I don't think "Breaking the Game" means what you think it means.

Also, while I'm all for making the forms worth taking...I don't think they could make a change that massive without pissing off a whole lot of people that like their khelds as is.

Surpessed toggles, on the other hand... Give us that and we're golden.

You did well building recharge for not using any purples, but you may want to rethink Dawn Strike. Unless you're using it as an emergency button only, you won't want to use it in combat because you need to keep your shield toggles up to cap your resistance (since light form isn't slotted to cap it on it's own).

Also, I'd try to work in some SL defense if I were you.

Well sure. To be fair, though, telling a story is the minority of the demographics that use AE. At least, it seems that way.

What they should have done, if they didn't want farming (which would make Posi's "We're not targeting anyone's playstyle" bit recently a lie,) is made sure to have a few people on staff to look at the arcs and reject "non story" arcs before they could get published.
Nothing specifically is killing (or has yet killed) AE. But all these nerfs, one after another...it's only a matter of time until they make it just not worth the effort.

Having people review the arcs would take too much manpower. If they truly didn't want people to use this for farming, they would have made it so it didn't grant xp in the first place.

Odd. It's been happening to me every time I went in. Perhaps something got changed? Or it has some kind of random factor to it...

  6. Somehow, this doesn't surprise me. I've noticed a couple weeks back that click buffs such as Hasten and Rage disappear upon entry (or exit) from an AE mission. It is VERY obnoxious to have those disappear shortly after you refresh them before entering a mission. I guess this would be the logical progression of nerfs to hurt farmers.

I have a feeling AE is going to be largely ignored if things keep going at this rate, at some point in the future.

Cheaper, maybe. Easier, sure. But it wouldn't be better. You're discounting the usefulness of having straight up endurance points added to your bar outside of recovery, which get's crashed from Quasar, and sometimes enemies.
  8. Any particular reason why you are forgoing IOs? If it's cost, just frankenslot. I ask because...well, frankly, I cannot see your end bar lasting for very long after conserve energy stops. Human form can be downright nasty on the blue bar, and not only do you have very few end reductions, but you have quite a bit of recharge, too.

Anyhow, Solar Flare is a good power. If you're worried about knockback, you just have to make sure you use it tactically. My advice on your build? IO your character, bring up those enhancement values. Then build for recharge.

Most of the powers you've chosen I wouldn't pick on my humanform--the scatter/detonation powers are too weak for what they cost to use, and with enough recharge solar flare is the better choice for AoE damage. I also wouldn't pick up Glowing Touch, mind you, but that is more of a personal choice, and I won't try to talk you out of that. Indeed, if you're happy with your build, that is all that really matters.

Oh, and I would choose the Cardiac alpha. It will help alleviate any issues that crop up.
  9. Fair warning to my regulars: This Friday is a friends birthday. As such, I won't be able to run Kheldian Fridays at it's normal time. However! Since it is also Veterans Day, I'm hoping most of you have the day off, and so I would like to (rather than missing it) host it a little earlier in the day. I'm thinking no later than 6pm Eastern.

I'd recommend Tin Mage as a possibility, but as we did that two weeks ago, I don't know how many people would be up for that again. I'm open to suggestions.

If anyone has any troubles making it to this earlier time, please let me know, and we can see if anyone would be available to host a second run at the normal time.

    Fast XP

I'm going to guess it's something mundane, like using powerboost to strengthen Farsight's defense boost. Good luck, Mint.
  11. Less than a month away! I hope people are looking forward to this.

    Task Forces

A cold/ice fender can be fun to play, with it's multiple rain AoE's, buffs, and nasty debuffs. A lot of melee characters with fire armor are also a lot of fun, with a lot of investment.

You might want to just ask on the Protector forums, or in-game, if what you are looking for is PL'ing. I mean, I could do it, but I wouldn't without hearing your idea first. Especially if it turns out that the idea wouldn't have worked, and we've both just wasted a lot of time.

I like the way you think, friend.

I don't have mids on this computer, so I can't really comment on most of your build. Three things, though:

Eclipse is most efficiently slotted with two acc/dam HOs and two recharges (The acc/damages give you accuracy and damage resistance values).

I don't see any -kb IOs. You'll want at least one of those. Perhaps slotted into SJ or one of your TPs?

You'll also want to slot some heals into your dark dwarf drain. It will be invaluable for staying alive during nastier fights.

Sounds like you play from range a lot, then? Having pets die is pretty typical on an agressively played shade. It's generally not that big of a deal, though, because if you're built for high recharge new ones will be available soon enough anyhow.
  16. Grant invisibilty seems to make them live a little longer. There is also provoke, though as a triform I don't see you getting much use out of it.

I do have a question about the the proc going into Orbiting Death though. I was under the impression that procs which affect your enemies being in toggles would have a chance to affect you when they went off. Is that not the case? If not, wouldn't I get more mileage out of a damage proc?
Return to battle is nice, but it's not really up enough to be that useful. If you're fighting an enemy type that is tough enough to kill you, they'll probably get you again sooner or later. Plus, Stygian will rez you to full health if there are multiple enemies, along with stunning all the enemies around you and making you invulnerable.

For trials...if you get Clarion, you're better off. If you aren't getting Clarion...you'll be making life harder for yourself for the rest of the game. Plus, you'll be missing that SL defense from the two Rectified Recticles.

The proc will only affect enemies, and it will considerably add to your aoe DPS.

In the end, I'm just offering suggestions. It's up to you wheter or not to listen to them.

    Warshade Build

    New build looks great

    Couple things, though--

You've overslotted Stygian circle, IMO. Throw a recharge in there, and use it whenever you need it. As long as you're killing fast enough, you should be able to use it whenever you need it. Inky aspect also doesn't need that second slot with the stun duration--it only extends the duration from 8 to 11 seconds. Also, I can see this thing getting more and more expensive, so if price is no object, I would recommend throwing a FotG: Chance for -Resist into orbiting death, in place of that end reduction. You're missing the second rectified recticle in tactics (I really wouldn't recommend using it as anything more than a set mule, slotted like that). Also....I notice you're missing Stygian Return. You're going to want that--it's the best rez in the game, and everyone dies at some point To fit that in, I would suggest losing the Aegis for a steadfast kb protection, putting those BotZ kb IOs back in, and getting rid of acro for the rez.

You'll have some free spots to play around with if you make those changes, so you can use those as free slots--maybe one into hasten, which would make it perma. You can also throw BotZ into SJ, so keep that in mind if you decide to lose acrobatics.

I'll just add that I agree with pretty much everything Rainbow and THB is saying. You need to worry about having enough recharge for perma eclipse long before you need to worry about getting anywhere near any sort of softcap for SL. Frankly, my current WS build has only 24% SL defense, and it does just fine.

With that in mind, I would implement some of the changes already suggested. Ditch Grav snare for, say, shadow bolt. Get decimation or apocolypse in there. Take some slots off of absorption, get rid of kick (or boxing, whatever) and get tough, move your +3% defense that was on absorption to tough. Move shadow blast waaaay earlier in your build. Replace your essence drains chance for neg energy damage to a healing enhancement (that should be more useful to you) and make that change to your fluffy slotting. Also, the best way to slot Eclipse is with 2 acc/dam HO's, and 2 recharge IOs. Get your recovery up a little more. If you don't have 170% recharge minimum by the time you're done making changes, you probably should make a few more.

I don't think you'll be stepping on his toes this weekend.
  22. We decided to run a respec trial, which happened to be the Weekly Task Force! I managed to scrape together two teams, and of course, they were symetrically beautiful.

Afterwards, I took a couple kheldians with me to finish off Sun Storms arc and kick some nictus butt. We let some non-aliens in on the action too, because we felt generous.

    See ya'll next week!

    New Alignments

Your idea...is intriguing, but...I'm confused on one bit. Are you talking about:

    A) Replacing Vigilante/Rogue?

    B) Adding new points in between?

    C) Having an alternate path that is separate from the normal alignment scale?

If A, I think some people would have a problem with that. Indeed, it would be somewhat mean to the people that like to roleplay a fall to the dark side. If B, that is going to make the transition from hero to villain a lot longer than it needs to be. And if C, how would you propose that working? I can see how it might work, but I'd rather let you explain just in case.

    Warshade Build

Argh, I can't believe I didn't notice the lack of kb protection. My favorite way to slot it into Warshades is just throwing the BotZ -KB IOs into the teleport powers. It's easy since you have 2 of them as auto powers, and you don't have to give up any LotG spots.

If you actually plan on using teleport as a travel, however, you may not want to go that route.
  25. Performance Shifters: Chance for +End can proc to the team.

Stuff like Numina, Miracle, and LotG don't, though, if I recall correctly.
