I think question 1 depends on what tier of Paragon Reward you are at. I forget the tier that unlocks AE but it is fairly low.
But no idea what happens to the arcs if you drop from VIP and are below tier 6. -
One thing I've noticed lately is that a lot of people, presumably freebies since they're usually on the help channel only, are running DFB over and over, even up into their 20s. Is the xp from the trial that good for that long?

You'll be able to continue the current story line, but you won't go beyond the current contact. When I hit 30 during Noble Savage's arc, I was able to finish the arc but wasn't introduced to the next contact.

There's no timer on the "power" itself, but you can always hover over the badge you earned to get it and do the math yourself to figure out how much time is left.

No, you can't run regular content with Leagues.
However, they are also not just for Trials. You can use them for GM hunting, Mothership Raids and Hamidon Events... also could be useful for CCs or something, SG Events? -

I always find it funny how a question can sit there for over 20 minutes without an answer, then suddenly two or more people answer it in the same minute. -
You should check out the The Market & Inventions forum. The people there are rich and not shy at all about telling how they do it. There are plenty of 0 to billion threads there detailing exactly how they made their money.
Myself, I random roll hero merits. I make on the average, 110-130 million net per roll after crafting. Sometimes less (sometimes horribly less) but the good rolls bring the average way up. Much better profit than saving up 2 for LotG/Miracles but a bit more work. See link in my sig for the spreadsheet.
