My favorite shot of my little pyromaniac.

Oh Cashoo, your art is one of the few things that brings excitement and new flavor into this forum these days. Your use of vivid colors, your control over line quality, form and proportion is far beyond your years. Everything you do has volume and substance, which is extremely impressive, considering you just started playing this game and your only references to the subjects you're doing is a few small screenshots. There's only a few people that constantly amaze me with raw talent and skill and you're one of them.
I really hope that you'll continue to stay with us for a while. You still need to see Doc Buzzsaw, the Facemaker and some of the stranger Arachnos mobs, like the Tarantulas and the Super Arachnoids. :3 -
Limiting the colors to black/blue and white is also another big problem. There's no room for creativity when you have to use the same colors on the same pattern with the same pieces. I just don't see any point in it.

When you KB mobs away from a tank's taunt toggles, you're griefing his ability to keep aggro. When you KB mobs away from the Shield user, you're griefing their ability to self buff damage. When you KB mobs out of a Rad user's RI and EF, you're griefing their debuffing game. When you KB mobs away from an Ice or Earth troller's juggle patches, you're griefing their ability to control. When you KB mobs out of a clumped herd, you're griefing everyone's ability to AoE them. The list goes on and on.
Quote:Did you even read the rest of my post? I take great care in positioning of my AoEs since it affects my team by using Hover to my advantage. So, I'm actually taking into account the other 7 players on my team and not being selffish unlike the players I outlined before. I cannot help that the secondary effect on my powers is your dreaded KB.
Really, it all circles back to terrible players not knowing how to correctly utilize the secondary effect. It's just that KB is much more noticeable to the other players than other secondary effects (slows, -def, etc).
It's fine if people like the set. Opinions vary greatly on what feels fun to different people. But it's impossible to defend the set as a good set, because it's simply not. It's also not the fault of the other people who play the game, that your set is disruptive to teaming. They should not have to make up for the deficit that Energy Blast brings to the game. It's the responsibility of users of Energy Blast to play it in a non-disruptive way, much like how it's up to me to not spam Black Hole every spawn in a team.
"It makes me feel super!" "But the team is safer this way!" "It's a valid control method!" are not valid excuses to make a spawn intangible simply because I want to. The same goes for every other set, you have to play *with* people. They're not there to applaud you for being such a special snowflake. -
Quote:Fixed for you.Design-wise? ALL-BLUE BODY WITH GRAY CHAINS YEEEEAAAAAHHHHH.
You can't even tell if he has proper hair or not. There's *no* color separation within the design at all here. He's just a giant blob of random blue stuff hobbled together by generic chains.
Kyo wins by more than a mile, you need to go back to art design school. -
Quote:Fixed for you.Sometimes players that use KB, and EB, force others to play to suit their greedy endeavors or belittle them for choosing a set for theme or concept. It's players that take their personal choices too seriously that need to get over themselves and their love for KB.
There are plenty of characters and concepts out there that random KB actively ruins. Just because you LIKE knockback doesn't mean you should force everyone into playing your way, so *you* can feel super. What about everyone else who wants to feel super? Your playstyle is actively griefing their playstyle.
Everyone in this game thinks that their way is the only way to play. KB lovers are as guilty of this as everyone else, only the difference is that they ruin more of the other players' games than any other powerset in the game. -

Quote:Fixed for you.No one has the right to oppose changing all energy powers from knockback to knockdown just to suit some personal tastes. Its been this way for 5 years, wherein people didn't like it then didn't play it.
The best solution is the one that includes everyone in it. Changing Energy blast into KD would allow everyone to have their cake and eat it too. Slotting just one KB enhancement into it would change it into full KB, while keeping it KD for the majority of people who understand that uncontrolled random KB is a Bad Thing™. CoX is a game about teaming and Energy Blast is a set that specifically opposes that team synergy. Until it learns to play nice with the other power sets, it will always be inferior. -
The artist in question is the ever talented Squisheriffic: http://squisherific.deviantart.com/
I love dealing with Squish, because she's a total pleasure to commission. Once she opens up for commissions again, everyone should totally think about getting a plush from her. She does great work:
Also, you're welcome hun. You've been a good friend to me for quite a while now. I just hope you feel better soon. -
Mmrrrr... all of the Feral Kitty stuff is muy caliente. But then all of your stuff is like that, BW. :3
-
I prefer to leave it on, since it amuses me. But my rep is now positive. I mean, whassup wit that? :3

Quote:For a comic figure, this is actually about the right length for legs. His body is roughly half length of hips, torso and head, and half of legs. The far leg is a little short due to perspective here, but it's harder to notice because of the dark background.Blarg, short legs are shoooort! *will remember not to neglect it next time* My deepest apologies! Just focus on the head!
Considering how happy people are with your art, I don't think anyone will care. -
-
lol, reputation.
I wish my rep was still negative, because it only shows how flawed a system of semi-public opinion voting is. Everybody is too concerned with playing nice with the neighbors to say anything that would ruin their precious rep. -
True. Never use Fluffy while you're anchor herding. "Fluffy is a sometimes pet." Use him during difficult fights and against EBs, AVs and a particularly nasty boss. You can herd if you're quick and you have recall friend to pull Fluffy out of the mess, but it's honestly just better to not bother with him during normal pulls.

Tuter means that it's too long horizontally. When I made the banner, I sized it so that it has enough room to be cut or cropped down smaller. It wouldn't be an issue to cut it down to around 650 pixels wide, which is what the official dimensions are I believe.

My goodness, Cashoo. That's fantastic. One of my favorite things about your work is the use of color in it. You have a real handle on how to get your colors to mesh well together and still be bold but not overpowering. I don't tend to see that very often, so it's really a treat to have a combination of strong gesture and colorwork in one artist. You remind me quite a bit of Mr. Shia/DrunkFu actually. His style is similar in that regard and he's also another of those artists that I'm insanely jealous of.
-
Cashoo, your stuff is insanely awesome. It... it hurts me to call myself an artist when there's people like you running around. ;_;
-
Trying out a banner for the time being. Might decide to pull it later, dunno yet.

Enforced Morale is absolutely critical to what a support set like Pain does. It's more important than the heals and more important than the aura toggle. Unless you can learn to buff the team with it, proactively during missions, then you're not doing your job as a /Pain.
It's very typical for support type characters to need mez protection more than other characters, because when they get mezzed, it's already too late. RI and EF have gone down, DN has gone down, Sonic Disruption has gone down, the Dom can't lay down controls, there's nobody to debuff or re-buff, etc. Waiting for the 'ZZZ' in chat is not good enough. By then, it can be too late to stop a team wipe. -
Aha! I found a Cashoo. Your other art is *really* ******* nice. Your commission prices are damn low as well. Expect to be flooded soon. >.>
-
FALSE ADVERTISING! Srsly, I was hoping for something altogether different in this thread. :3
-
Extremely nice work there. I'm positive that you're going to be flooded with requests soon.
My request is of my Fire/Dark corruptor: 'Massacre' Melanie
For a pose, I'd prefer something with her cackling to herself over her pyromania. Perhaps similar to the second picture, perhaps reaching to the sky after casting Rain of Fire, there's a lot of leeway in what I'd like. Her personality is cruel and vicious, so if she's smiling, it's generally at someone else's expense. Mel is a little slice of hell on Earth.
There's a lot of raw energy in the stuff you've posted here and it's really wonderful to view. I tend to enjoy gesture drawings quite a lot, because it's one of the areas that I'm artistically weak in. The swooping lines and bold colors are really something to see. Nice to have you here on the board. Is there anywhere we can see your other works? -
This is from the perspective of a Fire/Dark corruptor, so I have a lot of tools at my disposal to complete missions, but I'm very much a squishy still. As I'm not particularly a competent writer I cannot offer much advice in that regard, but I do have a strong grasp of the game mechanics and the AE, so I can give you feedback on the pure performance of your missions.
I'd have made the title for each mission description a different color to separate it from the rest of the text.
Baguhan shouldn't have SR defenses, IMO. Defense sets are the most annoying for players to work with, because it not only frustrates them to lose end whiffing attacks, but it also denies people the use of their mez and debuffs which is too strong to have on minions. They also do lots of stuns already, which makes them plenty difficult as is.
Sundalo ng Asero are good support enemies and I didn't have any issues with them aside from their Flash arrow. When I was hit, I didn't lose track of everything so I'm not sure if it's functioning correctly anymore, but Blinded is the WORST thing to be inflicted with as a player. Essentially nothing works against that and if you're out of yellow inspirations, you're just screwed. It's worse than being held, because you can't even see why you died.
Sundalo ng Bato didn't do anything aside from spam a hold on me. It's highly annoying to a squishy to be held like that, but worse yet he didn't follow it up with anything. No attacks in his AI at all aside from Fossilize, so he was simply annoying and a time waster. I'd much rather see him have quicksand, as that's effective on both squishies and meat alike. It's not completely binary in function. If you still want a mez, then give him Stalactites, which has a much longer recharge and lower accuracy.
Sundalo ng Tubig seemed to work fine. Aside from custom MA's Eagle's Claw which is a bit strong from a player melee set, she was a good balance.
Sundalo ng Hangin was good as well. Attack chain worked fine, good mix of damage and sleep. I liked his higher perception.
Guro Kulog was threatening. For a boss, I expected as much. He's not too hard, but he has good flavor in his Elec and Storm.
Kapitan Remalante hits HARD. Broadsword on a custom NPC is just brutal. But he didn't really seem to have many other defenses so taking him down or suppressing him wasn't that big of an issue. Seems like a balanced fight on my end.
Espada are nice melee combatants. I still dislike SR on them, but since they're not as common, it's much more acceptable. It gives them flavor instead of just being a widespread problem with the entire group.
Guro Dahon has too many defenses to be an acceptable NPC, as she resists not only damage, but mez as well, and has an auto damage toggle and pets to aid her. I agree with the mez toggle, because otherwise, it's too easy for someone to perma mez her into not summoning her pets at all. But also having damage reduction means that the fight gets drawn out too long, where her pets start to overwhelm you. I'd drop the damage resist shield and instead maybe give her Dark Regeneration. That'd do roughly the same thing, but allow for people to interrupt it with defenses or debuffs.
Niyebe didn't seem to attack or do anything at all. I was totally expecting her to help kill things, but she just stood around watching me while Arachnos attacked me. It feels very out of character for a good natured martial artist. It also makes the return trip to the mission door laughable, as she's never in danger.
The second fight with Guro Dahon is better balanced, because DualBlades doesn't do much damage and she doesn't summon pets. She actually feels a lot less dangerous than the first version, honestly.
Guro Magsasaka seems well balanced. He hits hard, he has some defense, some self buffing via Against All Odds. I'd actually like to see him be a little harder, since he's the end fight. Perhaps give him Shield Charge as well, so he avoids getting hung up on the environment.
Overall, the missions are straightforward and make good use of the trigger spawning without being annoying. The enemy group is overall pretty easy and they're designed well. I have my nitpicks, because I'm quite familiar with mob balance and gameplay but they're much more well designed than about 90% of everything else in AE. Overall I would rate this about 5 out of 10 on the difficulty scale. Nothing is particularly difficult and it's possible to separate the support mobs away from the enforcers, so it's not unstoppable. If you wanted to make it harder, there's plenty of room for increase but it's at a level where it matches most of the other content in the game. That's something that's hard to achieve, so it's nice to see.
Good show, Bayani.
