose one, I'd definitely go with Icy Bastion. Hibernate is an awesome panic button, but I could always just craft an Ethereal Shift temp power for that. -
I'd trade my Ice Tanker's Hibernate for Icy Bastion in a heartbeat. *wistful sigh*

Ice is quite nice. Here are some of the high points:
1. Not too difficult to softcap (45%) S/L and E/NE defense with IOs. This is even before firing off Energy Absorption.
2. Trivial to hit the hardcap (90%) for cold damage resistance.
3. One of the few primaries that can reach a Tanker's max hp, thanks to Hoarfrost.
4. The only primary that can be 100% immune to slows (RechargeTime and RunSpeed).
5. Endless endurance if you have enemies around you, thanks to Energy Absorption.
6. Has a decent panic button, i.e. Hibernate.
7. Can stack a lot of -dmg on top of Chilling Embrace's if you use Kinetic Melee, Soul Mastery, Void Judgement, and Paralytic Interface. -
Spines/EA seems promising. With a taunt aura to (hopefully) keep runners to a minimum and an endurance recovery power to allow nonstop fighting, it looks like it'll have to be my next Scrapper project.

Would have preferred Energy Aura (Primary) and Spines (Secondary), but I'll take what I can get. I'm just happy that they're proliferating something.

Good Versus Evil Edition In-Game Item Pack - I use the Jump Pack Prestige Power on my Super Speed toons whenever I need to go vertical, and the Pocket D VIP Card Teleport Power is very handy since the majority of iTrials form there (on Freedom).
Super Booster II: Magic - The Mystic Fortune power is a nice buff to have at the lower levels.
Super Booster IV: Martial Arts - Two words: Ninja Run.
Super Booster V: Mutant - I'm addicted to Secondary Mutation (Quick Reflexes is my favorite buff), but I also keep hoping to be turned into a lil' Rikti monkey. -
Do any of the new Lore Pets have perma-buffs? The Seers Seeker from my Tanker's T4 Lore uses a watered-down version of Fortitude that lasts 30 seconds, but it also recharges in 30 seconds so the Seeker can keep it on me pretty much constantly.

This would be an easy choice for me since I only have two characters (at the moment). I do make alts but if their playstyle doesn't end up suiting my tastes, I delete them without a second thought.
1. (+3) Ice/Fire/Soul Tanker - My main. Also a decent farmer (to help fund alts). When I want to play solo, I can grab this guy and destroy stuff at +4/x8.
2. (+3) Fort/Fort/Soul Arachnos Widow - My teaming toon. Can buff, debuff, mez, contribute damage, and is tough enough to survive team wipes. Very versatile and enjoyable to play when I'm not in the mood to tank. -
-
How about Cold Domination?
- Ice Shield and Glacial Shield (much needed +def for the Elec Armor Brute)
- Frostwork (to help the Brute hit his HP cap)
- Sleet, Heat Loss, and Snow Storm (with a Brute holding aggro and/or herding, you can really leverage these AoE debuffs)
- Infrigidate and Benumb (if you guys fight AVs, these single-target debuffs will be very helpful) -
Quote:Lol, I remember Tanks A Lot. In fact, that was one of the names that I had suggested for the SG back when gorgus was first forming it in '09. Talk about coming full circle. The first Tanker Tuesday Tour on Freedom(2 years ago?) was coordinated with an all Tank SG named "Tanks Alot" so most touring tanks joined them.
I'm actually looking to join an all-Tanker SG. If you guys either revive Tanks A Lot or decide to create TankHQ, let me know. I'll definitely hop on board and help out with earning prestige. -
Yep, you'd have to become a villain and do any one of the Patron Arcs. And you most definitely keep those powers regardless of which alignment you decide to settle on. Personally, I went villain only long enough to do an arc then went right back to heroside.
-
Ice/Fire, excellent choice for your first 50! (Though I'm quite biased, lol.) If you don't mind the extra effort it takes, I highly recommend Soul Mastery as an Epic. You've got great power picks like Gloom, Dark Obliteration, and Darkest Night to choose from, all of which complement Ice's defense nicely.
-
I want an Ice/Spines Tanker (Icicles + Quills). So yeah, Spines for Tankers please.
-
Have you done the alignment/morality missions to take your Tanker from Hero > Vigilante > Villain? Once your Tanker is a villain, you can do one of the Patron Arcs to unlock the villain epic pools. Then when you go to respec, the powers from Soul Mastery will be available to your Tanker.

I'm so used to playing Tankers that I'd want a tanker-lite type of Scrapper. I think that Spines/Invulnerability/Leviathan Mastery would fit the bill.
- Holds aggro well. (taunt aura + damage aura)
- Good survivability. (layered protection + capped hp)
- Decent AoE damage. -
My only toon that has all of the nifty incarnate stuff is my main, an Ice/Fire/Soul Tanker, so my opinions are based solely from its viewpoint.
1. Alpha - As others have already mentioned, the +1 level shift in all content is sweet. And I love the added recharge from Spiritual Core Paragon.
2. Interface - Reactive Radial Flawless + damage aura (Icicles) = so many pretty orange numbers. Plus spamming Fire Sword Circle, Combustion, and Dark Obliteration on top of that is just bananas.
3. Destiny - I pretty much use Barrier Core Epiphany whenever it's up, even when I'm not fighting anything. That's how much I love this power.
4. Judgement - Ion Core Final is crazy-fun to use on x8 missions or on the ITF.
5. Lore - This is the only incarnate power that I didn't bother to get to Tier 4. I stopped at Total Radial Improved Ally and called it a day. -
As mainly a Tanker player, I also went with the Tier 3 Seer Seeker (invulnerable support). I haven't tried any of the other options, but I'm happy enough with the watered-down Fortitude buff that I get. And the Seer Seeker has been good, so far, about recasting it as soon as its duration expires. So for me, the Seeker is nice to have around especially since the Diviner (lieutenant) inevitably ends up dying from AoE splash damage since I'm typically in the middle of x8 spawns for most fights.

I plan to follow the excellent advice given in this post by Zombie Man.

I'm looking to buy a Level 10 Panacea: Chance for +Hit Points/Endurance recipe or enhancement. If anyone's got one to sell, you can contact me in-game at @TBoxer (or just reply to this thread or PM me). Thanks!

Hey, grats to you and your teammates Daranable! I'm not sure if you remember, but you and I have teamed before on an all-Tanker team. Anyway, if you ever put together a +4 all-Tanker ITF, just let me know. I've been itching to join one.
