  1. I've submitted my arc. I'm not worried about the story, either it will be liked or not. My concern is will I be DQ'd because of a map bug I have no control over?

I'm referencing the outdoor map objective placement bug. "Front/Back/Middle" means nothing, objectives are placed willy nilly. On the map I need for my arc this can be a problem. Using another map destroys the story and atmosphere I'm trying to achieve.

I have begged this bug be fixed since beta.
  2. Rad/Fire/Fire blaster - You will have more AOE than you can shake a stick at. Mine is level 13 right now and already is AOE carnage.
  3. Yes, the problem isn't the Double XP weekend. It isn't even the Reactivation Weekend. It's the lunacy of letting people on for free onto servers with a higher load than normal because of double xp.

Have a free reactivation weekend that isn't double xp. End of major problem. The queue becomes a rarely needed tool.

Edit: I have played on Virtue on a double XP weekend. I do know what it's like trying to log in - and to have it completely lock up my computer. Not getting in isn't even the worst of it, it's the client getting 'confused'.

what toons have you been playing for all this time?
I started playing in July 2004, 60 month badge.

I am an altoholic with 40+ characters I currently play. Because of this my first 50 took over two years and the fastest took five months. You have to understand that to understand where I'm going.

I've tried every AT and powerset heroside at least once. Villainside I've tried all the MMs and a few brutes and corruptors. I tried a dom... once. I would go crazy if I tried to list it all, or even just the currently active characters.

    Quote:
have you played one from when you started till now?
My first character, from which I get my forum name, is an AR/Dev blaster. I play her occasionally still. Not because I don't love her but because the people I joined the game with and played on that server with have mostly moved on to other games. I primarily play on another server now.

I have several characters that date to spring and summer of 2005 that I still play several times a week. I don't find them boring at all. Once I like a character i can't seem to let go.

    whats your favourite build?
    #1 Energy/Energy blaster

#2 Rad/Rad defender - I've been playing this for 2000+ hours and am no more tired of it than when I started. It would be #1 except that I don't enjoy soloing it like I do the blaster

    #3 Widow

I highly reccommend the following powersets as well: Willpower, Energy Melee, Invulnerability, Kinetics, Empathy, Dark Miasma, Dark Blast, Super Reflexes, Martial Arts, Ice Blast, Ice Melee, Super Strength, Spines. Frankly the only powerset in the game I don't like is Stone Armor because of the way it looks and the movement penalty, that's a personal taste.

Treats are now pretty much boring. You get a costume temp, or a small insp ... boring. Noone wants those anymore, really, because they don't drop the halloween salvage. All they want are tricks so they can defeat the mobs to get their badges and halloween salvage. The insp needs to be the large type to actually make it a treat.
I just want to say - some of us DO want those temp costume powers!
  6. Additional to my earlier posted feedback:

    BUG:

During the event in Croatoa the banner icons were popping in and out on my nav bar, disappearing at times entirely. During the event in Skyway the banner icons did not show up at all.

    SUBJECTIVE:

Given the need of the GM for the accolade, one of two things should be done:

    1. An icon on the nav bar for the GM akin to that for the banners

    2. Frequent events, as in at least every hour. Once every three hours is not going to be sufficient when only the first team or two to find the GM is going to get the badge, and may not even get the accolade if they haven't gotten all four banners.

    This will be Jack 100-fold.
  7. Success - I managed to spawn an event by turning in salvage.

Note on the Mystic Aspect - Getting the badge for this is going to be worse than getting the badge for the Halloween Jack or the Eochai. Even on Test where people are prone to cooperate, announce him the moment he's found, he's dead before half the people even have a chance to get there. This is going to be ugly.
  8. Quote:
Are objectives clear when the Event is running?
Not really. I knew what to expect having read the forums and being on a team with Samuraiko. I think people will catch on after one run or two, but a 'story' would help immensely.

    Quote:
Are rewards being handed out correctly?
I've only been through one run and half an hour of ToTing but they seem to be awarding. I've received Monstrous, Dark Fiend, Monster Masher, Hell Hath No Fury, and Shifter (was close after last year), 2 Hamidon Costumes, 3 Statesman's Masks, and 2 Back Alley Brawler Gloves. Trick or Treat mobs are dropping level appropriate recipes. The event spawns are dropping level 50 recipes (as in invasions).

    Quote:
Are there any problems with the event occurring in any City Zone? (Note: The event will only be present In Paragon City or the Rogue Isles City Zones, and not in any PvP Zones, Hazard Zones, Trial Zones or Co-Op Zones)
    I haven't perceived any.

    Quote:
Are there any graphical effect bugs?
It is hard to click-target the banners. Alt-Tabbing doesn't seem to find them.

    Quote:
Do banner icons appear correctly on the MiniMap when the event is running?
    Yes.

    Quote:
Do waypoints correctly appear when the event is running? (Note: Navigation waypoints of active Missions orient players to the Halloween Event objectives when a player’s character is near one, and should disappear when they leave the area.)
Um... I don't know what this means, so....

    Quote:
Are enemy NPCs appearing at the appropriate level? (i.e. a Level 50 should be able to fight side-by-side with a Level 5 character)
    Sort of.

    For the event, yes.

For ToTing, no. A level 50-led team spawns inappropriate mobs. A team of 8 spawns 53s. A team of 5-7 spawns 52s. I haven't tested smaller teams. (Honestly it's not a problem as long as you don't open multiple doors at once but that is bound to happen).

    Quote:
    Are all badges awarded correctly?
The ones I've had opportunity to test so far, yes.

    OTHER:

Halloween salvage does not seem to drop if the invention salvage inventory is full.

I am Steele Magnolia and I support this message.

Seriously, how could you NOT use this woman's work? It's the best thing since sliced bread, maybe even better.

If you don't use Sam's work I'm going to be highly disappointed and think that your own videographers are insanely jealous and are staging a boycott out of professional jealousy.

I hope it is temporary. I liked doing 'invincible' ITFs and LGTFs and Oro missions.

I've started three new characters and it's the same for me.

Atlas, KR, Hollows or Steel/Skyway contacts and a bit of streetsweeping enroute missions to level 20. I've seen a lot more activity in these zones. It's great.
  13. This happened to me with the first mission of Crimson's arc.

I agree. This is a fantastic idea. Those of us who lead teams and seek out new players to teach them the fun of the game and encourage them to stay with it would find this invaluable. It would also go far to alleviate the 'loneliness' of a trial.

The trial players I have found and teamed with recently have been so grateful. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to play without being able to ask questions and communicate. I think if my trial period had been like this I would have stayed with EQ.
  15. Thank you, devs. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this game. It's not just a game, it's also a community. For that I thank my fellow players. You have brought me much enjoyment during a very difficult time in my life, that can't be overstated.

I have been playing since July 2004 and cannot imagine the end. Here's to another five years.
  16. Players who want to play will ask for advice and then follow it.

I was in AP yesterday and heard lowbies complaining about not getting teams for leveling up. Maybe one of this was this guy.... They weren't interested in advice. They weren't even interested when I offered to run a team for them in the Hollows.

I've met several new players in the Hollows lately and teamed with them, helped them out, and had a good time. You can't do anything for those players who want to sit in AP and whine. It's like the story about the hound dog lying on the porch bawling... he was lying on a nail but too lazy to move off of it. That's these people in Atlas.

This is true. Nothing I've read in this thread provides me with sufficient detail to try and track down what's going on, aside from Katie's odd following behavior. I *think* I know what caused that...but there are 2 or 3 possibilities. And, for the record, none of those possibilities was intended to make the task forces any harder.
Thank you for clearing that up, BABs. I'm glad you're on the job and that Katie will be back in form soon.
  18. Operating System: XP
    User Client: PC
    Server:Liberty
    Zone: The Hollows
    Character name: Jasmine Sparks
    Time: 11:00pm-1:00 am 9/20-9/21
    Archetype: Scrapper
    Level: 14
Mission: several missions in the contact's story arc, streetsweeping, and when no mission selected at all
    Mission Contact: Julius the Troll

Summary: The character had XP turned off on the "double influence, no xp" setting, but still gained xp. The level pact partner/team leader Pvt Pat Soldier was able to turn off xp.

    Details:

1.This character is in a level pact and was SSK'd at the time the setting was turned on. This is the character that initiated the level pact.

    2. Both pact partners were on in team, the one who was team leader (and invited to the level pact) was able to turn off xp.

    3. Tried switching leadership outside mission to see if that autmatically fixed it - NO.

    4. Tried manually resetting it to 'earn xp' and then again setting "double influence, no xp" while as team leader to see if that would work - NO

    5. Tried disbanding to see if resetting it while solo would automatically fix it - NO.

    6. Tried manually resetting it to 'earn xp' and then again setting "double influence, no xp" while solo to see if that would work - NO

    7. Tried having the pact partner having the problem reinvite the other and then resetting - NO

Sidenote: On other characters on this account I am unable to use the Oroborous portal while SSKd regardless of team level. Even at level 50 on an all 50 team it doesn't work. The power is expended, but nothing happens. I mention it in case they are related since these issues are not happening universally.
  19. Maybe they won't hire her because of job security worries for the official video makers? Nothing threatens job security, promotions, salary, bonuses, etc than one worker shining like a diamond while their coworkers are still stones in the rough.

The official videos are okay with the exception of the Captain Amazing videos that made me cringe and want to play another game. They absolutely stunk. They didn't sell the game at all.

    And that's my opinion.
  20. If they won't pay a salary or periem, why not free time cards?

Sam's videos are the best video advertising ths game has. The official videos are [Brawl] compared to Sam's [Nova].

Seriously, keep this woman playing this game and making videos. I don't care what it takes.
  21. The regeneration for Lusca's head, after all the tentacles have been defeated, is somewhere between unbelievable and insane. It took four rads and two teams to take it down. It was suggested that it was regenning as if all the tentacles were still present.

  24. STEELE MAGNOLIA'S GUIDE TO MOTHERSHIP RAIDS AND SUPERSIDICKING (once I16 goes live)

With the advent of Supersidicking all members of the team will be sidekicked or exemplared to the team leader. No longer will it be necessary for individual pairs of mentors and sidekicks. When you join a team with a team leader of differing level you will require a sidekick or exemplar. The sidekick or exemplar is automatic and enacted by game mechanics. If you have not preset an auto accept (in Menu >Options can be preset for 1 all the way to 50) you will be prompted with a popup with a timer of 30 seconds. If you decline or at the end of 30 seconds if you have not accepted you will be kicked from the team.

Sidekicking no longer has a range. Regardless of distance between mentor and sidekick the sidekicking will be retained. No longer will a sidekick die if the mentor goes to the hospital. The range for xp, prestige, and influence/infamy gained from defeated mobs remains.

The Rikti War Zone no longer has a level limit. Any character can enter.

Vanguard Merits are still limited to 35+ characters. In order to earn Vanguard merits a character must complete the Introduction to Vanguard arc with Levantera. Only characters 35+ can do this. This level requirement has not changed.

What this means for Mothership Raids:

The team leader should be level 50. The second and preferrably third as well members of the team should also be level 50. This will ensure that all team members are at least level 50 or SK'd to 49. In the event of the leader DC'ing, as often happens, the star will change hands and the team will retain these levels preventing a teamwipe.

Team Leaders should use care in choosing whom to invite. With the zone no longer being level restricted any level character could be seeking to join a team. If they are below 50 once they are on the team their level will be reflected on the team list as a sidekicked 49. The only way to check true character level is by right clicking on the character name in the team list and looking at 'info'.

Team Leaders should build their teams with care if they choose to invite characters below 35. If a team is not combat viable because it has several lowbies it will not reap good rewards. The raid as a whole has to be combat viable. Keep this in mind.

There is no longer any excuse not to go to the hospital. If you don't get a rez within a minute, GO!
