  1. It's an awesome proc, but you put it in just about the worst possible power to have it in.
  2. From what I understand, they don't have to stay in the exact same spot. They just need to be within a few feet of the spawn point. So if they move a few feet, it's ok.
  3. Rad debuffs defense. As a blaster, you should already not have any problems hitting stuff, so the debuff is mostly useless. Actually, most players out there don't have any problems hitting stuff, so you wouldn't be helping them much either.

Sonic is the one blaster set that does significant debuffs, because it's -res, which always helps.

Rad/fire may be an interesting "melee AoE" build if you're set on rad.

The taunt aspect isn't. The -range part is autohit still.
  5. For primaries I'd do fire or archery, as those have the most AoE damage combined with great ST damage.

For secondary, you could really do anything, as long as it's not devices. The best are probably fire, EM, or elec.

My fire/EM blaster was my main for many years, until recently when my fire/SS tank took that spot.

Wow, thanks for the info! That's definitely good to know.

Are we sure that this affects only rewards, and not IXP? I am currently going through the process on my second toon, after doing so on my main. And while I haven't noticed any difference in the randomness of the rewards, I seem to definitely be getting less IXP.

On my main, unlocking the slots was something I didn't even pay attention to. I just did the trials, and the slots got unlocked looooong before I had anything to put in them. Literally they were unlocked in the first day or 2, and then I spent a good week working on slotting them.

But now, I'm only like 50% into my lore, only like 15% into my destiny. Ironically, I have all my tier 3's already crafted. I'm sure I can get my tier 4's crafted before I even unlock the slots. Is this normal? It's completely different from my experience last week on my main, so I'm not sure how to explain it.
  7. I would go with the fire/fire blaster or the brute. The blaster can become really powerful, but it will take a big investment to get him to the defense softcap. The brute can be pretty good with just SO's.
  8. The drops are based on a random number generator. That means they are random. There is no conspiracy against MM's.
  9. Well, I ended up going with the seers again. Guess I'll save the Victoria for a buffer toon.
  10. I got the seers on my main, which is a tank. Now I'm working on my fire blaster, and I'd prefer to get something different this time. Any suggestions? If nobody convinces me otherwise, I suppose I'll go for the Victoria, since I hear it does the most damage.

    Here's my logic...

The +HP only helps once. It gives you the extra HP at the beginning, and then you get nothing else. So if you use the power and then get hit, you're back at nothing. Also it's only +78 HP for most of the duration. That is fairly meaningless.

Meanwhile the regen helps for the entire duration. If you get hit, it helps you heal back to full. So it's not so much a one time deal, but rather a full duration power. Plus the benefit is just bigger. It's 200% regen at the very least, which is actually very noticeable.

Lastly, you have to keep in mine the hardcaps on HP. A lot of people out there have invested lots of inf in their toons, and one of the main things people build for is +HP. Quite a lot of serious players are at their HP cap, or very close to it. So for them the +HP buff would be a waste. Meanwhile there's no such thing as a regen cap, or at least not one that you can realistically get to. So the +regen will help absolutely everybody around you.

I could think of literally only one situation where the +HP would help more than the +regen: when you are hit with some extreme -regen. Having extra HP would help more than just regen, because the regen would be debuffed to nothing, and the HP would at least have some benefit. But that's such a rare case, I went with the more commonly useful power.

    Hope that helps.
  12. Nobody knows the truth, and the devs have not made any comments. I'm sure they are aware of it, since it's been a known issue for a while.
  13. WM isn't the best, but it's probably not the worst either. I never played one, but I heard its strong point is its cone AoE's. Might be somewhat lacking in ST damage.

Overall your limitations will be mostly from your primary. Your main (in some cases only) job is to hold aggro and not die, with any damage you do being secondary. So like any tank, your limitations will be based on how well you survive. And Elec is a good primary.

That's really the key, and I wish there were more people like you. My tank almost always gets the most attention, I assume because I'm outdamaging other tanks, because I rarely use taunt. And about 95% of the time, I end up being sequestered, because nobody on the league takes the aggro from me. If the trials hadn't become so easy already, I would probably try harder to communicate this to people, but in the end it really doesn't matter. These days you almost have to try to fail a BAF.

I usually keep attacking the AV's when I get 2 rings, but I start kiting with CJ. This way when I do eventually get sequestered, it's somewhere away from the AV's and other players.

I initially tried the +HP, getting to tier 3 on that. But the +regen is definitely better in my opinion, so I went with that for tier 4.

Nope. Unless the in-game details are wrong.
  17. I'm a lot like you xinner. I would rather be the most important person on the team than the least important, even if the latter would mean tons more XP for me.

That said, I have not had any problems standing out. I guess it depends on your AT. My main is a tank, and it's not that hard to stand out. I am usually the most aggressive tank, so I'm the one jumping into spawns first. I'm also usually the one pulling the AV's in BAF. Stuff like that makes you stand out, even if there are other tankers on the team. Of course, the actions of others can help too. If another tank tries to pull the AV and gets 2 shotted, and then you go and pull him without any problems, you look pretty good

Another way of standing out is to be a buffer on a team without many buffs. In fact, that's probably the easiest way of feeling special. For example, take a team of 15 damage toons. Add just one kin to it, and it becomes a completely different team, where the kin will clearly be the MVP.

In summary, you can still stand out by doing the same things you've always done to stand out. Play a good toon, and play it well.

Your OP said that he hates playing with strangers, which is why he won't do trials. But now it sounds like he simply refuses to do the trials, even if playing only with friends. Honestly man, it sounds like he has other reasons for not doing it, and the whole "hate strangers" thing is just an excuse.

Maybe he has some fear of failure, so he's too afraid to do something new, knowing that he will probably get owned the first time. Or maybe he's just mad like you said, due to his own personal reasons, which really have nothing to do with the game.

  20. I have had the tier 3 seekers for a few days now. I have the right side, with the attacker + invincible buffer. The buffer is ok, but I totally didn't like the attacking one. It has only about 850 HP, so it literally gets 2 shotted by some stuff. Plus the damage seems very low.

So with that in mind, I went for the left side and got the other tier 3, with the Augur + regular buffer. Now the buffer dies in 5 secs lol. But at least the Augur is worth it. It has over 2500 HP, which is even more than myself. Plus I can heal it with my rebirth Destiny.

I am one component away from crafting my tier 4, which will be the Augur + inv buffer. I think that will finally make me happy. The Augur does do noticeable damage, plus it's fairly survivable. And the buffer does need to be invincible in my opinion. 850 health just doesn't cut it in the new trials.

Tell your friend to stop being a wuss. Tell him he's not special. NONE of us like to team with strangers. We ALL would rather play with close friends. But we don't quit the game the first time we suddenly can't do it.

The ironic part is that that the new trials are almost completely devoid of social interaction. You'll have the leader and maybe one other person giving instructions, but nobody else needs to say a single thing for the whole trial. At this point everybody knows what they're doing, so these things go like clockwork.

Especially on the BAF, nobody really cares about you and what you say, as long as you're contributing to the trial. There are 23 others besides you. Your group of friends could just continue chatting in your private chat, and nobody would care.

It's not "teaming with people you don't know". It's teaming with your friends, while other people also happen to be there. And if you set it up yourself, they technically don't even need to be on your team!
  22. Didn't read the rest of the thread, but just wanted to say that I've been doing extremely well on my fire/SS tank. Been playing him almost exclusively since I20 came out. Tried the trials on a couple other toons and was underwhelmed. Just didn't have the sheer feeling of power that my tank does. I can tank all parts of both trials, and I also add a ton of damage. None of my other toons can do both of those things even nearly as well.
  23. With the right coloring and role play, anything can look like anything
  24. I have the T3 75% -res one, but I just realized how small the debuffs is today (2.5%). That seems fairly insignificant, so I'm thinking of moving up to T4 and switching to the 75% DoT instead.

Any more input from people that have tried both?
  25. So is the DoT more valuable than the -res on reactive? Is there a concensus?
