Easy enough for me, I'll be switching out X-Ray Eyes and Neutron Bomb for Proton Volley and Atomic Blast. Might lose a little recharge, but insta-snipe and crashless nuke? Yes, please.

On a related note, after getting a widow, a defender, a blaster, a corr, and a couple brutes to 50, I finally caved and stuck to a StJ/SD to see if I can do some stupid scrapper tricks myself. I adored her concept and powers so much that I went whole hog, spent a couple months marketing, and put together a purple 'n Hami build as soon as she hit 50.
To put it in my best Christopher Eccleston voice, she's fantastic. After one too many bad encounters with defense debuff, I had to hold back on the scrapperlock with my widow. (Which is probably for the best on teams anyways.) With my scrapper? CHARGE! -

I'm reminded there's also a Blood Widow Scarlet.

Thread is a lost cause. Post ponies.

Praetorian Flambeaux is a modest nondescript wallflower who has never revealed her super powers in fear of having to respond to someone actually noticing her.

I was going to just second Nethergoat, Starflier, and Werner, but...
Fun:
* Creating a hyperactive meter maid with a riot shield, and watching big pretty orange numbers whenever she fires off Crushing Uppercut
* Creating a pistol-packing kids' show pirate, and seeing him become a fan favorite of his SG
* Creating a classy night widow, and enjoying every moment I've RP'd with her and almost every moment I've taken her teaming.
* Creating a big dumb brute who wields a railroad crossing sign, a third-generation Soviet man of iron, an animatronic Saturday morning superhero ferret, a radioactive Ukrainian teenager, a fairy cop on the edge, a slacker ninja, a valley cat girl, a crass former Destroyer, and dozens of other ideas I've whipped up on a whim
* Creating story arcs to entertain my SG/VG-mates
* Seeing what concepts and stories my VG mates, SG mates, and other players in Atlas Park and Pocket D can come up with
* Oh, and hitting bad guys / good guys until XP and loot fall out
I'm sensing a trend here. -
I've successfully completed Praetoria with a KM/SR scrap, FA/FA scrap, and SS/Inv brute. The DP/Kin corr doesn't count, because I got frustrated and wound up teaming his way to level 20.
I'm puttering with ideas to run through all-Prae content to 35 with, but I'll likely do it with a brute or scrap again. -
Since nobody else has hopped in yet, I'll run counter-point.
Quote:You get bonus damage at combo levels 1 and 2 too. Not to mention that with AAO saturated, the bonus damage is icing on the cake. With sufficient purpling, I can run SS every fourth attack. The only drawback is positioning, but its not a horrific tradeoff.MA and SJ initially look similar but MA is basically just better. One aoe versus two? That's cool, dragon's tail is better than either of SJ's aoes and the thing is that given the combo system you can't actually fire both of your aoes as often as they're up without feeling like you're missing damage. Of course, if you got over that hurdle then SJ is in fact the better set for aoe by a margin I've not bothered to calculate.
Quote:Where SJ is not better is in single target.
Quote:For me the deal breaker is how finicky SJ's combos are. Unlike staff or water blast, the finishers are not also builders. When you miss a piece of your chain you just feel bad about it and there isn't anything you can do about it due to the way SJ's attacks' recharge times stack up in an obnoxious way that I am not prepared to explain but which you could figure out if you spent a lot of time on it. Was that just one sentence? Right, well, my point is that if you miss your shin breaker, either you fire your CU for sub-par damage and end your combo, you fire your sweeping cross for radically worse damage but allow for the possibility of starting a new chain for another chance at CU, or you just keep cycling builders.
Not to mention that getting combo 3 isn't that hard. At 95% to hit, its an 86% chance to hit three in a row. Give yourself five builders in between CUs, which is my high-end plan, and 999 out of 1000 CUs will be at combo 3. (I think. Its been a long while since I had to play with binomials.)
That's not even going into the happy feeling of running an ITF with a pair of kins, shoryukening Rommy, and seeing a nice big orange 1350 pop over his Nictusfied helmet. And I didn't even crit.
Quote:The real problem is that you can only build three combo points over a period of fourish seconds and to do so you can only be using the three builders that you selected. -

Rule #1: If you have to ask, its a Nemesis plot. Its always a Nemesis plot.

This thread? Still? Here, have a relevant lolchessplayer:

I never understood qubbles over tankers and brutes at the caps. If you're capped out, then pretty much so is the rest of the team, and at that point individual performance is just another body left behind in your team's wake.
Well, OK, I kinda understand, but I doubt those thoughts would be taken kindly. -

Because re-linking anything that Nathan Fillion tweets can't be bad.
And its Jon Huertas kicking *** in a fursuit.
Just watch. -
Since Justaris didn't mention it, I'll note that the quick 'n easy attack chain is Shin Breaker -> Rib Cracker -> Heavy Blow -> Sweeping Cross / Crushing Uppercut or Spinning Strike. You only need 130% recharge, you can get that easy with 5 LoTGs and 5 or 6 ATOs in Crushing Uppercut.
On the other hand, my StJ/SD plan has close to 160% global recharge and can fire Spinning Strike every four seconds. So you still have something to aim for.
Quote:Gauntlet messes with the streak breaker, but other than that nothing's broken. Taunt is just a nice tool to pull targets out of smashing range into smashing range, or for that immediate moment of 'hey you hosers look over this way'. I pick it up on all my tanks and brutes. Thanks a ton for the advice and builds. I haven't yet looked at what the mocking set it, but slotting taunt is going to be hard on my soul. Is gauntlet just that broken or was there a nerf to taunt auras or something?
Quote:I do suffer from a complete fear of toggle dropping. Is there no need for physical perfection and conserve power? Endurance was a big concern while levelling, but that was mostly solo which, of course, uses a lot more.
Quote:Again, thanks a bunch for the advice, this is exactly what I was looking for. Also if taunt is common sense (which is still freaking me out) what do trolls do for fun in the tank forums nowadays? -
Quote:Dumb answer: My corruptor's Dual Pistols. You could build a Corruptor without fastsnipe, but only in the same way that you could build a character without Stamina before they made that globally available. But why would you?
Quote:If this goes live, in I24, if you play a Corruptor with a Snipe, you will either take and slot Tactics or you will not be leveraging your blast set. That isn't an interesting build decision or particularly strategic. It's just Stamina again.
Not dumb answer: Corruptor's get a nice modifier for the Leadership toggles. Defenders get a really nice modifier. If I'm playing my class for support, I should already have the pool picked up. Even more than that, there are only a handful of powers that give corrs and defenders defense, so if I'm gunning for defense cap I'm picking up Manuevers. And if I already have the pool, then why not the to hit bonus in Tactics too? I can't see it as Stamina again if its already in a good chunk of builds to begin with. -
Quote:You've really lost me here, I have no idea where you're going with this.I think if this change rolls in as designed that a lot of people are going to be disappointed about what it means, because this is really no different than powers with high endurance costs that we're meant to use "strategically" but instead power our way around, because that is the choice that makes sense.
