  1. Given that it's now easier to get the missions required for those kinds of badges because of Ouroboros, I would have thought it'd have been less likely for people to charge now because of the higher availability.

I've never been asked for inf for such a mission, and I can tell you if ever I was, I'd promptly leave it.
  2. When I say "It doesn't miss" I don't mean "I see no miss message" I mean "Normal powers have no effect on the hp of the target, whereas burn whittles it down quicker than a flame thrower against a candle" - tho' I concede this is probably more down to the number of hits rather than their accuracy.
  3. Burn has no accuracy component, but I could well believe it has a very high to hit. I've never seen Burn miss (I have 3 firey aura toons; 2 at 50) - which makes it especially useful against high def, fear resistant mobs like Rikti Drones.

(lets face it, if someone sticks a 4ft wide bonfire underneath you, you ain't gonna dodge it are you?)
  4. Either that or do away with music in there completely and actively promote player lead DJing like Evo Radio.
  5. Had one on my second account when I logged in yesterday.

In three years I've never seen it used for anything else. SG's tend to use web based calendars for organising events, in my experience.

    Dreaming of CoX

Oddly, I had a dream about being a storm / lec defender in an elemental superteam called "Gaias Army" or something similar. All very weird and abstract, and made me reactivate my subs after a three month break. I think I got the character to about level 6 before deleting it and playing my other characters hehe.

On topic, what we really need is a Hammer dance emote. Plus parachute pants in the cossie creator, of course.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh hell YES! Signed to the nth power. (particularly as I have a stone Melee brute with a "STOP. HAMMERTIME" bind)

Additionally, I've always loved the GW dance emotes, and anything that made my characters look like they were dancing other than either a) like my dad at a wedding or b)looking less like dancing and more like an epipleptic episode would get the thumbs up from me.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game and my characters and I'll defiantly play around with the mission builder

No one's telling you not to!

    OT.

I wouldn't be surprised if the release date were the 12th (as it's a Thursday) but would be surprised if the boxed edition came out on that date - and I thought us EU paupers were only getting limited exposure to the new box anyway?

    Search Options

    QR

I think it just requires the search applet to be a bit more intelligent:

When looking to join a team: Only show team leaders of joinable teams (ie ones not on TFs or with 8 members) and for all that is holy DONT truncate - or at least give the option. Give customisable level ranges. (trying to get a team at lvl 42-45 is made much more difficult with the current system.. all you get is a screen full of 50s, half a dozen 41-49s and the inevitable, "This list was truncated")

Make the default search option "Looking for Any". I'm sorry, this is a MULTI player game. If you want to solo fine, but frankly you're the odd ball, and so it's up to you to turn the option off if you want to play like that.

For team leaders looking to recruit: Again, customisable level ranges for people that can join the team (i.e. not already teamed, showing as afk, or teaming options flag set as prefering not to)

Have additional options to the ones we have to include things like RP or Badge Hunting (but NOT PL or Farming for precisely the same reasons Ravenswing mentioned).

Oh and have it ready for I14. It is called "Architect" and building a team is central to the game after all
  12. Buddy disc from a work colleague that bought the Deluxe edition. Having not previously been a big fan of RPGs in general, I'd certainly never tried an MMO, because as a genre it didn't really appeal. I still remember running around the tutorial with my character "Powerbolt Man" (*ahem*) thinking "Hmm.. not sure if I like this", but something must have clicked; I got my 33 Month Vet badge on Saturday
  13. No worse than some, better than most.

Unfortunately the arrogant know it all eejits exist in all walks of life, and seem to congregate on gaming forums more than anywhere else. Sadly, there's nothing you're going to be able to do about that, and these are the kinds of people that put potential new comers off.

One idea for promotion of events is to have some of the more popular global chat channels advertised on the CoH website.

    Search Options

Whilst I heartily agree to the search function being revamped, I will just ask this:

Do you honestly think the people that don't read your search box will give a damn to what your search flag is set to?

    New Retail Box

    QR

Marketing, generating interest in the game, product placement and all that to generate more players is really fairly moot when the infrastructure seems to be unable to cope with the current load of 400 or so regular players. If the subs increase only to find that they're constantly disconnecting, rubber banding all over the place, then you're going to lose those extra subs fairly quickly.

Sort the connection issues so that your current player base can play without so many problems, then come up with methods to entice more players.

RotP (Rez) epic on blasters? Its like giving them a nuke when they die Never actually seen it, but those numbers look tasty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was on a TF a few weeks ago with a fire blaster who told us not to worry if he faceplanted because 'death is part of my attack chain'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

lmao love it. Now THAT is a PROPER blaster.

    Please reply!

    QR.

From my own pov if I see "Soloing" or "Not LFT", I'd interpret that as a preference or statement of intent rather than a statement of current activity, and would pass that person by if I was building a team.

If I'm looking to join a team, I will send tells to everyone that appears gray in the search list within my level range. If I'm on a team and I get a reasonably worded request, I'll reply in kind as soon as I'm able, and frankly, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask the same courtesy from other people.

Frankly, I'm astounded by "it's rude to send a tell to a stranger". What kind of nonsensical attitude is that to have in a MULTIPLAYER game. Multi Player. Lots of people. Expect interaction from people you don't know. In fact, how do you expect to find people you do know, if you won't accept people from tells you don't?

    Madness.

Awesome stuff, thank you so much!

only small detail I'd change is his description. It's not "Volkanik Stone Melee / Firey Aura Brute WITH Rage Incarnate", he IS Rage Incarnate.

Can't fault the artwork though! PM sent

Maybe Fantasy has been. Fantasy doesnt = Medieval.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes. I know, you've said that already. And I've already said that the setting of a fantasy game, namely wide open spaces, people living in huts with straw on the floor, riding around on horses and if they're posh having a bath once a year, is conceptually no different to a fantasy setting. If you take that environment and throw a bit of magic in, you get a fantasy setting.

I don't think it takes too much of a leap of imagination to see that the archetypical fantasy warrior (like Conan for example, or the characters from within LoTR) are stylised exagerated versions of the kinds of people portrayed on medieval battlefields. It's quite likely that the exploits of certain individuals that are described in stories by people that have fought along side them were hammed up to make a better story, to the point where these kinds of people attain a legendary, fantasy type status.

    [ QUOTE ]
Anyway, wonder why its been done a lot? Cos its quite popular, maybe?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Or perhaps because the big epic battles we're all used to in the movies are the kind that take place on a medieval battlefield and produce the kind of myths and legends we see in our culture; Jason and the Argonaughts, 300, William Wallace, Lord of the Rings, King Arthur, yada yada yada, and so it's natural that players will want to emulate that kind of hero in a game.

[/ QUOTE ]Didn't you get the memo? All the cool kids hate popular things, like WoW or medieval/fantasy themed settings. A reason is not always required, either. If you don't hate popular things and proudly proclaim this over the internet, you're uncool.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What a lot of rot. It's got nothing to do with it being popular and therefore uncool. It's got to do with the fact that it's over used, over done and completely unoriginal. CoH's biggest strength (for me) is the fact that it DOESN'T follow that over used tired forumla that every MMO and its wife does, and I feel a medieval zone, would be a step in the direction of genericism and unoriginality that I am actively trying to avoid in CoH.

Pretty sure I've said it already in this thread, but seems it bears mentioning again: there have been no redundancies in the CS team this time around. They are continuing with the same number of staff they had at the end of last year.
