Nice thread dredging! This one has some grrreat animated avatars that I'd almost forgotten about...

Observer Mode is cool. You look like a floating camera and can move around the arena map, watching the action.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't sound like they're fixed. -
[ QUOTE ]
Two words:
Kill Skuls.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hah! I knew we'd get to him eventually! -
That doesn't say "people who aren't in the battle get to observe" though. That could just as easily mean you can watch as long as you're in the battle.
-
[ QUOTE ]
The floating aimable (and destroyable) cameras are cool, but as others have pointed out, it has problems when you have large numbers of observers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is precisely why I think you won't be able to spectate unless you're actually in the battle. Nowhere in the original post does Positron say that non-combatants will be able to view a game. I think a lot of people risk being dissapointed if we jump to that conclusion. -
[ QUOTE ]
I feel uncomfortable when Positron uses words like "voyeur".
He might wanna change that.
[/ QUOTE ]
"Daddy... the glowing man in the battle suit is outside my window again..." -
[ QUOTE ]
"You will be able to view the events in "Observer Mode", either when they are running, or if you are defeated and players on your side are still running around."
I read it as we can watch while the events are running....
Anyway..how many cookies does it take to get on the private test server?
[/ QUOTE ]
See, I read that as meaning you can become an Observer even if you haven't been defeated - to me, that doesn't say you can watch if you aren't involved in the battle. -
"To an extent" is what makes me think. The quote doesn't say: "Can players who aren't in a battle team watch the battle?" it says " Can we watch heroes battle it out in the arena?". "To an extent" could mean yes, it's possible to watch heroes battle it out, but only if you're on the team.
That's just the impression I got. -
I'm not sure if it's possible for people not directly engaged in the match to become Observers. I certainly didn't get that impression from the original post.
-
I knew there'd be a use for those Shurikens some day...

*SpongeCake collapses to the floor, frothing at the mouth and spasming wildly*

Don't forget to add "more mini-events like the giant Octopus, the Ghost Ship and the infamous Paladin."
[/ QUOTE ]
While this sounds cool, I've never participated in any of these. It doesn't seem to happen often enough (or people aren't yelling out when it does when I'm in those zones.)
[/ QUOTE ]
When it DOES happen though, it's exciting. I was recently travelling through IP, minding my own business, when I see a huge, green glow at the edge of the screen.
Scared the crap out of me and I knew what it was... And the more we get the more likely you are to find one... -
[ QUOTE ]
We hear that the USA PCGamer got lots of nice information about Issue4 and I htink they mentioned some stuff about PvP and CoV. Something like a two page spread of screenies and details.
Any chance we can have some of that sweet lovin' passed to the devoted forum dwellers in the next few days please?
[/ QUOTE ]
Please. -

Pretty sure doesn't make you correct. This issue has been brought up before, Sik has checked this and there are ZERO issues with recreating a Moogle character.
[/ QUOTE ]
By the same vein, nothing happening yet doesn't make it okay. Does he know someone at Square Enix and has asked permission? If not, then how can he be certain of "ZERO issues"?
[/ QUOTE ]
Send him a PM and ask. There are no trademarks on Moogles therefore there are no issues with recreating one. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Moogles aren't trademarked/copyrighted in any way. The Green Lantern is.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty sure everything original in the final fantasy universe is owned by Square Enix... and moogles are original... don't exist anywhere else

Uh, you do realise CoH is being sued over stuff like this, right?
[/ QUOTE ]
Odd... looks like you've got a bunch of "moogle" characters there... I do believe those are from the Final Fantasy series.. property of ©2004 SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD. ???
[/ QUOTE ]

I always thought it'd be funnier if the Friends list said "You have NO FRIENDS", if you didn't have anyone added...
-
Those were mostly educated guesses. "Hopefully, X will be in Issue 5". The official rundown of each Issue has always been correct.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Skills is in Issue 5...
Issue 4 revolves around the Arenas (now under construction)....
[/ QUOTE ]
Fudge. I suppose it's better we find out now then work it out once Issue 4 goes to the Test Server.
It's still rather dissapointing though, -
What can I say? Fantastic work Stateso. I fail to see how anyone could be dissapointed by this result.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Well, the title thing, as i said, i learned form PMs. And wasen't the filter discussed at the last live interviewed where Jack said : mmm, interresting concept?
[/ QUOTE ]
That doesn't really count as a "promise" now does it? He didn't even say maybe, just that it was an interesting concept. -

A friend of mine just received this e-mail from PlayNC,
[ QUOTE ]
Thank you for contacting PlayNC support!
Generally speaking, you will need to purchase the City of Heroes European version to be able to login/play on the European servers.
If you need further assistance with this, please contact us.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now as you can see, PlayNC seem to be trying to insist you WILL have to buy the Euro release, while it seems you Dev's are saying we wont. So who should we believe?
[/ QUOTE ]
NCSoft are saying you'll probably have to buy a new one, the Devs are saying they're trying to make it so you won't. -
Yeah, Statesman mentioned a few possibilities as being City of Spies or Galaxy of Heroes.
-
I agree. Statesman said Issue 3 would bring Shapeshifting "of a sort", indicating that it's not really shapeshifting.
