  1. KM/Elec scrapper, stalker, or brute? My best advice is just to get out there in a pvp zone and get your *** kicked until you understand how it works better. Once you grasp the system you can begin tweaking your build into what you think works best for you. There are "general" tips and guides that can help you but it ultimatly comes down to your experience!

It's nice to see some new blood in PvP. Melee can be fun but rough at times when the ranged characters gang up on you. Concentrated Strike on a scrapper is where it's at though for some solid damage. Elec armor is not a bad choice as you can get your resist numbers WAY up there.

If they ran then i never killed them. ELA is nice but fail in my opinion, i fought many ELA's with my scrapper defeated them easily. If i were to run a meat shield i would go with SS/WP or FM/WP brute even KM/WP would do very nicely as a meat bag with considerable amounts of DPS
I dunno about fite club im used to arena pvp and coordinated spike teams in zone. (all of which are rare now). I figure if I can take 2 attacks each from 3 blasters (psy, psy, fire) on my ELA scrapper.. imagine what a tank could do, especially with lots of +max HP. Noob question but has anyone capped max hp on a tank without outside buffs? Isn't it like 3200 now? That's two of my dom lol. Taunt is annoying and useful too.

  4. I try to experiment with other AT's but dominators are truly epic. All my mains are pretty much doms. My ice/fire/ice absolutely tears up everything I love it. Mind/nrg is a lot of fun too. I'm thinking of finishing an elec/elec as my tank experiences are dull.

Make it stop... Too many doms.
  5. The only things I see that I would change is taking one lotg off each defense power. You dont need the hold resist really.. I'd put those slots on stamina and quick recovery for +max hp bonuses from performance shifter.

Maybe a slot off Fast healing for tweaking high pain tolerance or something else. Willpower has enough +recovery already imo.

I would slot Strength of Will but with the bonuses I think you are going for idk.. just my opinions.
  6. I got a dom and blaster I like a lot and have IO'd. I'm bored and just looking for a new project... so I figured I would just make a really annoying and very hard to kill hunk of meat for casual zone pvp and pve. I looked at willpower but rise to the challange seems like it would kill the set as pvp mechanics work against it. If anyone has input on rttc or willpower in general that'd be great.

I had an old elec/elec scrapper I dug up and played around with in RV. Elec armor is nice so that's my other consideration.
  7. Hmmm Thanks. I don't have experience with willpower so im wondering if its strengths of having good +max hp, decent resist and defenses, +percepetion, non crippling T9, and decent regen outside of RTTC is good enough.

I know elec armor is tough...
  8. I'm just wondering if this power still drops if you get mezzed in pvp.

    Also.. Willpower/SS or elec/ss?
  9. ahh I just learned to play that song on bass guitar nice.

I have an elec/elec scrapper I like a lot but I wanted to be more indestructable. So I made a tank and have been inbetween elec armor and willpower.

    SS/Fire Brute?

I would agree with truedarklord... Brutes suck in pvp. Tanks survive better and scrappers/Stalkers do way more damage. Brutes are a kind of low damage half tank. Good luck building fury unless you fiteclub.

Range is the way to go anyways... But hey I have a semi IO'd scrapper for the fun and lulz so knock yourself out. Ss/fire at least has rage and firey embrace to give you some extra damage.
  11. Chance to stun proc in stamina?
  12. Welcome new red names! Ill keep it simple. PvP?
  13. 400 rep should get you a pvp io then reset to 0.

But seriously, either kin or dark would probably your best bet.

-Defense is a terrible attribute to have in a power that requires a tohit check. You also can't do enough -end and -recovery on your own to make a difference, so I'd shy away from that.
Elec/elec/mu saps enemies pretty well actually...

If PvP is really the only thing left for you in this game, it really is time to move on. There is zero reason to wait or hope for anything at this point. Doing so is not only stupid...I would actually call it insane.

That said, the PvE can be fun if you haven't done it for a while. I did only PvP for several years, but now that I've completely given up on it, the PvE is actually pretty fun again. After years of no PvE, it almost feels like a brand new game.

But to reiterate, no, nobody on the dev team is currently working on PvP.
Well said, thanks for the tip. I suppose I'll keep to PvE now.. all the new loot and drops have kept me mildly entertained. I haven't done some of the newer TF's so maybe I'll give em a shot. So yea I give up on new PvP characters, if I ever feel like doing so I'll just jump on my OP dom >
  18. I've created a monster.. muwhahaha.

No but seriously. I think everyone here has valid points and opinions, but nothing is going to change what has been changed. i13 happened. My question still remains, who is in charge now? And what are they going to do about balancing? Whether the community pvp's or not, it is still part of the game and it's obvious the majority of people dislike pvp because of the rules set in place. If I was a developer that would be a red flag to me to invest a little, even just a LITTLE, time into updating the pvp mechanics as it is part of the game.

A list of things people think need to be changed can be found in the pvp section so I won't drag that here. The original question I had was half answered by a few and thank you all for the numbers on Concentrated Strike vs others. Again the question remains, who is in charge of power balancing now and will we see any updates?

In the mean time I suppose I will just make do with thunderstrike and proc the crap out of it.
  19. What exactly are you looking to get out of it? I rolled one to 50 recently and I have to say I've had a LOT of fun. The survivability of elec armor is nice, power sink really makes a difference later on. Power surge lets you tank which is nice. Elec melee is nice because it has a lot of AoE and some good knockdown in thunderstrike. Lightning rod will pretty much one shot the minions and usually lts. The end drain is viable, especially with power sink. Sapping doesn't work as well on EBs/AV's though.

Elec melee is kind of gimp in pvp.

I suspect the power is not broken, based on the rules they use.
Power recharge is thrown into that calculation too huh? I forgot about that.. This power just happens to be tailored right to the damage forumla so I suppose it makes sense. It still needs looking at in my opinion. The power hits for more than a Stalker's Assassin's Strike and you don't need to build up, or be in hide. Plus you can get the recharge down from 20s to 9s or less im sure.

Shortly after that came Issue 6 and City of Villains and zone PvP, and a small percentage of the playerbase DID care about PvP because they liked it, and an even smaller (but more vocal) percentage whined because new PvP players "got totally pwned" against more experienced PvP players with bigger bankrolls who could afford SO's.
Just... No. Super powered beings fight all the time for fun and for seriousness. I am not a vocal 13 year old wanting to gank my buddy for bragging rights but okay. People like PvP in this game because it is actually a lot of fun if you can get around the un-loved neglect the devs have given it. And just so you know, the more time and money you invest in your character, yes I think you should be able to do better than just an SO'd character. That's just the nature of things.

Uh, hello? It's an MMO, not an FPS, and MMO's traditionally DO favor players that stick around for months and years at a time. If people want a level playing field for PvP, they should probably pick a game that's created around PvP, not a PvE game where it's an afterthought. Eventually, with the introduction of the IO system in Issue 9, the chasm between "haves" and "have nots" grew even wider, so....
What does an FPS have to do with anything? The best MMO's out there have solid PvP IMO. I only ever played WoW because there was something to do with my character, battle it with other players. I don't think pvp is as much as an afterthought as you all think. We got arena introduced, pvp zones, pvp ios, various balance changes throughout issues, i13 overhaul, pvp io's, pvp badges, etc.

Then the devs completely, uh, "reconfigured" PvP in Issue 13 (?) to make it "more n00b friendly". This had the unintended side effect of alienating pretty much the ENTIRE old PvP playerbase (who were still certainly a minority compared to the "mostly PvE" players), as well as driving away a lot of experienced PvE players who might have dabbled from time to time with "old PvP" but had little desire to relearn the new revised system. Then they "broke" base raiding and probably drove away any supergroup-centric PvPers as well.
You know, as much as I liked my overpowered pre-i13 character builds... pre i13 was pretty unbalanced and "broken" in a few regards. The new system isn't bad, it just needs some tweaks.

Maybe the quote should really read "No one cares about PvP except the 38 people who read the PvP Forum, where this topic probably belongs anyhow." This is the scrapper forum, where everybody's trying to solo AV's and pylons. Some days, I'm surprised nobody with superspeed has tried to solo multiple pylons at once, and yet I'm still half expecting to see the video turn up where they DID!
I care about PvP and I am pretty sure there are more than 38 people who do too. I see loads of different people in zones nightly. More people would care if the PvE population wasn't so sissy and afraid to die, and the devs tweaked the system in place and added better incintives. I.E. Trading reputation in for IO's or something.

Better yet, I'm waiting for the 300 parody:

    Close-up, Incredible Man: "This is...madness!"

Cut to close-up, Psychotic Scrapper: "This is -- THE SCRAPPER FORUM!"

Cut to over-the-shoulder shot of Psychotic Scrapper Crane Kicking Incredible Man backwards 200' into pylon, whereupon a HUGE swarm of missiles promptly turn Incredible into a grease spot. Brightly colored spandex tatters drift in the breeze.
I don't know what all this is, but yes this is the scrapper forum. I think we are all aware of that. I'm pretty sure I asked a scrapper question too. I can't tell if you are trying to mock me or what is going on here.

I did not know Castle moved on, my apologies.

If you look at the numbers (PvP), Thunderstrike does similar damage to Head Splitter, Golden Dragonfly, Eagle's Claw etc. They are all completely trumped by CS. That's my point. Is ANYONE looking at PvP numbers on the coh team? That's all I want to know. PvP is what keeps me playing this game and if no one is looking at it anymore then.. there's not much of a reason for me to keep playing.
  23. I've always played ranged AT's for pvp, and decided to roll a scrapper for fun. I made an elec/elec and have been collecting some numbers. Thunderstrike has an activation time for 3.3 seconds, and WITH build up I can crit a dominator w no armor for around 450 damage. Thunderstrike never knocks anyone down due to everyone having acrobatics or armor. OK.

Concentrated strike has an animation time of 2.83, and with no build up or crits needed can hit for 700 AND stun on the same dominator with no armor. Can we get some input on this Castle? Is this a bug? Or just bad design? So elec melee's hardest hitting attack is longer, has to crit, AND be used within the 10 second window frame of build up to do a fraction of what CS does?

Is there anyone else working on the balancing of powers in this game? If you guys need help I will send you my resume. Mountian View sounds nice.
  24. I'm rolling a rad/sonic defender I'll let you know how it goes? lol
