Quote:That's not the power, but player error.Im considering respecing them out on my elec/rad troller.
They just keep messing up my herds
Yeah, since my schedule has been a bit wacky too, my elec/elec dom is still in Praetoria too. But my Elec/SR scr is climbing the ladder pretty quick and gonna start his villainous desecent as soon as I get Posi TF out of the way.
Look out Synapse.. here comes Hyperfist! Time to go... HYPER! -
No specific theme? Well with luck I should have the new PC up and running and ready to rock out with my... err.. nvm. >_> I should be on if someone else drops out. <_<

Not bad for basic IOs but if you go more with sets, you can do a lot better. That's the great thing with Super Reflexes, rarely do you need purple sets to make it worthwhile.
Now with what you have.. I would suggest taking out the accuracy in your attacks and applying those slots to your toggles as an End Redux. Super Reflexes does tend to be a little end heavy with so many toggles, even if you get consistent End recovery from your electric attacks.
Now if you slowly can afford sets.. throw in say Touch of Death sets (6 slot for Melee Def bonus), Red Fortune in your toggles (6 slot also for Range Def bonus) and Sciroccos Dervish (only need 5 slots for AoE Def bonus) should get you close to soft-capped positional defense if not better. Any purple sets you throw in will just be gravy for recharge and accuracy. -
Hahaha... I love you people.
AnyHow! ...I'd love to work up my own Elec/Elec Dom but I'm not on as often as all that. But if you ever need someone for TFs/other that's Elec, I have my Shield/Elec Tank (50), Elec/Elec blaster (28), and my Elec/SR Scr (39) at your disposal if I'm on at the same time. Typically I'm on Sunday 2pm-late and Monday & Thursdays at about that same time. -
Quote:I was thinking about running an all melee STF or LGTF actually, though not that AT quantity specific.I would like to try an all melee STF.
2 Scrapper
2 Tankers
2 Brutes
2 Stalkers (yes u read this right...lol)
Since Tankers/Brutes can get Darkest Night and Quicksand and the other AT's get more APP/PPP powers that can make it doable.
And yeah, the point of most all scrapper/tank/brute TFs/SFs is to just stab, punch, bludgeon and kick everything till it's dead. Death is just a minor delay in more of the same. -
Yeah, the lack of damage on Dark/ is what made me go with Rad/ in the end. Plus the fact I tend to lead at least one Rikti Mothership Raid a week, so eventually Howling Twilight of /Dark will come in handy for all those merit mooching corpses. XD

I was going to let it all slide by with simpy reading it all for my own amusement buuuut....
While I get your point about overanalyzing and looking at something so hard can sometimes take away from the "fun" of actually just running it. But with no analyzing and just random attacking, this can take away from the fun too. Look at the heap of failed Cathedral of Pain trials recently with people thinking they can just throw nukes and pets at things and succeed.
From my own personal experience of running the Rikti Raids (though this is not equal by no means to the organization and direction of people for Hami and/or CoPs), "mastery of people" is required more than anything else. I can see how his wording is taken as some form of elitism or just plain bullying... it still isn't any less true. A simple lack of communication and getting the Mob to do what's best for all can turn any raid or multi-team endeavor from a Wham-Bam-Thank You Maam into an truly ugly cluster****. And I'm by no mean an elitest; at least not that I'm aware. I'm not that good of a player, first of all. Nor do I try to exclude people willing to listen and learn or that can input constructive criticism and offer up help. But get that many people to try to work together without becoming like the mindless mobs of Rome unleashed does take "mastery of people"; or at least an understanding and ability to direct and/or motivate them to act in harmony. Throw a raid a curveball like half the raiders wiping for whatever reason, and things can get ugly fast. Once you've seen one raid leader and those individuals who back them up handle that... you quickly see how one raid can fall apart in dismal failure, and how others pull themselves up, dust themselves off, and launch back into the fray with another win under their belt.
Just my thought, and probably the longest one I've posted on the CoH forums in my over 5 years of playing.
I blame Cai for using long words like "epidemic" and "braggadocio".

Just my impatience showing through, but as said.. wait a little bit and here comes the comments.
Now for further details on my intentions of the thread. The toon name is Apocalypse Doll and I want it to be a combination of debuff/buff and damage in both a solo and team setting. Definitely not looking to make it a "farming" toon but I want it to be able to handle its own. I though about a fire/rad or fire/dark but I already have too many fire blasters and corrs. >_< Hence why I narrowed it down to rad/dark or dark/rad.
Nice detailing from some of you, especially Biospark. Definitely gives me a fuller picture of which ways I can take either combination and how I'll have to adjust my strategies with each.
Keep the comments coming! =) -

Yes it does stack and yes it's worth it stacking to maintain continuous portection versus mez.
Now that's not to say you need to dedicate slots to it unless you're a cheapskate like me until I hit level 50. I don't bother with IOs or even with buying DOs or SOs until level 47. I usually just operate using drops and will usually toss a total of 2 or maybe 3 slots for recharge into Practiced Brawler.
Once I hit 50 (or even prior depending what my primary assault is) I don't bother wasting any additional slots on PB, because the Super Reflexes set comes with Quickness much less recharge set bonuses you get from IOs. This is usually more than enough to let PB stack. This combined with my inate laziness, I simply click PB to be an auto-fire. My DB/SR has only a 7 second delay I believe (or somewhere close to that) from triple stacking even and she's not even built for recharge.
So early on you might want to toss one slot in there for recharge, but respec it out when you IO build. That or just toss one extra if you tend to exempt down a lot to do lower level tfs and such. That should be more than ample to allow it to overlap enough even if rech slowed. -
I expected more responses between when I posted and now... but more or less that's exactly what I'm leaning towards of making a rad/dark. I was just hoping for opposing viewpoints of maybe things I didn't consider for both.
Thanks, Janus. =) -
Wha? I call Shenanigans! No way my attention last long enough to watch even a vid that short from beginning to end in one sitting.

I'm use to playing and slotting up corruptors offensively with some team support (i.e Energy/Kin, DP/Pain, etc) but have yet to go with a debuffing sort of corruptor. Well that's about to change and looking to see the strengths and weaknesses of a rad/dark versus a dark/rad. Please include powers you feel are a necessity to each and which ones are wastes of a power slot.
Get Ready!
Rad Blast/Dark Miasma VERSUS Dark Blast/Radiation Aura!
GO! -
Well I still say Super Reflexes should be in there. If you take in consideration how fast a neural net or the brain's synaptic nerves have to fire in order to dodge a bullet or blast of Nictus energy...
What about Empathy or possibly Pain Domination? Shouldn't they technically be considered "mental/mind" powers? Just a thought.
But I'll be on hand with my Willpower/Energy Melee tank if no one else steps up. =) -
Wha?? It started already?? Oh sonuva.. I won't be on till tomorrow. >_<

Wading through all the other comments and such, I'll answer the OP's question directly.
Elude isn't necessary. It does come in handy prior to picking up IO bonuses and all your necessary powers to soft-capping your positional defense. Once you do soft-cap though, Elude can be dropped in lieu for another power.
Quick and dirty version of soft-capping... getting a defense percentage to 45% or more. Essentially this means at 45%, you've reached a level of defense that gives you optimum avoidance of being hit and any more defense has minimal benefits. This is greatly simplifying 'soft-capping', but like I said.. quick and dirty.
Combat Jump isn't necessary but gives you a power to slot IOs like Luck of the Gambler: +7.5 Global Recharge or Kismet: +6% To Hit. You can soft cap without Combat Jump (or Hover if that's your theme/concept). But I have a practice I usually keep to when soft-capping defense, I always try to go at least 50% for a defense. Combat Jump helps with this. Why do I go for more than the 45% benchmark? Lots of mobs like to debuff defense. By going for that much more defense, it does keep you closer to soft-cap when you do get debuffed.
This all makes Elude 'unnecessary'. Elude is handy either for End recovery and/or to make that fast getaway when you find someone accidentally pulled 4 signature AVs and the team has all died, leaving you to handle things. The Elude pop-n-run is useful, but I personally found it unneeded and grabbed Hasten or Conserve Power instead on most of my SR builds. -
Justice has done it several times. I tend to do lots of "themed" TFs, and I've done a couple all Scr STF and 1 MoSTF sucessfully on Justice. For the regular STFs with all Scrappers, just took a little prep work. With some shivans, nukes, and HVAs temps, it's a piece of cake.
The MoSTF with all scrappers though was a bit more brutal. If you're lucky enough to have someone with flight and ranged attack (and decent recharge), then you can 'stick' Recluse in a corner while the rest take out the pylons. Only tip is make sure to keep an eye on him and to scatter should Recluse decide to come take a swipe at the pylon team. After the pylons, we jumped him as one. Just make sure you have a hearty scrapper tank him. I did it on my MA/SD. It was more about the aggro (taunt-ability) while the others watched where they stood (remember not to stand in front or behind Recluse).
I think on all 3 successful runs, it helped that 6 out of the 8 were people I usually run TFs with and we all communicate well via skyppe or in team chat. Think that's something that helps regardless what kind of tf you run. -
Well once you hit "soft-cap", anything more is just overkill and will be marginal versus accuracy... least that's the theory behind soft-capping. I go a little bit above the standard 45% soft-cap to counteract on defense debuff. For instance, on my db/sr I'm at about 53% positional defenses and I'm pretty much untouchable, so Elude is a waste for me. Least in my opinion. There are other camps of thought though in regards to defense soft-capping and taking/not taking Elude.
-
Vengeance Doll needs it. Obviously not tonight, but do it before or after the red Hami Raid tomorrow and I'm in. Wait till Sunday and I'll have a few more red 50s or blues that have gone Vigan.

Quick! Someone PL my Mind/Psi dom! XD
Well if I happen to be on and you're still short a tanker or brute for damage, I'll be happy to join. But I'll just be a go to. Let someone else with a strong psi toon take a crack at open spots first.
Unless someone will push my dom to 50. >_> <_< Wha?? -
Quote:Well both in regards to the OPs and in regards to your stalker, it is easy to reach "soft-cap" with the Super Reflexes set (either scr, sta or bru) even with use of Weave. My issue with doing it without Weave is a I don't like simply acheiving soft-cap when there's so many mobs like to debuff defense. I like to go a little above and beyond.Well, the OP did say Weave, and not Tough AND Weave.
If that's the case, he can still pick up the Steadfast +3% Defense.
I'd say post the build myself. I know I'm having troubles with my stalker, int he fact that I want to pick up one more power (Physical Perfection...its a great power AND it fits my concept! So it's win/win!)...but sometimes trying to fit in one more power is a PITA!
Plus there's the perspective of doing a doing concept toon. I usually tend to play a toon more if it's a concept I create from the beginning and I really flesh it out including bio and level progression that fits within the CoH mythos/universe. But the question always is.. how much are you willing to sacrifice for a concept? If your concept is a "natural" fighter, then I'm almost always willing to skip the travel power. Makes it a pain for going zone to zone, especially on a tf/sf. But like I said, how much are you willing to sacrifice to maintain both your min/maxing and concept for certain easiness of mobility and such.
Maybe posting what build you currently have might help us where we can "trim the fat" to drop Weave and pick up Physical Perfection for you. -
There's almost always more than one way to get to the same spot, just a matter of figuring out how. People have obviously made suggestions of other ways to do it already such as Leadership or perhaps Stealth.
Now for my opinion, I think Tough and Weave are the easiest way to soft cap positional defense. It's also the most slot effecient and power effecient way to go also without having to sacrifice end bonuses or rech bonuses. Granted Martial Arts isn't end heavy, but SR with all it's toggles (plus Tough and Weave) can be an end hog, so I wouldn't sacrifice end bonuses just so I don't have to get a particular power.
Now if you have Ninja Run, you can easily skip a travel power (besides Combat Jump, Hasten, etc) to make room for another power from Body Mastery. I have one concept toon I did that with and it has perma-hasten (well pretty near to), soft-capped (and beyond @51.3%) poisitional defense, and no end issues even in extended fights (though I still took Conserve Power on the very rare ocassion I need it). That might be another way to go if you're more into "concept" than so strictly sticking to min/maxing. -
Hmm, I'll try to go Vigan with my tank by Thursday. Mon and Wed nights are so hard for me to get on unless I plan ahead for it. If not, my scr is already wandering around the Isles and back you up.

Quote:I can answer that question... Rikti Rumble (Mothership Raid) is every Sunday at 9pm EST.As long as I'm aware of a Ship Raid I can announce it towards the end of the Hami. I'd even be willing to lead one, but time constraints during the work week don't really make it feasable at this time. If one is shceduled, I'll announce it. Also, feel free to remind me, so I don't forget.
I'll start running double runs I think unless someone else steps up to run the 2nd one after mine. This should help everyone to keep stocked up on V-merits for HVAs for both Hami raids and CoP.
No thanks for applause or words of appreciation. Just send your inf to Kyth @Streethawk. Thank you for your donations in making it a brighter future without Rikti Invasions. -
Count me in this time around. And feel free to yell at me if you see me at the tailor an hour or less before the raid. XD
