Number 1 fits the best, but you can't see the girl in all the flames. It's too hard to make her out and that's not good for an avatar. The rest just don't really evoke the idea of a 'Pyro Nympho' so I can't recommend them either.

I'd try to find something that was more fitting, for an elemental fire babe. Something more along the lines of these two, where you can make out the simple shape of a female inside the flames:

Dude is not unisex. Dude refers specifically to the male gender. While slang may change from place to place, it's accepted definition in the English language is in reference to males.

"I use dude as a unisex word, dude." would be an acceptable compromise.

That tie dye pattern mixed with a transparent drop shadow makes it a real PITA to edit. >.<

Grae, your powerset listing in your banner is almost unreadable. The outerglow combined with the non-serif font and slant is just too much to distinguish through.

The idea here is that we're trying to have a contest. A contest has rules that need to be followed, or else it's not a contest at all. It's perfectly fine to not hold a contest as such, but when you're eliminating people every month for the non-binding title of 'FArt Champion 200X,' you're going to cause drama by playing the field unfairly. There's something on the line, even if that something has no quantifiable value to everyone.

Either hold a real contest or don't hold one at all. If you just want a friendly art jam with a theme, it would be *much* preferable to simply say so. Continuing with this as it is, simply shows the blatant favoritism that this forum hosts. Some people constantly break the 'rules' and yet are praised upon, whereas other artists follow the guidelines and are hounded by seemly petty remarks and accusations. Generally, I find this forum to be relatively well meaning but completely hypocritical and cliquish. It's fine to be as such, but everyone has to realize that you cannot 'play nice' when you pit the forum against itself in a contest of bragging rights.

Fault lies in the forum as a whole for letting the underling social issues get to this point. I would really suggest that we re-evaluate the contest entirely and instead opt for a less confrontational activity like the aforementioned art-jam. Everyone can join in and drop out as they please. No worries about a winner, no worries about hurt feelings.

Bayani, you should understand by now that this place is a happy land of wonderment and sunshine and gum drops. Nobody is allowed to be realistic or critique anyone, nobody is allowed to point out flaws in things that are glaringly obvious and nobody is allowed to say anything negative about any of the established 'regulars' here.

Nobody wants to admit it, but this board is extremely elitist in it's ongoings. If you want to actually speak your mind, I applaud you with heartfelt thanks, but you're going to catch major flak for it no matter what. It's why I don't really hang around much these days.

Thermal is more of a buff set and with this combination of corruptors, Dark is better than Therm. Dark's -ToHit is FAR better than Rad's could ever be, making the +Def shields that much better. It's got strong healing, a better rez, pet support, it gets it's -res much earlier than Therm and it has massive crowd control, allowing it to play out the semi Dom role as well.

Therm is really good, don't get me wrong. But in this situation, you really don't need the extra buffing power. Instead, you want more hybrid debuff/mez to support the other chars.

Regardless of what he's charging for the commissions, I think what Bayani is seeing here is the same thing I'm seeing. PWA has hit the uncanny valley of art quality. It's just good enough to seem very professional and high caliber work, but it's not good enough to hang with all the other content in that realm.

Essentially it's not fair to judge him by that standard of quality, but his skill has propelled him into that category. He's not bad enough to write off the small mistakes that you catch un-experienced artists making, so he gets the full brunt of the audience's initial reaction.

I agree that for the price you pay, you're getting much more than you should. I just think that it's not going to do much to spare him from this type of reaction in the future.

I submit Squisherific for this thread. She's done a lot of CoH characters, has always been extremely curious, communicative and faithful to her obligations. She's also an artist in such an unique medium that it totally deserves to be showcased. One look at her works and you'll be hard pressed not to fall in love with them, yourself.

Here's my gender swap version of Tuter_King's Mr. Marks:

Mr. Marks is heavily tied to the Skulls enemy group, so I tried to keep the character looking like a Skull, without being plain enough to become indistinguishable from them. The original version of him was extremely monochromatic being entirely yellow and black, so I wanted to spice up the color scheme a little. I made all the yellows into gold instead, to reduce the amount of color vibration that the piercing lemon yellow causes on the deepest black.

I added some white into the rims of the glasses, feet and the main skull symbol, to make it pop. Since I really liked the synergy of the crown brooch on the skull head, I kept that part of the character very visible. Changing the shoulder parts to neck and shoulder chains made the brooch look like it's a pendant on a gold chain, while the skull is a simple print on the shirt. That seemed very appropriate garb for a Skull, to me.

I toned down the amount of chains on her, since all the detail was overpowering the basic design, so instead of the chain gloves, I gave Ms. Marks the sinister gloves. The yellow/gold gloves draw your eye to the hands and since she's a SS or DM brute, it's good design to make her hands a focal point.

Since I like to give every one of my costumes something unique, I decided to take the basic pants and turn them into chaps, using a combo of 'tight pants,' selective patterning and flared jeans. The lighter area in the middle breaks up the darkness of the silhouette and lets you perceive the top and bottom of her design better. I chose the flared jeans to add some weight to her lower half since her top half is already so dominant.

Choosing hair was difficult, since there's no female version of the corn rows style, so I just kept it to something very short to the head. Instead of making it black though, I made it the deepest brown I could. It helps to further separate her body from her costume. Just to add a *slight* bit of color, I gave her a purple lipstick. It's not very bold, so it should be subtle, but it adds some interesting play into her head since her 'eyes' are basically gold. Yellow and purple being the natural contrasting colors.

On a slightly unrelated note, random themes really suck. Not every character is appropriate for every theme and while I love seeing alternate versions of my own character, I don't care for some themes. If this is going to happen again, I would *much* prefer to be able to pick my theme. This time around, I signed up for one thing and then was given something entirely different. That was a really nasty switcheroo, which I'd really prefer to not see again.

I don't think that this team is going to have any problems with resistant enemies due to double -res debuffs and -def as well. That's completely ignoring what damage types the brutes will bring.

What I do see as a potential problem is that the kids might not enjoy having their cool outfits covered up by 'stupid ice' the entire time. Might want to ask them how they feel about that.

Considering the small team nature and the age of the people involved, I really think that you'll be better off letting one of them play a brute to lead and keep aggro. Corruptors are slightly advanced to understand and the most potent ones come in the buff category, which will be a pain to keep up constantly. Corr teams are also pretty vulnerable to being mezzed out of their precious debuffs unless you plan for that, but the upkeep cost is pretty high.

You're much more likely to find a happy medium letting someone play 'the strong guy' and letting him happily smash stuff to bits while the adults buff and debuff. That leaves the other spot for pure damage or control, or both with a dominator. Corr teams are fantastic and rip through purple walls of XP like Olestra chips through an intestinal tract. But it's not an easy mode by far, when you're dealing with relatively new players.

It also helps to curb the dreaded death party spiral when you face an EB or AV who punches through one of your main Corrs with a lucky shot and then you're caught playing catchup rather than beatdown.

Rain of Fire does x3 scourge instead of the standard x2. Ice Storm only does x3 on the cold damage, making it's total damage still x2 on scourge.

Nope, haven't seen it myself. Likely you're actually hitting a wandering mob that came from another spawn.

DoTs aren't worse under scourge, they're just like normal attacks. One chance to scourge for the whole power.

Rains like RoF and Ice Storm are the big winners when it comes to scourging, since they hit a large area and roll individual ticks of damage. That's why Fire/Dark corruptors are so dangerous, since a rain will start to scourge the moment the enemy gets into low health.
