Here Here! One of the better statements I've read in a while. People get so caught up in min/maxing and power-gaming, they forget to have fun.

But to answer the question, KM combines well with all the scrapper secondaries. It does seem to combine better with resistance sets because of the -dmg in the set. But like Deuce, I'm still a big fan of Super Reflexes. Conceptwise it flows nicely together especially if you customize together with the right colors. Better to die in style than do mediocre and look boring.

But I'm also levelling up a KM/Elec that seems to be handling business in the lower levels. I'm definitely interested to see how it does higher and once I slot it.

Go with makes you happy, whether it's from a numbers view and/or a concept one. =)
  2. Finally took a look at the build this morning and ... *drumroll* ...looks pretty solid. Granted not they way I would slot but you still got some solid numbers and balance overall. I don't see too much that you can tweak.

Personally, the only thing I would do different is go for a higher defense. Sure, soft-cap is at around 45% but I always like a little extra in case I do get defense debuffed. I hate being too far below soft-cap. Also I try to slot alternate damage IOs (negative damage, lethal damage, etc) when I can incorporate it or have a slot or 2 I can spare. Helps when going up against enemies that are particularly resistant to your damage type, and the alternate damage type always helps up damage output when they fire off either way.

Once I get mine up to 50 to fully IO, I'll run it through some testing. As of now I'm not a huge fan of Repulsing Torrent but the extra AoE/Cone of damage would obviously be helpful in a farm/herding type environment. I'll just have to overcome my stubborness of concept and give in to my scrapperish need to kill faster. >_<

    Good job. =)

If you insist on using that set and want to add in another aoe switch villain side at 50 go lighting ball because it only requires 1 prereq not 2 like fireball and switch back
Wha?? Lies! I use a couple of my SR toons for farming all the time.. though I will agree that km/sr might not be a good combo. Elec/ or db/ or fire/ might be better balanced if you're looking for an /sr farming scrapper.

But as far as KM/SR being able to hold it's own.. there shouldn't be a problem, though I haven't looked over your build just yet.

Hehe, same here though I think I'm going way of the brute for my Kin/Elec.

Would love that, but won't be on tonight. Thanks for the offer though. Might take you up on it next Wednesday though.

    Ugh, WHY KM!?

Being an altaholic, I'd say just about any of the sets are a good pairing with it, just a amatter or personal preference. I've take a KM/SR (soft-capped defense and perma hasten) and KM/Elec (balanced overall I feel with resist at 50-60% across the border) to 50 on beta and IO'd them. Both held up well under pve. I don't see any reason why WP wouldn't hold up under test as well.
  8. I still say Super Reflexes should be in there.

I think the only thing I have along those lines of Psi/Mental is a WP Tank and a WP Brute.. neither of which is IO slotted. Oh and my cold/ice def with Psi Epic set (Mind Over Matter and World of Confusion) if that counts.
  9. It's a good set, but as stated.. harder to soft cap than some despite having a few "perks". It's easier and at less sacrifice of other set bonuses to go Super Reflexes or Shield Defense. EA has 8 damage type defenses to work on, even if Fire/Ice, Smash/Lethal, and Energy/Negative are paired. Toxic and Psionic aren't as easy to build up even with IO set bonuses when you can fit them in. This versus Super Reflexes and only 3 positional defenses to work on with plenty of higher IO set bonuses to be found.

Actually I'm gonna give this set another go around in combination with KM. Conceptwise it seems to fit much less a theme I came up with. It's a solid set you just need to work at more than most whether you IO or not.

    Ugh, WHY KM!?

Soul Drain was mentioned as in comparison.. which to most is not a weak power.

Power Siphon as a similar effect of increasing your damage (i.e Build-Up), but just dependent on having a targetable mob within range. The -Dmg effects (meaning you decrease the amount of dmg the mobs can do to you) apply to all Kinetic Melee attacks, they just don't give you +dmg like PS.

Power Siphon may seem "weak on paper" but once you get it to stack, it is anything but. How did you come up with you "on paper" numbers anyhow? Combat attributes after a single low level drain? Mids with adjusting the slider? Just curious.
  11. So what'sthe next Sunday Special? Kinetic/Energy? *wiggles eyebrows*
  12. Defense could be a lot higher if you did use Weave. Plus if you're trying to keep cost, sets of LotGs and some of the others (which you could make better use of in your autos. Plus I feel using Leadership is kind of a waste unless you tend to do nothing but team and act more as support toon sticking with the squishies... but that's both a matter of opinion and personal playstyle on my part. Also your end use is a little ridiculous simply at the cost a slightly higher regen and no travel power and even skipped the Tier 9 without having soft capped defense.Unless I'm missing the point of this build and it's meant to be for something more specific other than team play in pve or maybe a concept build?

If it is meant for teamplay pve, then I suggest try this build.

This is a cheap build of my KM/SR. Now costwise it might be slightly higher but a cleaner use of IO set bonuses I feel and worth the cost. It sets you above soft-capped defense. I like to set mine slightly higher to compensate some for defense debuffs. Regen is only .6 lower than yours but I freed up powers so you actually have a travel power as well as increasing your defense, to hit, and run speed. Accuracy & damage bonuses are slightly lower, but then again, you won't be getting hit as much and attacking slightly faster.

The only thing I sacrificed was Repulsing Torrent. Not a big fan of it and I threw in Conserve Power for those extended AV fights or end draining mobs (Clockwork, Malta Sappers, etc). It should be easy enough to switch Repulsing Torrent back in & Conserve Power out and pull slots from CJ and Tough to 4 slot RT if you really want it back.

Enjoy my "cheap" build of my ow KM/SR.
  13. Bah, got distracted by new costume pieces and didn't get in early enough. Next Monday I'll park my tank in there an hour or more early... with EoEs and Heavies. >_<
  14. Well ya know me... as long as I get pics, I could care less what was said about me. *flashgrin*

If/when those players do winding leading a raid, usually those are the ones that get completed the fastest/smoothest/most fun etc.

Those people are the blessing and the bane of Justice. They make things easy so others can be lazy/inept. I wish they'd all take a vacation from the game for a week so everyone else would realize how much those people actually contribute to Justice instead of just being taken for granted.

That being said, if you want to lead a raid as many others have done, your best bet is to get those hidden helpers of Justice to give you a hand. You probably know who most of them are. Some of them even can be lured out with bad cheese and/or catgurls.
Ugh, don't I know that. Not that I'm saying I'm one of the hidden talents; far from it. Just from leading the Rikti raids and watching others being ran, I notice the differences. I'm not great at leading them but they are fairly easy to run in my opinion. I think that's why I want to see if I can not totally botch a Hami run. >_<

And thanks Arwen. Much appreciated. I'll make sure to be on Monday with a pack of nukes and shivs.
  16. Oh and if need be, I can bring Kytheria Coryza instead, my cold dom/ice blast(/Psi Epic) Def instead. She's only 48 atm, but slotted out in regards to her ice shields and holds (has 3 single target hold blasts).

You know me, I'm flexible. Either way, see you online in a couple of hours.
  17. Sounds like fun. Illenia use to run those all the time. Only one I hated was the Darkness LGTF because my poor dark/dark brute took a beating with all the changes. >_<

    Count me in.
    I'll bring Kytheria Oiolyka - Controller 50 - Ice/Kin
  18. He smells like catgirls and keeps bad cheese in "his basement"?

Actually I wouldn't mind learning how to lead a Hami raid. Who's up for training the nub? *flashgrin*
Seriously though, would love to learn how to tank/run aggro for Hami. I usually end up bringing a blaster or scrapper. So I'm not sure if my IO'd SD/Elec tank is up to snuff. Any tips or strategies would be great before I just jump in next Hami raid I get a chance with.
  19. Yeah, definitely get Mids. It's a great hand when IO building a toon.

As far as what sets you should go for, definitely keep in mind Touch of Death for attacks and Red Fortune sets for defense toggles. These, when 6 slotted into a power, will heko with defense bonuses (melee and range respectively). Perhaps also Luck of the Gambler [7.5% Global Recharge] and [Defense] IOs for your autos (Agile, Dodge, Lucky) to help with recharge and upping regen. That should give you a good start. =)

    Hello Justice

Well the saying is "Just Us on Justice" for a reason. And I thought that was us being nice.

LOL, right! All these people are fixated on how broken or overpowered Shield Defense is and forgot all about your question of if Super Reflexes is obsolete.

Short answer: Yes, for pve it's still effective. Pvp it's lacking unless you heavy IO build.

Long Answer (but not too long ): SR is a solid set for pve and I still stand by it for scrappers, brutes or stalkers. It's easy and cheap to soft cap defense at 45% or more. And even without use of the Tier 9 [Elude], the set does the job. Nor do you have to singlely focus on soft-capping defense at the sacrifice of missing out on other bonuses or taking additional powers to compensate to get increased accuracy, to hit, or damage. I do think though that it could use some possible tweaking/love in the future to bring it on par with some of the other sets. Perhaps maybe adding a increase to regen factor each time Practice Brawler fires? I'm sure other people have better ideas.

    =)
  22. As Doomguide says, depends what you're looking to get out of the set. Also how much you're able/willing to spend.

My suggestions... maybe look at putting the full 6 of the Gaussian Fire-Control set in Follow-up. Gives some nice bonuses especially at 6 you get that set of Defense bonuses. Also look at Scirocco sets in your AoE attacks. You'll get a regen and accuracy bonus and at the 5th you'll get an AoE defense bonus. Same thing with Stamina instead.. put in Performance Shifter instead of Efficacy. The Aegis set in Tough is nice but I personally wouldn't bother too much with it if you can get your regen rate higher... particularly if you put in 2 sets of Luck of the Gambler (Def and the 7.5% Global recharge) in your auto powers of Dodge, Agile, and Lucky. Higher regen as well as higher def slotting that way as well as increased recharge. I would also probably go with Hover and drop Air Superiority and Combat Jump and drop another 7.5% LotG in it. Then you shouldn't need to 2 slot Practiced Brawler with that recharge and it should still double stack.

Now if you're realllly willing to fork out the funds, look at dropping in a few purple sets say in Focus, Shockwave, Slash and maybe Boxing as well as picking up Hasten. Then Focused Accuracy won't be needed with the accuracy bonuses you'll get as well as recharge bonuses.

That's just up the top of my head. Good job at looking to put in Touch of Death and Red Fortune sets to start with. Not a bad start for a Claws/SR.
  23. Justin da NickOTime?

I still think Nickisdanub fits best. <_<
  24. Agreed, but I'll make sure to be loaded up with nukes for Wednesday since I won't be making the Tuesday Tanker nights or the Monday night raid, because when I am on those nights, I primarily tend to run TFs. So I'll have plenty of time to hopefully get all 3 plus Shivs. If not I'll just toss Chloe at Hami and see what happens.
  25. Now I'm sure I'll be reitterating a lot of what has been said, so forgive. But I feel SR has been and still is a solid set. I think I've played every combination of /SR on both scrappers and brutes with the exception of Super Strength/SR on a brute (which is next for GR XD).

Super Reflexes has 2 solid things going for it when it comes to IOs. It's easy to not only soft-cap positional defense but go high enough that even with a defense debuff, you remain still at soft-cap. And second is it is easy to soft-cap defense rather inexpensively allowing you room to work on other bonuses such as damage and accuracy. And if you're willing to shell out the money, then you can easily get perma-hasten or with only a few seconds gap without sacrificing your soft-capped defense with most primary sets.

I think my strongest scrapper in terms of pve team play (such as on AV mishes or TFs) is my Dual Blades/SR. I have 3 separate IO builds for it. The first is a concept [no travel power] on Virtue, 1 on Freedom that is a no holds barred 51%+ defense and near perma-hasten (3.2 sec gap) and 1 on Justice that was frugally built and is the primary toon I play as my go-to scrapper. End is never an issue with any of these builds. On the cheap build took most of the DB powers and all but Elude from SR. Some people might think "How could you not take the Tier 9?", but with the build I have, I have no need for it and instead took Conserve Power from Body Mastery on the rare occasion I'm in an extended AV fight or high end draining foes, so I never bottom out, running all toggles and Practiced Brawler on auto (which is perma without hasten and only 1 enh of IO Rech Redux). I can easily handle "farm type" mobs at +3 for a group of 8 like the old demon farm or any of the countless other old favorites, though it was never made to do that. Initially the frugal build was the first db/sr build I did simply to solo Generals and their mobs on ITFs. I get enough resistance to smash/lethal from Tough and regen off my IO bonuses that anytime I do get hit, I'm more than able to recover without using Insps.

I think /SR is still more than a viable set, though I would agree it could use a few tweaks to bring back up to the fore-front that is held. And I think DB/SR is a great combo for a scrapper.
