Merit questions

Ok, I get 50 merits for doing my hero alignment mission.

Who exactly do I go to see and turn them into 1 A merit?

I know it cost 20 million influence as well. Why should I do this?
I can only roll for random recipes with merits? I guess with 250 or so (which i'll never accumulate) I can straight up buy good ones, like LotG recharge, etc? Otherwise, I'm just rolling the dice and hoping to get lucky, is that correct?

With the A merits, I cant find any vendor who offers to convert regular merits. What does one measly A merit buy you?

Im confused on this, because by farming the AE, I can use AE tickets for random rolls too, which is what I am doing on my farm toon. I recently got the 50 merit reward though, and don't want to waste them.

Any clarification would be welcome.

PS - The next time you run your morailty mission, it should reward you with a single hero merit which you can redeem for certain IO set recipes..

You take your 50 reward merits to the hero base, Fort Trident, or the villain base, The Crucible. Fort Trident's entrance is in Atlas Park and The Crucible's entrance is in Cap Au Diable. You can find each on the maps.

In Fort Trident a hero sees the box on the floor next to BOTLER. In The Crucible villains see the Trashcan. No I am not kidding.

A hero or villain can exchange 50 reward merits and 20 million inf for 1 hero/villain merit per day.

Basically - 2 Alignment Merits gets you a recipe of your choice (as opposed to 100-250ish reward merits)
1 AMerit gets you a random 5 recipes. basically, all the random rolling you could do with 100 merits? convert the merits to AMerits, and the result is twice as many recipes. And you have a better chance of getting something that you can market to recoup the 40mil inf cost of conversion.

Also purchaseable are Purple and PvP recipes (8 and 25-35 AMerits respectively, I believe).
