You know, more writing like this would have done a lot towards making the Praetorians seem like an actual moral grey area.
I hope that 1st Ward and any new Praetorian content is done like this. (and maybe a revamp of the more overtly evil current content) -

Quote:1. Eviscerate. Traditionally, the best ST claws chains have ignored Evis, so I'd say you'll be fine without it. However, Evis does have a 90 degree cone and will hit multiples easily in a crowd. It's a great follow up to Spin.So I thought to ask the experts here, which one is “better”?? Can Claws do solid ST damage without Evic? Do people just ignore chains? How useful is Shockwave? Are they pretty much in a dead heat and I should just pick one and be happy?
Thanks!
2. People usually choose which combos they way to use and take the powers for them. Attack Vitals probably the best combo as the added damage is very nice. Plus, you'll want all 3 of the attacks used for it anyway. Sweep is also really nice for some extra aoe damage and the knockdown. But Sweep does use 1kcuts. Empower isn't as cool on a Brute since Fury outshines the tiny extra dmg from it. Weaken is a nice aoe debuff effect
3. Shockwave is as useful as you want it to be. Yeah, it knocks things back. But that can be very useful. Nearby walls can keep the spawn from spreading, things that are knocked aren't hitting you. If you're really good, you can knock down half a spawn and significantly lower the alpha strike of the spawn. And for fun, head to Cimerora or fight things that are +1 and higher, the KB is knock Down then. It can really give you some breathing room if you need it. That said, if you have a 2ndry that requires mobs to be close to you then Shockwave will very counterproductive at times. -
Hopefully this patch will stop the incredibly annoying OpenGL crashing in every game I play, especially this one.

I wouldn't mind Revive giving an untouchable period of about 5-10 seconds just to retoggle or run away.
Right now, Revive is always followed my MoG for me just to get my toggles up and use some Insp. I'd rather not have to use MoG just to make sure Revive does its job. -
One more item to cross off the list! Very nice touch making it enhanceable.
Though, of course, they forgot to add a couple patch notes regarding this issue:
New Powers Tech!- In addition to different effects based on NPC rank, powers may now have different effects based on Player Archetype and even specific powersets!
- added -100% regen debuff to all NPC attacks specific to all 3 forms of Regeneration.
-
I hadn't seen that bit about doubling our costume slots before. That will be awfully nice and something I'd pay for. I wonder if it's account wide or not?
That was a very good summary of everything and really shows things off well for someone thinking of entering the game for the first time. -
I didn't have much hope for pulling 8 50s together, much less enough that wanted to attempt to get all the badges, but it happened and after some planning, we earned Midnight Dodger, Kitty and Army on our first try! We only had to do a quick rerun of the first mission to get Hacker afterwards for a few people but the whole thing went really smoothly for a spur of the moment pug TF.
Thanks to everyone who was on the TF:
Das Carrot
Sparrows
Slightly Stupid
Partoutatis
IceDude07
Madame Vortex
Giggles McGee
With special thanks to Tam for helping fill to restart for the last badge.
Thanks you guys, it was a lot of unexpected fun. -
Why don't you first try customer support. Explain how you screwed up and ask if the character can be restored to an earlier copy, if that's even possible.
They might not be able to do anything, but it's worth a shot. -
I worried that by making EA more like Ice Armor, they've basically said that they'll never proliferate it to us.
-
Quote:That would require an entirely new set of animations, i.e. a brand new set.
Which defeats the point of proliferation which is basically a way the devs can recycle material and have us be happy about it.
Not to mention that the game is not balanced on piles and piles of recharge.Didn't said that it wouldn't be a pain in the ***, just that it was probably a better way to convey what they wanted but definitely not easy.
-
"Slower" should have meant longer animations probably. It probably wasn't the best idea to simply improve the DPS of each power in a game where you can pile on so much +recharge so easily now.
-
Quote:I wasn't aware that the powerleveling AE stuff got that bad. 2 hours? Really? To bash people for supposedly claiming that (which I haven't seen) and then assume rerolling is an ordeal or a black and white thing strikes me as a bit silly.
Some people will take 2 hours to go from 1 to 50, some people will take 200 hours.
Some enjoy rerolling, some hate it.
Additionally, it's not like there's a specific threshold of performance at which you can say "oh, yes, definitely, reroll now" or "no, not worth it at all, never". Best you can do is give an idea of the performance gap, say what you'd do personally and let each individual decide for themselves.
You quoted that post I was referring to. The point I'm making is that claiming one version of the combo is "gimped" defensively over the other or that one should reroll to avoid dealing with an "inferior" character is completely absurd, as is some of the hyperbole in this thread. -
Quote:This is one of the few reasonable things in this entire thread.
Again these are MINOR differences in sets and the numbers are close either way. But to think for one second you can come into the brute forums and convince us scrappers are better? Child please! I will SMASH you with strong and pretty!
As was said elsewhere, most of the time, you can look at a powerset combo and simply ask if you like the playstyle of either AT better and be done with it. Claws and Elec are the less common examples where there are some demonstrable advantages to being a brute.
And those advantages? Relatively minor, distinct but nothing worth actually rerolling a character over. Not nearly the "infinitely better" that has been paraded around. But they are there.
(For the record, I have no idea what went into deciding how the Claws powers would change when ported to Brutes. It was fairly haphazard. Well, that's not entirely true. The single target changes are straighforward, but the AoEs? Dunno.) -
Hi everyone, I realized I've been a bit remiss in my duties, but I just wanted to remind everyone of the Stickied "Scrapper Issues List" at the top of the forum. If you look under Regen's section, you will see that the issue of -regen resistances has been on the list of concerns for nearly 2 years now.
I am glad to see people still discussing this stuff so if I may piggy back, I will be working on a new version, compliant with Issue 20 that will be posted in the next week.
P.S. if you have the ability to get either Synapse or Black Scorpion to read your PMs, let me know. -
Quote:Black Scorpion said in the other thread that they are enabling an option for you to decline all movement buffs from other players. So for AoE Speed Boost, you'd all get the recharge buffs, but not the +runspeed.I sincerely hope that they reconsider Speed Boost as an AoE. Some people don't enjoy the extra speed. Perhaps make a pop-up window come up for these new AoE buffs similar to Rez notifications and what-not. That way people can say 'no, I'm an idiot and don't want your helpful buff'
But this AoE-Buff thing is 100% good. There is zero reason to complain about this. Unless your M. Bill and have a problem with progress.
edit: post #17771, heh -
Good, I'm glad that it didn't screw anything up for you guys.

I just wanted to apologize for dropping out of an STF last night, about 6:45pm est. We were halfway through and doing very well and I had just asked about how much more time the rest of the STF would take when all of the sudden, my character logged out.
Why? I was asking about the time because someone in my apartment was not happy I was playing that moment. When I explained that it would be another 20-30 minutes and then I could stop, the power cord was pulled out of the wall.
To the people left on the STF, I hope you weren't too inconvenienced and that you managed to finish despite being short on damage. I'm really sorry if you weren't able to finish because of me. -
I've always taken Dark Consumption so I usually don't prioritize End Rdx in DM slotting. So for Siphon Life, I keep it simple and slot like this.
Numina: Heal, Heal/Rech
Mako: Acc/Dmg, Dmg/Rech
Crush: Acc/Dmg, Dmg/Rech
Acc: 53.00
Dmg: 95.90
Heal: 68.90
Rech:78.55
It's not the most that can be squeezed in there, but I think its good considering it doesn't require HOs, purples, or pvp ios. And like the others said, a Spiritual Core alpha slot is gravy. -
And of course, Murphy's Law of Complaining ensured that within 24 hours of me making a post here, I got the "Unstable Trigger" tip and was able to finally fight Maelstrom and get my badge.
The advice about dropping tips to earn others in time? Awesome. Thank you -
I'm necroing this because I'm pretty fed up with it.
I've been grinding tip missions like it's my job and I STILL haven't seen any of the ones with Maelstrom. None!
Anyone have any advice? -
Quote:When I started, the common advice for Regen was to not slot anything except for QR, IH and maybe DP if you want. When I asked for build advice, I had slotted Recon, DP and FH also and was told that if I wanted to spend that many slots on defense, I should have rolled Invuln. Ha! You really did spend 28 levels sucking and then at 28, you got to flip maybe the biggest lightswitch in performance that was ever in the game. I don't remember encountering a single foe in the game that could kill me solo. It was rapturous but the nerf was as inevitable as it was deserved.Proof that we are rich and famous.
If anyone of you has any stories about your Scrapper experience, do share!
And don't even get me started on Claws. =)
I've really enjoyed my Scrappers far more than other ATs. I've got more 50s and more time spent on them than all the other ATs combined. My Claws/Regen Scrapper was the very first character I created and it is still my main character after 7 years and about... wait, let me check, 3,236 hours later, I don't have any plans on stopping.
i still have the picture of me Dinging 50 for the first time on that Claw/Regen
-
Awesome. I tried this arc again today for the second time (been a villain for a while) and while I saw 12 people, got them all and managed to get Harken out, I still didn't get the badge.
that's annoying.
EDIT: Tried it again and got it this time. The only difference was that I clicked the "get out of here" on each pop up this time. Go figure. -
Just wanted to add my voice to those who lost progress from this morning.
I earned the 35-40 End Mod invention badge, 35-40 Travel invention badge, and the Field Crafter Accolade.
I lost those and then all the IOs crafted from that work. -
Quote:Would Stupid_Fanboy or Hyperstrike be willing to run this benchmark demo? I tried it on my 7900GTX and got some odd results. The 7900 GTX is too old for this benchmark, but I'm probably about a week away from getting my card back. I'd really like to know what you get running the OpenGL settings on a 200 series card or newer.
Oh, and be sure and turn on the messages.
I ran it first in DirectX 11.

Not a very good showing for Open GL. And I could tell it would be bad about 2 seconds into the test. The jittery frame rate was just awful.
