For anyone interested in the full results: Rankings 1-20. IIRC, I took down: Awn, Sweet Chilli, White Knight (self-rezzed), White Knight again, Satanic Flash, then Midnight Thunder - after a titanic battle armed only with Healing Flames. :P
FYI, Charger Charley is a TL42 EM/Fire Brute (without any PPP powers 
).

Don't bring a knife to a gunfight.
Solo FFAs are no place for an MM, really. Key to my tactics was movement, which my Brute does far more effectively than my MM could - being caught on the floor flat-footed was, as many squishies found out, certain doom. Secondly, having a natural resistance to mezzes was invaluable, and assuming I wouldn't have dropped in 30 seconds on my MM, I've had run out of BFs pretty swiftly in - having Plasma Shield + Acrobatics saved my [censored] more than once. Actually, I was surprised that I didn't get hard-controlled once but them's the breaks.
On a one-v-one, or a group PvP situation with support, I'd have taken Anti; doubtless, the last fight against Midnight would have been over far more swiftly with a change on personnel on my side. That said, I had a lot of fun and managed to take out a skilled regen who had more than a handful of panic buttons at his disposal, using only Healing Flames and careful Fury-building - no mean feat.

Asraf to Charles for winning that. I was surprised to find that Midnight Thunder waxed "super robot monkeys" (ice/ice griefer tank), "Globo" (Stone/Axe griefer tank) left after he realised he didn't have the stamina to bore everyone to death. After Sweet Chilli bit the dust, there wasn't much point in sticking around. ;D
ALmost makes me wish I'd entered now hehe, but then again to futher extend on syn's choice of phrase me entering pvp these days would be like bringing the original flint knife to a tactical nuculear strike I just wouldnt cut it hehe.
Good to see fire armour is truely useful in spite of a truely useless power in the set (burn) and a lack of a tier 9 uber power.
Kind of wish I had entered but after spending 3 hours+ getting double teamed on the last ffa i entered i figured I would give ffa a wide berth for a while

As it happens, Burn saved me a couple of times - with all the Spines flying about, I would have quickly lost full mobility without the Immob protection it affords. As it was, a quick slap of Burn, and away I went. I was also half tempted to get full Fury and start sitting Globo in Burn patches, but then he left...
Of course, it'd be great if Immob res was added to the shields, but you take what you can get.
As far as Tier 9 uber powers go, I was really feeling the lack of them in the last duel, after my opponent variously hit IH, then DP, then MoG, then IH, then DP... it seemed neverending. At the same time, Full Fury + Fiery Embrace + Build Up + TF + ET is a whole lot of hurt for any AT to withstand, so you have to have the balance somewhere.

I just have to ask.. why did the fight take 97 minutes? ^^
Aha, i was waiting for that question. When i se up the event i didnt want to take any of the powers effects away, due to a large number of squishies that entered. It dawned on me half way in though that perhaps that was a bad idea. as it happened we all decided to not use self rezzes because theres a good chance we would still be going now otherwise. After the initial bundle at the beginning (which saw my fire nrg tanker getting torn apart ) there was a lot of flying and bouncing around, i do suspect a bit of teaming but thats neither here nor there really.
The trollers were stealthed and holding people but instead of attcking the person held everyone chased the troller that popped up beside them etc.
\\i think had i taken travel and stealth powers away it would have been quicker, however i think it would have been unfair on the trollers and blasters that came along.
As for Globo, im not sure what he was doing there tbh, he just kind of stood there and moaned about being bored a lot and then left

Where in the rules did it say u werent allowed to bore people?
This event was fun, should had take my brute for this to avoid the ganking my blaster got killed by, but it still was a very good and fun idea
I was really surprised my completely PvE specced toon lasted that long in the battle. Of course MA/Regen with Focused Accuracy and attacks slotted for recharge is quite viable but I was severely lacking in mobility (I had Flight (1x flightspeed), swift (1x flightspeed), sprint (1x runspeed)).
In the end Charleys mobility proved to be my undoing, he could dance around me and give me no chances to defeat him. On the other hand I had flight so I could have ran away every time I was in danger.
So I decided to get into a slugging match that he thought he could win and hope for lucky crit or two. If I hadn't done that, the match would have gone on for ages and probably ended at some point when I'd have made an error.
I never knew chasing various trollers for over an hour with having flight on, the troller on follow and Eagles Claw queued up would be that much fun so thanks Thundorn for organising the event.

But you did not take me down on your own you had to gang up with the scrapper before you had a chance! And you and he both said you did that because you thought you would lose >:]
I never said I took you down without assistance, just that I took you out - such is the nature of a FFA. And what we actually said was that we figured we had more of a chance of eliminating each other at that point than either of us did against you; given I had one BF left, it was a wise gambit on my part.
Both the scrapper and I taken you to one-shot territory a number of times previously, so you've not got much to crow about - you didn't even manage to mez me, let alone put any real damage on me. We'd also been active and fighting for the duration of the match - instead of coming in at the final bell after hiding in Sup Invis until most threats had been eliminated.

Certainly the first thing I would do in an arena event...is go and have my dinner...

You were away long enough to be the last squishy alive. I was pleased with myself thinking I was the last then you reappeared and I thought [censored]! I talked with Globey before the event and he said he would bring his stone tank for a laugh and I would bring my ill/kin. ( fly and invis till a few left) But I thought it would be boreing. Never thought of going afk for dinner
