    Flippers exist.

People ignorant of flipping will blame them for all market woes.

The devs will not do anything to stop flipping.

I will continue to point and laugh as people seethe over the magiks the flippers cast upon the market.

End result? Anti-flippers spin their wheels in frustration entertaining those who either are flippers or at the very least not anti-flipping.

    Carry on.

    I liked it.

As for what the movie should do I would recommend they simply jump to a story and if they want to show his origin do it in the credits or in a quick narration.

I really liked the novel "Last Son of Krypton" from 1985 not the animated film from 1996. It would take some work to make it a good movie but it has the elements to make for an interesting movie.

That to me is evidence of a flipper/crafter in an odd place.

Salvage has always been flipped, but I think more people are in on the recipe game now.

I was referring to both markets, I operated in both and while there were some differences between them, the patterns were broadly similar.

I think the market has become more cut-throat with the merger, with the same number of people chasing half as many niches. Some would have been chasing them both sides, but others would have mainly oprated on one, so the competition will hav increased.
I do not mean to offend but I find it difficult to believe your research was unbiased towards a finding plus there is no way without developer access to information you can know what is actually going on in a blind market.

The anti-flippers group sound like a witch hunt to me. Anything you guys don't like going on in the market is blamed on the flippers' black magiks.

How do you know there were ever fewer flippers/crafters? Lower population does not mean that subpopulation had to change at all.

Also WHICH market do you refer to with those 18 months? We used to have 2 now we have 1. I would also point out the current environment is heavily tilted towards 1-20 with Praetoria in high demand and at other times people were in MA getting PLed madly to the top.

I seem to recall common arcane salvage prices were much higher then. Luck Charms seem to be much lower now than they were in the blue market for years.

Do you see that people claim flippers at work only in the areas they are looking at? Is it even believable that it is all flippers versus supply and demand with the flippers swimming where the fish are?
  5. 'Goat, your sig image while entertaining is bugging me!

I'll have to get it re-done in real Russian or I may go Rasputin.

They're (we're) even lazier than you are.

I have billions of inf that only is useful to amuse me in the game. What do I care if I could save a million or 10 million inf?

Now when you're talking about purples I am not that rich yet but someday I will be in the same mindset on those. Currently anything under 10 million is close enough to 0 for me.

The only reason I don't pay more for those things in real life is that is real money. In game money is play money.
  9. I believe this is WAI or at the very least is an oversight that is not covered in any documentation by NC that I can recall since it is technically different from earning/getting one from the mission.

Much like the ability to use The Crucible and Fort Trident is possible by people without GR since they cannot change from villain or hero to another alignment.

A long while ago, but not in the real early days of the market, I IOd out a reasonably high end Kat/SR for 6M. I was bidding on most of the recipes across several toons from when that toon started. Even allowing for inflation, the equivalent would be much more difficult to do nowadays because of flippers.

Flippers also do not list for less than anybody is prepared to list for, they list for less than most people are willing to list for, if 6 a day sell at a given price, they're not too worried if a couple of non flippers sell another one or two in the meantime because they put them up for less.
Well then those bidders were bidding too low, weren't they?

These indisputable facts undermine all character assassinations aimed at the kindly, helpful flipper.

The flipper provides a twofold good- paying sellers the highest price going and listing for the lowest price available.

Truly, the Flipper is a Hero of the Markets.
Since I tend to sell it now and buy it now, flippers are my buyers and my sellers.

How can anyone be mad at those cute dolphins? Or are they porpoises?

Also, regarding supply, bidding low on something and getting it is taking supply out of the market. You just deprived someone else of getting the item for that price who intended to use it. Then you relist it out of their price range. How is that keeping prices low?
How can anyone buy out the entire inventory plus all incoming commons?

No one can control supply. New stuff will keep coming in. You guys keep making the same mistake of acting like there are a finite number of things for sale all the time. There is quite the opposite. Always an increasing amount of items generated by drops coming into the market.

This isn't real life where the manufacturers can lock down incoming supply. It is an MMO where killing a critter creates drops out of thin air.

Flipping salvage is possible in this game. Flipping anything and controlling it enough to price fix is not. Its just not feasible. You cannot control any 1 item with enough force to make it stay that way. Period. Ever! I wish there was, cause I'm super lazy and that would work well for me, but there is not.

Artificially limiting low cost availability of an item by creating a high cost inventory only the "now" purchasers can access.

If you have another reason for high prices combined with high volume, I'm all ears. Or, other methods of flipping (you can just link if you know of some thing).

Then answer my question. Who paid 50k for my Alchemical Silvers when I listed them for 11? Not 11k. 11.

Reason for high prices? Demand. If it were just flippers anything and everything would be pushed up not just the most relatively valuable items.

The drop rate for Alchemical Silver is identical to any of the other 5 arcane commons why is it the highest? It is used in the more useful recipes. This increases its demand. That increases its price.

Your fictional scenario is not what a flipper does. Like all conspiracy theories it works in the theorist's mind only. If the flippers are listing them at 60k who are they selling to when mine sell immediately for 50k?

But this trend jumped the market merge. Sell your BS to some one who's buying.
Perhaps if you gave an example of what you think a flipper does we could point out why you are arriving at the incorrect conclusion?

All I can tell you is in order for a flipper to profit he has to sell it for more than it will cost him including fees plus it has to be worth it in either time to flip or profit per market slot.

Using your example of Alchemical Silver:
Last night I placed my 2 AlSil drops on the market and they instantly sold (as I desired by where I put my list price) for 50k each.

Now do you believe the flippers are buying it at 50k and relisting it at 50k or even 60k and waiting for a sale? Or is it more likely someone who is not a flipper put out their max price willing to pay of 50k and were waiting for someone like me to list it lower than that so they could buy it?

Now if you really believe it went to a flipper at 50k that flipper is either a flipping idiot or just likes to get rid of his inf. A smart flipper would likely have bids out in the 1-19k range and relist at 41-45k range (for example he might list it at 45,003 to not get plucked by a 45k bid and count on someone not bid creeping and just bidding 50k).

    Very vocal fringe cases...

But that is exactly why I am going to have many characters sit on the new alignment merits so when one of my characters wants X if it isn't for sale I can go get one. Now!

If it was kept in chronological bid order there would be those who would complain that evil marketeer types would scoop up the stuff first by getting their bids in first.

There is an argument to be made that the random method is also fair because it does not favor any bidder over another.

    Merit questions

You take your 50 reward merits to the hero base, Fort Trident, or the villain base, The Crucible. Fort Trident's entrance is in Atlas Park and The Crucible's entrance is in Cap Au Diable. You can find each on the maps.

In Fort Trident a hero sees the box on the floor next to BOTLER. In The Crucible villains see the Trashcan. No I am not kidding.

A hero or villain can exchange 50 reward merits and 20 million inf for 1 hero/villain merit per day.
