Except that Twiglet Grasp won't take Mr. Stompy (Assault Bot) from a tiny sliver of health to 100% in one shot.
[/ QUOTE ]
Anyone playing Bots/Dark shouldn't ever really be in that position in a PvE situation. If that ever does happen there are far better things that a /Dark to be doing than playing heelzor; in any event, there's no need to take your ABot to 100% health as long as he's still standing.
"Twiglet Grasp"? jeje duder AWESOME satirez
It's arguably the best heal in the game. By the same token: Repair won't heal all your robots in one shot - and I'd far rather keep Bodyguard up and running and a full complement of Drone AoE Laser-Doom and ProtBot support, than have 1 (one) robot on 100% health.
[ QUOTE ]
Neither will Twiglet Grasp kick enough endurance into Stompy to unload a pack of incendiary swarm missiles at that Malta Sapper and his close personal friends that have taken an unhealthy interest in you and your minions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, Bots/Dark is in the enviable position of being able to walk through Sappers - I have less trouble with Malta on Anti than I do on my /SR Scrapper.
[ QUOTE ]
Or use to to keep one of your Protector Bots kicking, since they seem to heal other bots in preference to healing each other.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or use Twilight Grasp, which is a far better use of endurance. Hell, you could use Repair on the Corruptor standing next to you because ololz ur repared, but it still doesn't mean it's worth taking for a Bots/Dark.
[ QUOTE ]
It is NOT useless. And saying that someone has no need of it just because they're /dark is a tad on the broad sweeping statement side of things.
[/ QUOTE ]
I never said it was useless - I said it was unnecessary for a Bots/Dark. I've had it, I respecced it out - because I never used it from one week to the next in either normal PvE, vs GMs and AVs, or in PvP. This post was made by someone asking advice for Robotics/Dark Miasma - this post is not HAY GUYZ REPAIR SUX AMIRITE???, you do not need to come in and try to convert us all as a Repair-lovin', AoE heal-less Bots/Trappist, so plz2take your proselytising somewhere else kthx.
Discussion is that much easier and so much more rewarding when you stop putting words into other people's mouths, isn't it? -

over half the level 50 defenders on Union are empathy and a good proportion of the controllers
[/ QUOTE ]
Even more amazingly, of all the Empathy/* and */Empathy players that I've teamed with over the last 2 years or so, I can count on one hand the number who've actually made me glad they were on the team, and impressed me with their level of contribution. -
I never said I took you down without assistance, just that I took you out - such is the nature of a FFA. And what we actually said was that we figured we had more of a chance of eliminating each other at that point than either of us did against you; given I had one BF left, it was a wise gambit on my part.
Both the scrapper and I taken you to one-shot territory a number of times previously, so you've not got much to crow about - you didn't even manage to mez me, let alone put any real damage on me.We'd also been active and fighting for the duration of the match - instead of coming in at the final bell after hiding in Sup Invis until most threats had been eliminated.

I was thinking of making a SG to collect all the straggling PVPers
[/ QUOTE ]
Already been collected by the Swords (with occasional appearances in PD colours). -
Just one thing - I'd switch the order so that you pick up GIS at 38 and BIB at 41, as GIS is your big toggle-dropper; Imps are too useful to drop to 41 IMO.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Theres only 1 Union PvP'er thats moved to Defiant as far as im aware...
[/ QUOTE ]
Not quite, KS - some of us have been straddling the two servers for years. -
[ QUOTE ]
Great, rolling something on test for the 6-11 right now
[/ QUOTE ]
Regarding the 6-11 - I take it anything over 11 will be able to be exemped down, right?
Or is 11 the max level for entrants? -
I'm pretty sure that Freaks/LoUD will try to field entrants in at least some of the events.
I'm also presuming Union or Test Server as venue.
Given the number of events going on, would it not be wise to start a touch earlier? With the usual organisational delays, I can see this dragging into the wee small hours - not a problem for some of us, but could be for others? -
[ QUOTE ]
the other two pets, do they have anything going for them?
[/ QUOTE ]
The Toxic Tarantula does purely Toxic damage (clue is in the name) with DoT ticks from range and melee, and I'm pretty sure the melee damage it does is fairly hefty. It's also pretty resilient, as well as spewing the -Fly Web. I think the Coralax has a couple of cone attacks as well as the Shiver-esque cone - not massively useful, but could provide either some synergy with certain sets.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Also, I have Twilight Grasp which is an aweome heal.
[/ QUOTE ]
You have no need of Repair. -
[ QUOTE ]
Healing flames has however significantly altered the fundamentals of the FA set.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? I always played my /Fire Brute with heavy reliance on HF (having not taken Tough, unlike a lot of */Fire Brutes and Fire/* Tanks), all the changes have done is made my playstyle much more viable.
It's probably more a playstyle shift for (most) Tankers than (most) Brutes, I'd imagine; charging through mobs without stopping and healing frequently has always reaped more benefits for Brutes, after all. -
Seeing as I can solo Heavies with my MM and my Brute under enemy fire (and frequently do for chuckles), I'm not sure where the problem is.
Question is, why weren't you able to take down the Tank in that time? -
[ QUOTE ]
How well can /Kin solo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty well, just remember to pack BFs.Also, knockback is a [censored] - you'll want something to counter it...
[ QUOTE ]
i'll grab Hasten/SS and have Inertial Reduction for the verticle travel.
[/ QUOTE ]
... which at least means grabbing Hover, which works well with Siphon Speed. If you can afford the power-choices, grabbing the Leaping pool up to Acrobatics is a solid idea. -
For me, my Fire/Kin really didn't take off as I'd hoped until after Transference, and I could unleash constant carnage - since then, I've really enjoyed playing her.
Oddly enough, the best teaming I've done with her is when alongside an Ice/Dark Corr.
Whilst Fire/Dark would have a nice mix of control and AoE damage, I think you'd have to pull back on the reins that much more and/or slot heavily for End Reduction. If you're comfortable with a more sedentary, controlled pace then go with Fire/Dark; if you want a breakneck teetering on the edge of life and death playstyle, Fire/Kin might be more rewarding. -
[ QUOTE ]
Good to see fire armour is truely useful in spite of a truely useless power in the set (burn) and a lack of a tier 9 uber power.
[/ QUOTE ]
As it happens, Burn saved me a couple of times - with all the Spines flying about, I would have quickly lost full mobility without the Immob protection it affords. As it was, a quick slap of Burn, and away I went.I was also half tempted to get full Fury and start sitting Globo in Burn patches, but then he left...
Of course, it'd be great if Immob res was added to the shields, but you take what you can get.
As far as Tier 9 uber powers go, I was really feeling the lack of them in the last duel, after my opponent variously hit IH, then DP, then MoG, then IH, then DP... it seemed neverending. At the same time, Full Fury + Fiery Embrace + Build Up + TF + ET is a whole lot of hurt for any AT to withstand, so you have to have the balance somewhere. -
[ QUOTE ]
fire brutes are pretty much regen brutes now
[/ QUOTE ]
... albeit without Integration, Instant Healing, and Dull Pain. -
[ QUOTE ]
And its about time you won something syn
[/ QUOTE ]
Figured it was time for the master to let rip with full steam this time, of course.
[ QUOTE ]
Any reason you used the brute instead of the mm?
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't bring a knife to a gunfight.
Solo FFAs are no place for an MM, really. Key to my tactics was movement, which my Brute does far more effectively than my MM could - being caught on the floor flat-footed was, as many squishies found out, certain doom. Secondly, having a natural resistance to mezzes was invaluable, and assuming I wouldn't have dropped in 30 seconds on my MM, I've had run out of BFs pretty swiftly in - having Plasma Shield + Acrobatics saved my [censored] more than once. Actually, I was surprised that I didn't get hard-controlled once but them's the breaks.
On a one-v-one, or a group PvP situation with support, I'd have taken Anti; doubtless, the last fight against Midnight would have been over far more swiftly with a change on personnel on my side. That said, I had a lot of fun and managed to take out a skilled regen who had more than a handful of panic buttons at his disposal, using only Healing Flames and careful Fury-building - no mean feat.

Picture 2
[/ QUOTE ]
You caught my good side.
For anyone interested in the full results: Rankings 1-20. IIRC, I took down: Awn, Sweet Chilli, White Knight (self-rezzed), White Knight again, Satanic Flash, then Midnight Thunder - after a titanic battle armed only with Healing Flames. :P
FYI, Charger Charley is a TL42 EM/Fire Brute (without any PPP powers).

[ QUOTE ]
There was a guide about dominators in general and it had some advice I didnt agree with. Among other things, it essentially said that "get AOE hold asap"
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong guide.
Try Hambone's Guide to Dominator Zone PvP instead. -
[ QUOTE ]
In PvP if you fight a non-AR Blaster and use it, you will likely die.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just to point out that an AR Blaster using Ignite can and will reliably cause damage to a Regen in MoG; lest we not forget, Ignite has extremely high accuracy and fast ticks of damage.
Nostalgia Bonus Round: During the S4 competition, Knight Stalker's Spines/Regen (who knew it would become so popular?) remained unbeaten (back when Regen was ridiculous) until he got held (through unnerfed mez protection) and felt the full wrath of stacked Ignite patches from my AR/Dev... the more you know.Pity he didn't keel over until after the buzzer went, but you can't have it all.

[ QUOTE ]
Parry ftw its your best friend until SOs and means you can out tank tanks from lvl 8
[/ QUOTE ]
You might be able to outlast Tanks with Parry (wholly depending on mobs you're facing, I might add), but you won't be able to outtank them without dipping into the Presence Pool. There's a big difference. -
[ QUOTE ]
Monday 7pm Pocket D arena or Galaxy Arena? UK time
[/ QUOTE ]
Make it Pocket D @2000 GMT, I might occasionally bring my bad self down for some MM-style [censored]-whoopings. -
I'm really not sure what you're trying to achieve with this build - it's definitely not Sirens-spec, and there's a lack of damage all-round at the expense of over-commitment on both suppressed and unsuppressed movement, IMO.
What are you aiming for? -
[ QUOTE ]
It'd be nice if they do, but TBH it's very unlikely.
[/ QUOTE ]
As far as the Citadel TF goes, it's not really vital anyway - you can take the uber-pooches down with little difficulty, so long as you have a team that knows its Gluteus maximus from its Articulatio cubiti.
