Still, the idea of more unlockable costume content has been one of those things people have wanted... well, since they invented unlockable costume pieces (think it was the witch's hat from Croatoa first).

    Not a "it's not fair™" thread

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, no, since you probably couldn't stop weapon users from unlocking them as well...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually it was more from the point of view of [whine]"THEY can get special bits, why can't WE" [/whine]

well ive been privvy to some major non badge related chat on sals, but 9 times out of ten it is badge related but as per Aretes comment, tfs are always advertised on there, sal himself will offer up his many runs of ITF/STF/SSTF's etc so why anyone would chastise you for following the examples of everyone else who uses that channel is beyond me bud

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well I responded to a "What's going on" request with a "running a lvl 9-10 mission team".. which is clearly not badge related. A couple of other people posted "lft" requests, when the request from an operator to leave it to badge only as the channel is not a general "lft" channel.

The mistake I made was commenting that surely there wasn't much harm in it, seeing as the channel was otherwise completely dead, and also commenting on the irony when someone misposted and put "sorry wrong channel".

I was silenced for that little quip. Shortly afterwards, I left.
  3. There is an interview with Posi on TenTonHammer where he says that some FX upgrades and hitherto "impossible" features are going to be implemented some time early next year. We can only hope that improving the already superb looks of our toons with detail like this is part of that process
  4. Good point well made... ironically it was the Rularuu weapons that made me think of this in the first place; how could I forget the Roman and Vanguard cossies? *palm to forehead*
  5. We have Rularuu, Talsorian and Roman weapon skins for the weapon wielding power sets, so how about some glove, boot or chest detail options for those characters that aren't weapon based? Not a "it's not fair™" thread, before anyone suggests it might be
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Do not know the occation of why you where chastised... so i cannot comment on that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was probably in the wrong to be fair - makes sense for TF teams to be formed in there given that pretty well all of them award a badge of some sort for completion.

Well, widening the term 'genre' a bit, they have already done a CCG and the, sadly ill-fated, RPG. I still think the RPG had legs, and would've been a good way to expand the background.

How about Sim Paragon City? It's be like Sim City, but with the added interest of superpowered battle demolishing buildings every so often.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wonder if an out and out RPG is too much like the MMO to really be successful (although I must admit I've not read any details of the proposed format), which is why I thought about an RTS style. You're right though, another style of game would give more scope to expand the backstory, and also open up the Paragon Universe to people that might not necessarily enjoy MMOs, but do like comic super heroes.

I like the idea of Sim Paragon though, and of course the ever popular FPS
  8. Was originally going to post this in Suggestions, but thought it more apt in here.

Got me thinking whilst playing my Warshade, floating high above the team and watching their scurrying whilst unleasing purple fluffy death, would CoH work as an RTS in a similar vein to MechCommander? Instead of choosing the sets for each member, have "token" characters - say start off with a claws / regen scrapper, leccy blaster and a stormie defender and unlock additional ones as you progress. I realise that this is dangerously close to being a CoH themed Marvel UA, but it'd play more like Dungeon Siege or MechCommander where you're controlling the action from a third rather than first person perspective. You wouldn't "be" any of the characters, but would control what they did individually or as a group.

Are there any other game genres you can think of that could use the CoH Universe as their setting?
  9. Happy Birthday FFM.. proving the cake ISN'T a lie

  10. [ QUOTE ]
The best ones I can suggest would be
    Sals badgehunters;
    Union taskforce;
    and Union chat;
....there are others such as mothership raid but the info usually goes cross channel anyway

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dont join Sals Badgehunters if you're looking for TF / teams etc, unless of course they're badge related. Made that mistake this morning and got suitably chastised!

  14. Not really had any rude tells that I can remember - though it does worry me that the rhetoric for a lot of people appears to be "Send tell.. if player does not concede to what I want, they are rude". Additionally, if someone sends a tell, and I just say "No".. that isn't rude; particularly if the tell is along the lines of "Cn I jn ur tm plz" (and sadly this appears to be the norm rather than the exception these days.. what ever happened to "Hi, room for lvl x, <insert at here>"?)

Secondly, I don't see the point of sending a tell and immediately following it with a blind invite. For whatever reason the person isn't replying to your tell, are they any more likely to repsond to the blind invite? I don't mind blinds per se; I can check what levels people are then leave politely if they're several levels lower than me (as has happened a couple of times today), but "send tell; immediate blind invite" just smacks of demanding insistance, which I really can't tolerate.
  15. Hmm some of these points I agree with to a degree but essentially:

1: There are plenty of low level mobs in Mercy, they're just not right in front of the starter area.
2: This is an RPG, so in the context of the game it makes sense that the missions are nowhere near the contact, and at low levels it's a good way for new players to learn agro ranges, discover exploration badges and the like if they have to walk a fair distance to get to their mission. For more seasoned players it can be a little tedious having to walk all the way across the map to get to a mission, so maybe strike a bit more common gound as it were?
3: Most lvl 5-10 contacts have "Go See Lt Wincott in the Hollows" and the ones at lvl 15 have "Go See Security Chief(?) in <insert PVP zone here>". Again, this is a good way of introducing new players to areas and parts of the game they might not immediately be aware of. If you don't want to go there, just drop the mission from the contact. There are a few contacts that are, for example based in Steel Canyon, but all their missions are in Skyway City - wouldn't it make more sense just to stick 'em in Skyway in the first place?
4: Not sure I agree with this at all. I don't want to fight the same groups of enemies from 1-50 just because they happen to share the same origin as me; way to make the game tedious as hell! (On a side note.. that's an interesting way to look after enhs LN; I tend to just use DO/SOs and not think about IOs until the late 40s. Thinking about it, your way probably does work out cheaper because the lower level IOs probably go for next to nothing, and you don't have to worry about red enhs when you level. Might actually give that a try )
  16. Would love to DW, but unfortunately Volkanik is on the strong tasting ringed one. I do have a lvl 45 tank on Defiant who's suitably kitted out if you have a suitable toon blue side? Other than that, do you have any KB'd villains on Union?
  17. Wow.. thanks for the warm welcome back girls, boys, reptiles, half-human wolf things, rabbits, and all the other permutations that our imagination and the character creator allow.

Blue Rabbit: Tell Purple MT is indeed back, and has brought her back dead things to show how much he loves her (it's a cat thing)

Raven: Heh.. this is probably my shortest hiatus (I lasted nearly 6 months last time :O)

DreamW: Never a truer word spoken.. I still grin like a pillock every time I hear that Atlas Plaza music.

Iron, Ged: There's idiocy and there's idiocy. Thankfully the NPP has bucket loads of the good kind, rather than the kind that makes you want to smack your head into a wall.

Newt: Been playing nearly 3 years on and off, and still a noob. Still proud. Still giggle like a pillock doing the daftest of things (Hurl boulder on my Stone / Fire Brute maxed out with Kinetic Crash IOs giving 175% KB... endless fun with low level CoT in Cap Au Diable)
  18. ... even though I said you'd never see me return, the pull of Paragon was too much and I'm back (Would you believe I had a dream where I was a stormie defender, and had to resub just so I could create the character?). All my old SG are playing Warhammer, all the clan I started for Darkfall Online (which for you nay-sayers is currently in open beta) are playing Warhammer, and however tempted I am, spandex > chainmail so here I am.

Joined up with the New Power Pack SG who are a superb bunch, and the level of idiocy whilst ever present amongst the games population has thus far been kept to a minimum! (Despite one chap trying to tell me that Icicles was an ice tank melee power and nothing but a useless waste of end).

So to those that know me, Ello! To those that don't, know me as Megafone, Sigma Suit Evo and Techno-Demon.
  19. Going up there today.. doubt I'll see anyone I know, or if I'll manage to get a character drawing done.. but hey ho hehe
  20. It staggers me that any of you are SURPRISED at the actions being described here. The game is full of rude idiots who's personal brand of "humour" is to infuriate the the hell out of as many people as they can in as short a possible time. Surely it's a "no brainer" that a power like the self destruct one is going to be music to the ears of these kinds of people.

As annoying as it is, it ain't going to stop any time soon. So just grit your teeth, petition if necessary, and wait for the novelty to wear off.

As I've said before, CoH is a great game. It's just that a small (but seemingly and rather worringly increasing) part of the player base make it a place I'm wanting to be less and less.
  21. Fully agree with Raven and Nova on this. If you want to make a donation to charity, there are plenty of existing ways of doing it. The only purpose this will serve is to show off the fact that you've made a charitable donation. If you are genuinely that charitable, why would you need to advertise the fact?

I never said that. Do you know any other Rapthorn's on this Forum? Maybe one of them said it.

Pretty much all four arcs of Vernon Von Grun are so humorously narrated that I had to keep a paramedic on standby

...also the cut scene on the last mission on Viridian's arc = priceless

    [/ QUOTE ]

Old Vern was the one that sprang to my mind when I read the OP as well; "Laugh with me! Muahahahahahaaaah"

There's also a Rikti contact in Grandville who's mission dialogue tickles me as well. Even his evil manic laughter is suitably Rikti-ised; "Muah: Hah: Hah Haah!"
  24. The sidekick system works just fine as it is. Your suggestion will still enable people to PL. In fact probably more so.

At the moment the maximum number of low level players that can get into a high level mission is 4. Under your system, all they'd need is one level 50, and 7 could get in.

The phrase that applies here I think is, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
