Wow, so many great entries, it is hard to pick! With that said...
1. U-Naught
2. PyroNympho
3. Bubbawheat -
Although I've played a bunch of other architypes, I have never played a controller before. I have a concept-toon that I am starting up, and would appreciate any build advice from you experienced controllers. I am showing mostly Common-IOs, as I figure by the time I am ready for sets, I'll have a much better idea of what I want/need.
Looking back through the forum history, I didn't see any other posts about this combo - is it really gimp or something?
Thanks.

Tailor missions. I want the new costume slot NAO!
-
Quote:This! Opaque masks FTW.I know this is ridiculously simple, but I've wanted it forever.
I want a mask that sits ON your face, and isn't painted onto it:
I want to be able to color it. I'm sick of my eyebrows showing through the darned thing when I choose the Rounded, Pointed, or Diamond masks with any color but black. -
Quote:^^This. AE arcs make for a good break from repeating the same content over and over.Strangely enough, I use the MA for what it was originally intended: an alternate means of progress in the game. I don't farm or exploit. I like missions with good plot, and I don't mind taking my time to get through them.
So don't take away my XP. It's annoying having to redesign my arcs for the XP nerfs, but I can do it. Take away the XP, and the only reason I'll have to use the MA is to take screenshots in test mode. -

Can't you use the drop mission feature to auto-complete the first FedEx? Wouldn't that avoid the chained "go see" contacts, and let you get to the real missions?
-
In order to avoid the tedium of Fed Ex's and the same old content in the low levels, I am levelling up my latest lowbie in AE. Solo, so far, so no farm teams. There are plenty of good low-level arcs available.
I just made 13, and in the process, got a fair number of tickets. Doing random Bronze rolls on the lowest range (10-14?), I got the Steadfast Protection +Def unique, and two Karma KB protection recipes (as well as a bunch of junk that I vendored). After crafting and selling these, I was able to amass a goodly chunk o' influence, and will certainly not be in want for some time!
My other major peeve with the low levels is the lack of accuracy. I HATE missing! It was a great relief to finally make level 12, and be able to equip common Lvl 15 IO's (two each per attack), thus pretty much ending "whiff-fest."
In response to the discussion regarding DO's and SO's, I have found that it is less expensive to go all IO's - badgers frequently sell low level common IO's at really low rates, just to free up their market slots, and it is a whole lot easier to just deal with Wentworth's than having to go all over from contact to contact to open up the origin stores, prior to being able to go to Talos or IP and visit actual stores. -
If you add KB enhancements into this power, is the effect that mobs are thrown higher into the air? That sounds like fun!

Back when I was new to the game, and had just visited Independence Port for the first time, I logged out before I saw any 5th Column. Turns out I logged out right next to a spawn point, because when I logged back in there was this guy in a grey suit with a rifle looking at me. I thought, "Hmm.. That's an interesting costume," thinking that this was another hero. Then, the !@#$ shot me!
-
Interesting... I looked at Mids, and there is no indication of a Taunt component to Burn, though that might be because that line in the GUI is used by the Immob protection stat. All other attacks have a Taunt value shown.

Quote:I did, of course, use Fulcrum Shift, but no AOE attacks, just ST Psi attacks all concentrated on one mob at at time.Kinetics toons have a way of stealing aggro called Fulcrum Shift + AoE attacks. Every tank I have looses aggro to kins to some degree. I don't know if it is possible to offset the loss of aggro by perhaps using more taunt IOs or not.
Quote:To get out of burn patch and look for someone else..possible. Blazing Aura doesn't have an autohit taunt. To run out of Burn Patch yet still be in quicksand and attack you, that's interesting. What was his secondary and what were you fighting? We were fighting some custom mobs in an AE mission, that mostly did fire attacks.
Quote:Technically, no, it does not. Meaning that there is no specific effect as part of burn that would act to negate threat.
HOWEVER, if the mobs run out of the burn patch, and don't run back in to attack the Tanker, then they can stop being affected by AoEs that the Tanker has, and as such, over time, can lose some aggro, and put you at the top of their list if you've been attacking/debuffing them.
However, the damage done by the Tanker, especially if the enemies have been hit by Blazing Aura, should be enough to have the Tanker hold aggro. -
I was on a team with my Kin defender this past weekend with a Fire tank who was using the Quicksand and Burn combo, mostly to very good effect. However, I seemed to get aggro a lot more than I would have expected - it seemed as if once the mobs got out of the Burn patch, they looked up and saw me hoving nearby and went right after me, even though they clearly had been within the Tank's aggro zone before.
So, does the Fear component of Burn cause a reduction in threat to the AI, and thus loss of aggro control? -
Wow - someone Neg Rep'd me for saying I liked Vivace's toon. How sad is that!?

Don't do it!
Lightening Field is your taunt aura, and a very nice source of damage over time as well. In my experience with Elec Armor, this is a must-have power.
One note about its useage is that I find that I have to toggle it on just before a fight and off afterwards when travelling to the next mob spawn to facillitate end recovery, but it is definitely worth keeping. -
Actually, being somewhat new to Victory, after a long time on Freedom, I am moving some of my characters TO Victory, not FROM!
-
With the free server transfers, I want to move my 50 Energy blaster over from Freedom, but the name is taken. Any forum reader have the name 'Excimer' claimed on Victory, and might be willing to part with it? Thanks
-
I have never heard of this before. I looked in the Wiki, and couldn't find anything stating this. Is this documented somewhere else? What other IOs fall into this model of being enhanced by the enhancement of the power?

Quote:OK, so now you've got my OCD going! The build listing says 188% regen and I agree with that number. However, that INCLUDES the Numina unique and you're counting it again in your tally above.
Not a big deal, but I have a spreadsheet to calculate mine to the exact point, so a 20 point discrepancy jumps out at me.I do not think the 188% includes the Numina Unique. The roll up of set bonuses looks like this:
Code:Bonus Qty Total Powers 12% 4 48% Dull Pain, Health, Laser Beam Eyes, Physical Perfection 10% 5 50% Invincibility, Stamina, Tough Hide, Weave, Whirling Hands 8% 5 40% Barrage, Bone Smasher, Fly, Boxing, Total Focus 6% 5 30% Barrage, Bone Smasher, Boxing, Total Focus, Rectified Reticle 4% 5 20% Taunt, Invincibility, Health, Tough Hide, Weave ------- Grand Total 188%
------------
Set Bonuses:
Pounding Slugfest (Barrage) 8% (0.63 HP/sec) Regeneration
Rope A Dope (Barrage) 6% (0.47 HP/sec) Regeneration
Numina's Convalescence (Dull Pain) 12% (0.94 HP/sec) Regeneration
Pounding Slugfest (Bone Smasher) 8% (0.63 HP/sec) Regeneration
Rope A Dope (Bone Smasher) 6% (0.47 HP/sec) Regeneration
Annoyance (Taunt) 4% (0.31 HP/sec) Regeneration
Freebird (Fly) 8% (0.63 HP/sec) Regeneration
Luck of the Gambler (Invincibility) 10% (0.78 HP/sec) Regeneration
Serendipity (Invincibility) 4% (0.31 HP/sec) Regeneration
Numina's Convalescence (Health) 12% (0.94 HP/sec) Regeneration
Triage (Health) 4% (0.31 HP/sec) Regeneration
Efficacy Adaptor (Stamina) 10% (0.78 HP/sec) Regeneration
Pounding Slugfest (Boxing) 8% (0.63 HP/sec) Regeneration
Rope A Dope (Boxing) 6% (0.47 HP/sec) Regeneration
Luck of the Gambler (Tough Hide) 10% (0.78 HP/sec) Regeneration
Serendipity (Tough Hide) 4% (0.31 HP/sec) Regeneration
Luck of the Gambler (Weave) 10% (0.78 HP/sec) Regeneration
Serendipity (Weave) 4% (0.31 HP/sec) Regeneration
Scirocco's Dervish (Whirling Hands) 10% (0.78 HP/sec) Regeneration
Pounding Slugfest (Total Focus) 8% (0.63 HP/sec) Regeneration
Rope A Dope (Total Focus) 6% (0.47 HP/sec) Regeneration
Rectified Reticle (Focused Accuracy) 6% (0.47 HP/sec) Regeneration
Devastation (Laser Beam Eyes) 12% (0.94 HP/sec) Regeneration
Numina's Convalescence (Physical Perfection) 12% (0.94 HP/sec) Regeneration
So, I'm sticking with my 427% as the correct number.
