Going Epic with Ice/Fire
Ice/Fire, excellent choice for your first 50! (Though I'm quite biased, lol.) If you don't mind the extra effort it takes, I highly recommend Soul Mastery as an Epic. You've got great power picks like Gloom, Dark Obliteration, and Darkest Night to choose from, all of which complement Ice's defense nicely.

Can I keep those powers if I become a Hero again?
*edit*
*looks through the powers in Mid's...*
Holy $#*$#(^@(#*..... Um... yeah. That would be awesome...
Yep, you'd have to become a villain and do any one of the Patron Arcs. And you most definitely keep those powers regardless of which alignment you decide to settle on. Personally, I went villain only long enough to do an arc then went right back to heroside.

I know this is probably written down somewhere, but its just so much easier to ask.
If I get the Soul Mastery, become a Hero again, then Respec, will I still be able to choose Soul Mastery?
Another vote for Soul Mastery here - love it on my Ice/DM tank. I usually only bother putting darkest night out if it's a particularly strong psi enemy (e.g. Carnie Master Illusionist), an AV, or there's just an unusually high number of mobs for whatever reason - but when it is out it helps significantly. The Blood Widow helps out the DPS every now and then too (though keeping her alive isn't always easy).
I too went villain just long enough to unlock then came back blue side again, and having respeced just the other day I too can confirm you'll still have access to all patron pools and all hero APP's even once you are fully hero again.

If you build your tank to have higher HP and regen numbers, that -dmg adds up and will allow you to take on foes you thought you were weak against (psi attacks, namely).
SG: Guadians of Paragon - VG: Paragon's Darkness
The Usual Suspects: Fimboolvetr (Icer Tank), Tsukiyomi (Mind/Psi/Ice Dom), Smiting Dragon (Dm/Sr Scrap), Widow Mortis (NW)
Up and Comers: Ameterasu (Km/Reg Scrap), Arrhymian (Elec/Nin Stalk), TDMKII (Bot/Traps MM)
I'll echo a vote for soul mastery, if only for DN. However, it should be noted that the -tohit you'll be getting is heavily resisted by AVs. The -dmg, though, is not, and stacked with CE you get 35% in -dmg. Then if you were to take the Void Radial route for Judgement, you can periodically add another 50% -dmg to those numbers (and more if you go with the interface that provides -dmg).

It's great because unlike resistance, which applies just to you, this applies to every attack from the main target and lots of additional targets in melee range (Icicles and non single target attacks). So your team is protected as well as yourself.
I went villain just long enough to do Black Scorpion's arc and get Soul Mastery then I came all the way back around to Vigilante.
Thanks peeps!
Soul Mastery is awesome!
Nothing like a Build Up->Dark Oblivion->Fire Sword Circle->Combustion->Energy Absorption to start off!
Speaking about Energy Absorption, how do I slot it?
I'm kinda lost...

Granted it is passable without the endmod enhancement, but it pays off when fighting single hard targets. Enhancing the endmod aspect also adds another layer of mitigation via end drain, but that's really only effective when you can get EA back up in under 20 seconds.

I love my Ice/Fire tank
He's currently level 47 and looking to my first level 50 (finally... damn altolohlism)
This will be my first toon to get Epic Power Pools and I'm totally lost...
I'm currently soloing missions at +0x7. Some groups are easy, but I got my but kicked by others. So I'm not sure I should go with a more offencive because dead things don't hurt me, or more defencive so I take on more powerful enemies that have a +toHit which hurts.
I'm only using 3 Power Pools right now, Leaping, Speed, and Fighting so a 4th is an option too.
Not sure what to do, or even think at this point.
